DO NOT SHOP HERE - Basically a scam Before buying a lock I specifically asked if I could return it if it doesn't fit. I told them that I would need to take it out of its packaging. Even an employee at the store helped me open the package as I made an extra key. Everything would have been fine I thought, I double-checked. Unfortunately, the lock didn't fit my door, so I brought the item back an HOUR later. I was told NO! I've tried to explain in multiple ways, nice at first, not as nice after a passive aggressive supervisor/manager was condescending and borderline rude to mean taking back their agreement. I didn't even unseal the bag with screws or open the manual. Obviously, super tough plastic packaging was somewhat destroyed. It's not meant to be reused! Anyway, the only solution now, is that I spend $150 on gas and 1-2 days to go and "possibly" return a $35 purchase after spending time with the manager on the phone (waisting even more of my time). It is embarrassing for a building business to treat customers this way! Go to DIY or to Home Depot instead! I thought the place next to my house would be more convenient, I was totally wrong. None of this would have been a problem if I didn't specifically check before I bought the item I couldn't return unused 1 hour later, with the original clerk present at the time of return. Unbelievable....!! Went to buy 4 thin trim boards. ( 1/2 " thick ) Once I located in yard ( by myself ) I went in to pay. I had to go back outside to get sku # for sales guy. 160.00 for 4 trim pieces. ( Home Depot is 94.00 ) Meeks allow for one free cut. But he wanted to charge me for 3 cuts. HSE ( sales ). He explained there's 4 boards so there's an additional cost for 3 additional cuts. I said.... but they usually stack the thin pieces on top of one another so it would be ONE cut. He came unglued.... Rude and arrogant and said. " it doesn't work that way, do you want the 3 extra cuts or do you want to argue and or just leave the store....? I said, don't want to argue I just want one cut.! Again he said... it will be 4 cuts. Take it or leave it. Again I said...don't want to argue, we'll see if stacks 4 thin trim boards and cuts once. Sure enough.. yard guy stacked the boards neatly on top of one another and made ONE single cut. It's not the extra 7.50, it's the principle and the lack of logic, I have been in lumber business for a long time and never experienced the lack of knowledge, highest prices and rude sales people in my entire carrer. Meeks is great and the team at the counter are really helpful. They get busy, sure, and they're a little short staffed, but they're doing their best and will go above and beyond as much as they can. Jose, Dave, Chris, and the lovely Kat & Mary are all amazing. The ONLY reason I would consider taking off one star is the screeched "hi, welcome to Meeks!" that one of the workers shouts any time you walk into the store - usually from a distance (and way too loud to be genuine). Both were very responsive and reasonable when it came honoring an original price quote for new windows that was six months old. as the story goes, was some snafu getting the original order placed. I've been remodeling a home for over eight years (yeah it's taking a while) in the Meyers area. I rely pretty heavily on Meeks and am fairly satisfied with them. They have good customer service, great location, and a solid lumber yard. For specialty items like tile, flooring, lighting or for large purchases I typically go online or to a box box store as Meeks is a little pricey and has a limited selection toon of these types of items. read more

They need better customer service skills and double check if they have what you need, when u call! drove all the way from Sacramento because they were supposed to have what I asked for and changed it from redwood to cedar! Tried to sell me cedar when I need redwood! Went to order door work at door shop. Was asked if we had an account which we do. Associate acted surprised we had account. He acted as if he was high or disabled. We explained our situation. Manager Jose assisted. We placed order. A week later we checked status of order. Nothing had been done. We canceled order as we had backup supplier. Told Jose it was good we had stopped by to check on them. They are incompetent and worthless. Go elsewhere and save your frustration. read more

If you look at the reviews, you'll see a pattern since last year. This location of Meeks is for contractors only so I wouldn't recommend it if you are doing anything less than a major project. Plus they won't return items at this store if you purchase the item from the Meeks in town (which is much more helpful). read more

