Shame on you Mega Glatt Mart! Rude employee we can live with, but closing BEFORE closing time when I as a customer see you inside and you know it's before the closing time. You tell me "sorry come back Sunday" when I'm here for Shabbat on time is wrong. I even called on the way to confirm you are open and that I'll be there before 3. You better fast on Yom Kippur! Shame on you!

    Paprika from this store!!

NOT RECOMMENDED ! BE AWARE ! Last week I stopped by this store to buy a few groceries products. One of the products was Paprika. After cooking with the Paprika for Shabbat dinner and making food for my baby, we realized that the Paprika was full of worms inside! I went back to the store to speak with the owner and asks for compensation for all the food we throw away because of the worms inside, and he did not take any responsibility and spoke to me with disrespect. This is absolutely not the way to treat customers!

Their prices are much cheaper then the kosher section at Ralph La Jolla. Their meat and products are fresher and cleaner than other markets. They have the best tasting food and products you can't typically get outside of Israel. I just discovered this place by chance and I plan to visit every Friday before Shabbat to stock up. They have friendly and helpful staff. Location is ok, wish it was more centralized. Mega Glatt is my favorite supermarket in San Diego. I hope they expand to become a bigger store with more offerings!

Other than its sister store, Iowa Meat Farms, Tip Top Meats in Carlsbad (yes, they have returned), and the Wise Ox, also in Carlsbad, there are hardly any real butcher shops around. But these guys know what they are doing. Try their burgers and meatloaf. They are easy to cook at home. Try their steaks. You can get a legitimately excellent steak here for a fraction of what you would pay at a steakhouse and it will be BETTER than the steakhouse version. Make sure you ask the counter guys to season it for you before they wrap it up. Try their freshly-made sandwiches. Make sure you try their beans behind the deli counter. Their pimento dip in the refrigerated area is legendary and more addictive than crack (or so I have read). They have interesting sodas, craft beers, different mustards, El Indio chips, fresh breads, and a small but very well-curated wine selection. Is there anything they do not do well here? "No," is the answer to that question. They do everything well here. They have their own parking lot but it fills up quickly. There is not much other parking in the area. In the past, I have walked several blocks away in the residential neighborhood to get to the store when there is no parking available. And it was worth it.

First time checking out the new place. They moved next to…read moretheir former place of business in the smaller side of the building. They still have the same vibe and the same menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They did raise the prices but still a really good value regardless. Formerly a sit-down restaurant, this is now set-up as a take-out, with few tables outside near the entrance. It is also a small market as well, with a meat counter. We walked in at around 5:00pm on a Wednesday and ordered their BBQ Beef Rib dinner and a slice of pistachio cheesecake. The employees there were really friendly and nice. We didn't get her name at the register but on our receipt it said Gabby was our server and she was sweet. We had a question regarding ordering meat for an upcoming event and Max at the meat counter was very helpful. When we got home, the meal was delicious! The meat on the ribs was juicy and tender, the baked potato was hot! It stayed warm longer than most potatoes we've had and it was good. The mixed veggies were a bit softer than I expected but was fine. It was a good meal. We went back to order 8 BBQ beef rib dinners 3 days later on Saturday, 4th of July. We called in our order 30 minutes before pick up and when we arrived, we waited a few more minutes for our order to be done. The ribs weren't consistently good. Some were good but some were tough and chewy. But the sides of coleslaw & mashed potatoes were really good. Rolls were already cold at pick-up. Overall, it's still a good place and glad they're back.

He came back saying the chef said the special had expired. We explained, we got the e-mail only a few days earlier and the special is posted on their web site. Our server said the only side was mashed potatoes. We pointed out the ad clearly states 2 sides not one side. The server also said the only steak option was a ribeye and that it would be a 16oz cut in half. As you can see from the picture, what we got is very different. This made for a rather uncomfortable dining experience. We've never had to justify our meal before. This was a bad dining experience.

We were traveling and being impressed by reviews, we secured a RESERVATION days prior to our arrival!!! You'd think someone in the building would've been expecting us! No excuse for not being greeted, and not even getting the bare minimum treatment expected from any random 24/7 diner, let alone a premium steakhouse. Dining experience was disappointing (or nonexistent), and the private Yelp messages from the owner were extremely telling. Can't improve if you don't take care to acknowledge and address areas for opportunity. Customer service is a glaring one. Pro: Convenient parking. Spacious booths Wish we could give an opinion of the food, but we left.

The food and the service were equally outstanding. I really enjoyed all of the entertaining table side menu items they had available to order. Another thing that is always a really big nod to us of great service, is when they treat our kids just as well as us adults. They greeted them, spoke to them, and even ended up creating two mocktails from their personal preferences. We really appreciate that so much! We ended up ordering a variety of things to try for our family of four: the table side Caesar salad, the Steak Sampler, a Filet, Lobster, Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and Truffle Fries - we loved it all! Perfectly cooked and everything we wanted it to be! We were so full, but after viewing the dessert cart all night, we had to try some! The most decadent, delicious, chocolate, layered cake was our pick. As we were waiting tho, we saw the table side banana foster dessert being made and had to order that too! No regrets!! It was all perfect!! They also kindly brought us out a really good peanut butter and jelly macron, but the star was that it was topped with a gold dusted Wu Tang emblem on top - LOVE!! PS - even the bathrooms were fun! I really look forward to trying more of their restaurants!

For appetizers, we ordered the bread with sea salt, charcuterie tower, and shrimp toast. The shrimp toast was overly salty and was pretty disappointing. I enjoyed the bread, but my dad thought that the bread was a bit too salty as well. The charcuterie tower was a hit and came with A LOT of food already. Looking back, I think just ordering the charcuterie tower by itself should be good enough for appetizers. I also ordered farmer's market fruit salad. It was okay. Unfortunately there was way too much arugula and the bitterness overwhelmed whatever other flavors that was part of the salad. Again, very average experience and not justified by the high price. For the actual entree, I ordered a bone-in dry aged rib eye, my dad ordered the petit filet NY strip, and my mom had catch of the day, which happened to be the sea bass for $38. I didn't think my rib eye was bad, but it wasn't overly amazing either. The NY strip was awesome and wish I had ordered that instead. The sea bass was also cooked to perfection. Sadly, seems like my main dish was the only one that was off. For the side dishes, I do highly recommend the potato puree. The roasted mushroom is again, overly salted. For dessert, we ordered coffee and a tiramisu cheesecake. Amazing amazing cheesecake and excellent coffee. When I asked where the coffee was from, the server actually gave us a free bag of coffee beans since they actually don't sell the coffee at the roaster, so I really appreciated this gesture. Overall, I think the quality of the food here is somewhat inconsistent. Some dishes we had were great and others were off. But the excellent service here (and the fact they gave us free bag of coffee) warrants an extra star, which is why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Would I come back to this place again though? Probably not given how expensive the food is and the inconsistently quality, but it was nice that I gave this place a try in San Diego.
