We chose Bellagio quartzite for the kitchen, and the most stunning blue green stone called Lemurian blue, from Madagascar and has gemstones in the stone and is hellishly expensive for our small bar. Sam is the only stone fabricator in the tahoe/Reno area that is a certified FREE POWER Installer. Free Power is an undertone (or quartz or other materials) phone, AirPods Charger. You can charge up to 3 devices at a time, and change the colors, and brightness from your Free Power Phone App. COOL!!!!!!! Sam is the only contractor I know whom picks up the phone right away when you call. In addition to excellent work, he is also a delight. Highly recommend him! He is the only sub from our awful contractor that we would hire again, and we will. I believe the old negative reviews were when he had someone working for him whom embezzled. We recently bought a small home in SLT and have been making improvements as we are able considering we work outside of the area. We reached out via their "contact us" option on the website and got no response. So a few days later we called. I don't know why we didn't take the lack of response as a red flag, but we were persistent because we really wanted to keep our money with a local company. We spoke to a "Jen" and scheduled an estimate with this company for a few weeks later. We traveled back to SLT for the estimate and she just straight up didn't show up, didn't call, nothing. We then called to follow up, reschedule, etc. and left a voice message but she never returned that call either. Very unprofessional. I can't recommend this company as they don't communicate or seem to value other peoples' time. read more

I worked with them to replace my kitchen countertops. They came out and measured, we picked the new granite, and I got a proposal with all the costs laid out. Everything was fine up till then. I agreed and asked to be put on the calendar. That was 3 months ago and they have not answered my emails. I've been totally ghosted, totally irresponsible and bad business. I have reached out and asked if they are still in business, if they are on hold for covid, etc. not a peep of a response. It's insane. read more

Ok, Sam is AWESOME. He just installed new counters in our kitchen, bathroom, and kitchenette. They are gorgeous, he matched the veining on the counter continuing up the backsplash, and ending up fining an extra piece for us to complete an area that was not on the original bid. He arranged to have the slab I had ordered delivered, showed up on time for the template and surprised me with an installation later that week when I happened to be up there. Do not use, after giving close to $20,000.00 to this company for materials and deposits to fabricate countertops for 2 separate projects we have been waiting over 3 months now since they cashed our deposits. Extremely unhappy with service, if you care about things such as scheduling, planning, organization or communication do not use them! Beginning of November, we gave them our first set of deposits. It is now January 11th as I am writing this complaint and Jenn has yet to provide us with an install date. read more

I've never experienced such poor customer service with any business as I did with SDC Stone. The woman we tried working with was unresponsive, would send us inaccurate information, would not reply to emails or answer basic question. When she did answer emails, they didn't make sense (written very poorly and didn't contain information asked about). I can't speak to the actual quality of their work because they were incapable of providing a consistent quote, answering basic logistical questions or sticking to appointment dates. Don't bother. I tried several times to get a kitchen and bathroom counter top done. Not sure if it is Sam's wife or staff but I would call...weeks would go by and then I would get a call from a woman that seemed very confused about who she was calling and what the job was. I tried to support a local company but gave up. Found a great fabricator in Reno. If you live in the Bay Area or Sacramento Area, Bedrosian's is a great source for granite and will ship for free any slab you find in either place and ship to Reno for fabrication. There are some great ones there. Don't risk your project, just find the best company for your project. read more

Sam is the best! On short notice he came over and fixed a huge scratch on our granite countertop. I don't want to get into what the scratch was from (total user error), but he made the counter look brand new. He also has super reasonable prices, and is a really nice guy. The job was completed very quickly, and the conversation during made my roomie feel at ease after my blunder. Great job Sam! read more

The customer service at SDC was terrible. We contacted them to do a small bathroom cabinet job. They told us to come in and pick out a piece of granite. We found a piece we liked and called them back to tell them we were shipping a sink to them. We never heard back from them. In the meantime, the sink was shipped to them. After many phone calls and 4 trips back and forth to their location (25 miles each way) we got our sink back. To this day, we have never seen Sam or received a phone call back. Would never recommend them!!!!!! read more