My husband has gone to Meeks three times in the last day just to be treated poorly and left with zero help. Every encounter has been very unprofessional. The one time he got ANY help, the door specialist Joe, treated him with complete disrespect and inadequacy. We are both born and raised locals of Tahoe and it's a bummer to see this and have to go off the hill just to get a door but after our experience here, that's our only option. Go to DIY for anything you need. Wish i could give 0 stars. Unfortunately, DIY does not really deal with doors so i was forced to go here once again for a new door. I brought in my exterior door (lead from my garage to the kitchen) and told them i needed an exact copy of the door but it needs to be a plain, hollow core door and not another exterior door. (There was nothing wrong with my original door i brought in to get a copy of). I was told it was going to take one week. I waited a week and called to ask of it was done (because even though they take your info and promise to call, they never do). I got transferred to the guy who cuts the doors. I was told "I've never seen your door or heard your name, i dont see your door or know where it is, it's my bosses fault." Are you kidding me!? This is the customer service Meeks provides. I then drive to Meeks and let the guy know how pissed off i am to hear my door is no where to be found. We then go to the back where i had to spend 10min looking for my door (which had my info tapped to it when it was dropped off ). I finally find my door and go threw the same process of telling them i need a hollow core copy and the original back. I again, watch them put all my info and specs on the door and am told it will be another week. I waited another week (2wks since i first dropped it off) and call again. I am told my door is done but the original is not there! I had to go in the back shop once again and look for my original door (that had no problems). I found my door in the middle of a 6ft high stack of pallets that were meant for the trash!!!!! Now my original door is scratched and marked up. Not only that, but the copy of the door is another exterior door! Not the hollow core copy i wanted and had written on the "order/spec" sheet. Now i am told that it will be another 4days until i get my hollow core copy door!! This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. The fact that i had to stay on top of things and go find my door twice (once in the trash pile) is unimaginable. How does this happen? I watched the employee take my door and tape all my info/specs to it twice!!! Take your business else where! Meeks feels that tahoe customers have no other choice but to buy from them, but with the lumber yard expansion at DIY we have more options now. If not DIY, go off the hill and go to Home Depot or lowes. Meeks is not worth your time, frustration or money. read more

Came in to grab some building supplies for the house and was pleasantly surprised to see they sell home cabinetry and flooring! The gentleman sitting at the desk barely looked up at us and did not even greet us! I mentioned right in front of him that I was pleased and would be interested in getting a quote on the cabinets and that I'd just had a quote for a new kitchen at Lowes! He said nothing. I meandered around this tiny dept for at least 10 minutes and he never asked if he could help me, if I had any questions and when I spoke to him his answer was short making it clear he wasn't interested in selling me anything! I guess I'll stick with Lowes. What a shame because I like supporting local economy! read more

NEVER again. This time I mean it. I want to give this store my business but I let my guard down again. I even sat in one-lane-closed traffic to get there. Another item that did not have a price. Another trip to the cash register to check the price. Another long line and no one to scan an item to tell me the price. Two staff members on the floor. No acknowledgement let alone "may I help you." This is the fourth time I have been treated differently than other customers in the store. I've often wondered if I looked like a hard working contractor if I would be served with respect, like my dollar is as green as the next one, and my needs are as real. [This is not a comment on hard working contractors. Y'all rock and you're lucky to get good service.] Today I was told I could wait around the corner while the other customers in line were served. I laughed out loud. I placed my item (which I still had no price for) on the counter and left. Won't let that door hit me in the a$$ as I take my business elsewhere. Forever. NEVER going into Meeks again. I will not forget. I will not try again. I will not give them another chance and I will encourage others to follow suit. read more

We are currently in the middle of a large remodel. We went into Meek's with a large shopping list. Thankfully, Meek's has all of the supplies that we needed without us having to travel off of the hill. We were were also in need of a front door. After a long debate my boyfriend and I could not decide what kind of door we wanted. Thankfully the door manager Joesph came to our rescue. He was extremely knowledgeable about the various doors they had to offer and provided us with several great suggestions. Finally with Joesph's help we were able to pick a beautiful front door that we are beyond happy with!! Meeks in Meyers is a full service hardware and lumber store. T he staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Misty is awesome on matching paint. 0 stars is right. We called ahead to see if they had the product we need. They assured us they did. When we arrived, they didn't. So the clerk, a sincerely nice young man, said the computer indicated they had it in stock and checked in back. Nope. No product. Instead, he offered us... longtime locals, a discount on the next sized product. However, when we got to checkout, the manager, a pubescent, tattooed female infested with piercings, denied us any discount, told us she "couldn't" do it, and then lambasted the poor clerk in front of us. Basically she just REFUSED to give us a discount, even though the reason we drove down there was because they told us the product was in stock. This is called CUSTOMER NO SERVICE, and this is why WE WILL SHOP DOWN THE HILL. We TRY to support local businesses. Three different places in town treated us so rudely in one day. Aspen Hollow Nursery treated us like dirt, Kmart treated me like I worked there and expected me to run a price check, and Meeks pulled the ol' bait and switch. We could have run down the hill and back, completed our project and biked our favorite trail, but in the hopes of supporting our community we tried to do business up where we live and accomplished nothing.
