So after doing some research I discovered Wendy and Tom are trusted to alter clothing for designers, that I thought would be good enough for my $500 pants. These pants were made out of textured fabric and needed taking in on both sides, the legs made skinnier, so it was quite a bit of work. I was so impressed with Wendy and Tom. I went in, put them on, they pinned to how I described I wanted them to be and then when I picked them up in a weeks time, they were done, exactly how I wanted them. Couldn't ask for better than that and I have sent my parents there for alterations too and they were also impressed by the service, great people. Next time you need clothes altered, come here, they do a better job than the others.

I find it very expensive, which if fine if you get the perfect end result as you are trusting them with your clothing, but sometimes I didn't get the perfect end result. The last item I got altered here was a pair of pants and they came back too short. This was gutting because they then had to let the hem out to make them a bit longer and they just didn't look right after, not too mention it meant I was without the pants for longer than initially expected. I'm sure the bad experiences I had here aren't regular occurrences as I have had some excellent alterations here, but the bad ones I did have were enough to cause me to look for somewhere else and to be honest I am glad I did as I love my new place.

This review is for the drycleaning service that LookSmart offers through its branches. When I was…read moreworking at Cue in Sylvia Park I would take my clothing here to be drycleaned. At first it was out of convenience but then I realised that the service was very good here, better than what I had experienced at other dry cleaners and they take care of your clothes. I was told that the drycleaning service they use is some eco friendly drycleaner who uses non chemical detergents to dryclean the clothing. Whatever they use it works. One time I stupidly decided to make carrot juice in a white dress, dumb. I got microscopic specks of carrot on the front of my dress. The fabric was a silk, linen blend and not cheap so I did as instructed, didn't attempt to remove the stain and took it into LookSmart. They sent it away and when it came back, no orange stains. I also take my coats to them at the end of the winter season for drycleaning so they will be all clean, ready and waiting for the next winter season.The pricing is reasonable also. when I need to get something drycleaned, this is where I take it. Any branch would do though as all the drycleaning goes to the same place.

Looksmarts are generally tiny but on top of that, the one in Sylvia Park is practically outside, so the wind is there to greet you while you're waiting to be served- not fun. The last time I went there was on an early Thursday afternoon and I'd explained to the lady at the desk that I needed the dress by tomorrow morning. She said that she could have it done by then so I went ahead and got changed so you could measure me. All was going well, so I went and changed back out of my dress and went to the desk to give her my details. As I was just about to pay, she asked me again when I needed the dress to be complete. When I told her- again- she then told me that they were far too busy and I wouldn't be able to pick it up on Saturday, then urged me to pay for the alteration. I ended up feeling (almost) played and took my dress to the branch in Manukau who did it quickly, without hassle and with honesty. Despite almost being hustled, I still think Looksmart is a great alteration service, but I'd prefer to visit the Manukau branch.

As well as the clothes repairs they also have a carpet cleaning machine you can hire, apparently its one of the latest models, so if you want to do it yourself for a more thorough clean you can hire it out. All of this topped off with a friendly smile and there's no need to go anywhere else except your local shop.

That usually means that they do not look good on you but you are in denial, so then you find yourself at the checkout anyway, happy that you are getting new clothes but you also feel slightly uncomfortable because you are dealing with that denial on a subconscious level. Maybe you are not as neurotic as me, but if you are and you do find yourself at home with new clothes that do not fit properly, take them to Rev Vamp, a talented tailor who, considering his very central location, is extremely reasonably priced. He only charged me $25 to hem my pants, half the price of the guy that I used previously, and I went to work the next day not feeling like a kid who was borrowing his dad's pants - always a good feeling.
