I own a older mini cooper and her a/c hasn't worked since I bought her. Fun car but not a driver if it's warm. I dropped it off and they found compressor was leaking badly. They quickly got a new one and then texted me that the rear struts were gone. With 150000 miles I wasn't surprised. So they went and replaced them then texted they were done only a few hours later. This is a quality repair shop. I am very pleased with the engine work performed on my truck at a reasonable price. I am the original owner of a 2000 F-150 with 350k miles. For the past three months I was getting a check engine light with PO171 and PO174 lean codes. I spoke with Jeff and set up an appointment for the following week to replace my intake manifold gaskets which were leaking badly (smoke test). I had already replaced many engine parts myself but did not want to tackle this large of a project. Well, after I got my truck back from the shop it drove very good with no error codes but I needed to drive it for a week to see if I got any more codes. I again got a PO171 code. Disappointed, I went to my Ford dealer and purchased Bank 1 and Bank 2, O2 upstream sensors and replaced them myself. It has been a few weeks now and I no longer have any check engine lights (CEL). Wow! I mean Wow!!! I am so glad I found this place. My son is at Cal State East Bay and his car battery died and I needed to get this fixed ASAP. I called Mangale on a Monday evening at like 4:45 they close at 5... and they answered. The guy was so amazing and I was thinking he's going to rush me or can't help me. Nope! Complete opposite. He stayed on the phone with me, got all my information, told me what he needed, I text him the information, and no joke he literally had the battery overnighted. That's some amazing customer service. I saw a lot of good reviews so I decided to give them a call and ask an estimate for a transmission fluid and filter service on my car. I was baffle when I saw the price wasn't sure if that was the real price for getting my service done. So I did some research before I start considering done the service. The filter he charges me the original price 364 when it on sale online on their website 239.80. He also charge me 30.46 quarts so I needed 7 the total 213.22. But 30..46 for a quart? I wanted to like and support this small business, but I can't recommend going here. My car didn't pass smog and I needed to get it diagnosed and repaired. They said I needed a new spark plug and then quoted me $404...to install a spark plug. When I decided to go elsewhere they charged me $125 just for the diagnosis. I recommend going down the street to Hayward Smog Auto Repair, where they quoted $125 for the diagnosis and repair. The nice thing about this place is that they were open on a Saturday and looked at my car right away, but coming here was a waste. It's just another auto repair shop ripping people off. Since that time, I have brought all of my cars here for very good reasons. John and Jeff are a father and son combo - their name is on the shop and they hold a strong reputation for transparency, fair and competitive pricing, and ASE-level work. They are ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified, which is important because it indicates they have spent at least a year studying hard to learn how to properly fix cars. Jeff has 12+ years of experience under his belt, and John has way way more - he started his business out of his garage was able to grow it to a full-fledged auto shop! When you bring my car in, they may ask a lot of questions about what issues your car is encountering because they are big on making sure they properly diagnose the issue. They can also inspect your car and tell you what issues you might have that you may not have noticed. They strongly emphasize preventative maintenance to prevent potential issues in the future. They are super knowledgeable with their craft and can tell you why something needs to be fixed or replaced and the potential benefits or consequences of doing / not doing a job. My husband and I were looking for a shop to assess the issue with our Expedition's AC. It stopped working suddenly and after being charged an arm and a leg for an AC compressor just 3 years ago.... Ugh!!!! Not sure what the issue is on why the Ac appears to always go out every couple of years but it's getting old! In any event, it's never easy to find a honest auto repair shop that is also professional. We really wanted to have this issue looked at this weekend because we were heading to the desert next month and will definitely need the air conditioner in that sweltering heat. So, I went on Yelp and messaged a few auto shops and Mangle Motors were ones to respond quickly to my message for an estimate with a fair quote and they were able to take a look today. SCORE!!! So, we brought out car in. I'm so glad that we went with Mangale Motors. They were fair, professional and honest. We worked with the owner, Jeff and he kept us well informed by text what was going to happen and he was upfront in letting us knothatif the first option didn't work which was recharging the AC, it may require a valve replacement and provided me with two quotes. One for the recharging which came with other services like diagnostics etc. and a second quote if the rear expansion valve needed to be replaced but that was a big " IF" the recharging didn't resolve the issue. Thank goodness the recharging worked which was a huge relief. It's unfortunate that most mechanics tend to oversell and overcharge but I think we found a new place for our auto needs!! Mangale is the place to bring your car if you're in need of a reliable car shop/mechanic. I went on a late Saturday afternoon initially for a last-minute oil change and they were able to take my van for service. I have to give this shop props coz my van barely had a working battery which I mentioned to John as he's doing