Fairly quick process. Went in the morning around 9:30am and there was no wait. Two other cars showed up after me and they both had to wait. Takes about 10-15 min. I used a Groupon. About $20+ for the Groupon and about $9 for the certificate which you pay at the shop. It does mention that in the Groupon fine print. Pretty affordable deal. The shop is in a side street, sorta hard to find tucked away. I dont go out to Hayward that much. Pull into the one stall slot. Give the guy your DMV sheet to scan, present the Groupon on app, wait in the outside chairs while he runs the test. Sign the three papers at the end and pay the $9 certificate fee. He'll give you a copy of the cert and you're all done. read more

If you bought a Groupon just know he has hidden fees that are not on the fine print. HE IS SCAMMING GROUPON USERS. Charged me an extra $10 for an suv. He told me it was in the fine print which I read and argued that no where it stated that. There's only an $8.25 extra charge for state certificate. I showed him the fine print from my phone and asked him to show me where it was and he just shook his head and said it was there. Ended up paying the additional $10 that is NOT on the fine print plus the $8.25, on top of my Groupon purchase. On my receipt it only has the breakdown of the State Certificate charge but not the SUV charge, this is something that needs to be reported to Groupon. Also noticed in the reviews (which I read after the fact) that l'm not the only one he has done this too. Definitely scamming Groupon Users. read more

I took a car to have the smog done and he started to question me about how much I had bought it for while he was doing the smog. He asked me for my bank card to make the payment. When the machine finished scanning the car it said the car was ready. He went inside and took my card and charged me $80 to the card without my authorization. He gave me the car papers and the failed smog for no reason. He told me to come back in a week and give him $40 and he would give me the certified smog. I asked him what the reason was several times and he had no reason. Just to come back with $40 I no longer needed the car just the money and he would give me the certificate. I left the place and went to another shop in 5 minutes he did the smog without any problem and for the amount of $65. I returned. to show him but it was already closed.. he stole my money and my time, very unprofessional.. read more

I came here to smog my wife's car. It was finally due for a smog after 8 years. We found a groupon deal and they had an extra discount bringing the smog check less than $25 excluding the $8.25 smog certificate. Our car passed easily since it's a 2014. He told me I still needed to pay $10. I asked him I thought it was $8.25 then he said $1.75 for transaction fee. That's the first time I ever heard of that hence the 4 stars. That was not mentioned on the Groupon. It's still one of the cheapest places to get a smog. I just wished they mentioned it on the Groupon so that there aren't any surprises. read more

Went to the closes Smog Testing place to my house since it was day off and wanted to get it done ASAP. It was a quick process, however, the guy who helped me was extremely rude. He didn't introduce himself (Ricky is the name on my paperwork), he barked orders at me, and had an attitude of annoyance the entire time I was there. It was hot that day and I asked if they had a place for me to sit inside while I waited. He impatiently had me sit at his desk. Afterward he handed me a paper to sign. I signed it and gave him the clipboard back and he barked "sign all! sign all!" I had no idea that there were three papers to sign. Also, he never said whether or not the report will go directly to the DMV - most smog only businesses do that. So I just took my paperwork and will make a copy and send it to the DMV myself. There are WAY too many Smog Test Only locations, many of which are less expensive, so skip this place if you want good service from people who show respect and value you as a customer. read more

The person doing smogs was really really rude. The lot is small and shared. The attendant was upset that I parked in a space while he finished smog on another vehicle. He was incredibly rude while I was trying to get out the car ( I use a cane so it takes a bit to safely get out of the vehicle). He was bothered when I asked what type of payments were accepted. Horrible experience for me. He was rude from the start. The first thing he didn't give me was a hello. How can I help you? I told him I had a Groupon, and his attitude got worse. So he tested my car and said it wasn't ready. After I waited an hour. While I was waiting, he went to talk on the phone on the side of the building. I looked to if my car had any tool to be testing it. There was nothing, so I was like, why he is talking so long he has a customer waiting SMH. Then he comes back saying your car isn't ready. It failed. Mind you, I have stuff I have to do like go to the DMV. But if it wasn't on his phone, I could leave 10 minutes ago or from the beginning when he knew it wasn't ready but checking the obd reader. I never had a bad experience like this. He even tried to charge me 1.75$ for ? I went to a lot of smog places. They are more friendly and welcoming. If my car wasn't ready, they said just come back because it's not ready for a smog. Drive it for a little while and come back no charge. When they put obd reader, they can know right away. It's not ready. So basically, this guy could have told me from the beginning but charged me my Groupon and said no retest for using Groupon. You pay full price when you come back.