intake for it. I gave a quick info on the van's history and how it will likely need more work. John sent me a list of items my vehicle needed and everything was solid. Some shops you get a sense that they tag on unnecessary services but not at Mangale's. John also worked to ID some issue the van had so i can get a smog check for it. Short summary--the guys at Mangale got my 2004 van squared away. As I brought it to the smog test station, the guy there was confident that the van would pass especially since the guys at Mangale worked on it. Yep, it did! Happy I chanced by this shop. Mangale Motors was recommended to me by my daughter who is friends with one of the owners' spouse. In that the business also had excellent Yelp and Google reviews, I decided to take my vehicle to have it serviced. I drove 35 miles to Hayward to drop off my car, 2011 Nissan Altima 3.5 sr, for the following work - tune up, coolant exchange, CVT fluid exchange, and diagnosis of rattling from what I believed to be early stage catalytic converter issue. (Note: I had taken my car to the dealership previously to ask them to check on the rattling sound only to have them state that they did not notice it nor were they able to replicate it.) I dropped the vehicle off at 8am with John, one of the owners. I received a call from Jeff, the mechanic/co-owner, confirming with me the scope of work as well as inquiring in detail about rattling noise that I was hearing. He stated that the code reader did not show any issues with the catalytic converter. I described for him when the rattling is most noticeable. He stated that he would let the car sit for a bit and would try to listen for the sound again as well as to put it on the lift to check underneath. If he found the cause, he would get back to me. We agreed that if he was not able to find anything that it was best not to replace the catalytic converter. At this time Jeff stated he would provide to me an estimate for the work which he did in a timely manner which was through a link via text message. Given the amount of work to be performed, the vehicle had to be left overnight at the shop. The following morning I received a text message stating that my car was ready for pickup. I arrived and spoke to Jeff who was very detailed and patient in describing the work that was performed. He gave me recommendations regarding frequency of CVT fluid exchange and also where to purchase gas because certain gas stations have better additives/detergents which ultimately optimized the engine's performance. BONUS - Jeff cleaned the throttle body and did not charge me for his time or for the supplies that were required. He also check the air filter and also my tire pressure which he filled to the recommended PSI. Rattling sound - to my amazement, Jeff was able to find the cause of the rattling sound that the dealership was not able to. It was a mount on the catalytic converter that "lost its weld." Jeff gave the mount back to me, pointed out where on the piece the rattling had occurred, and advised that I have a muffler shop re-weld and secure the mount. Jeff stated he would have done this for me except that his shop does not perform welding. Needless to say I was just pleased that Jeff was able to identify the problem and that it did not require me to replace the catalytic converter. In summary, I am most satisfied with the customer service that I received from Mangale Motors. John made the intake and checkout process seamless. Jeff did an amazing job working on my vehicle, giving me service advice, and being patient with me and generous with his time. I cannot have asked for a better customer experience. Thus, I highly recommend you use Mangale Motors when you are in need of having your vehicle worked on. I would not recommend using Mangale Motors for any work you want done on your car. We went there last month because our car was stalling. We were charged over $3000 for repairs and were told that the issue was fixed and we should not see any more problems. A month later, the problem showed up again and we were told there was another issue and they wanted to charge us another $1000. Total rip-off for the work done and nothing was resolved. When the squeaking coming from my car got too loud to ignore I knew it was time to bring it somewhere......but the only problem was WHERE?! There isn't anything more stressful that a problem with your car and more added stress is finding a trust worthy, reliable and professional place to bring it to......luckily I found my place..... I went to another auto repair place in Newark to get an estimate on how much my car repair would be (it turned out to be my brakes). The estimate was free but took 45 minutes. After my estimate, which was an incredible $300+ it would be almost 3 hours to complete!!! I ended up leaving that place and found Mangale Motors. The owner Jeff was more than happy to help me fix my brakes and get me in and out as quickly as possible. I arrived, we discussed the problem, he gave me a reasonable estimate and within a matter of hours my car was as good as new. I plan on updating this post after my repairs are finished, but so far so good! prompt service by John & Jeff So far, I believe this was a good choice . i wanted to wait a few days to write this, mostly as a 'just in case something happens' , thing. happily, that is not the case with my experience thus far. i went in and spoke to John, who seemed to have a pretty good handle on things, and we both concluded a new belt and water pump should solve the noise i was hearing. with 10% off thats 250ish - very cool . but after they started getting into my 2007 honda civic engine with 159k, the problem was worse that originally noticed. Now $875 with discount - damn. my car runs good now . probably needs a belt tightening because it makes that one sound in the morning still till it warms up . good enough experience?
