We came in a couple weeks ago and everything was absolutely amazing! I loved that it was so elegant feeling, with a beautiful atmosphere filled with soft lighting, but also still so lively/fun, and with good music playing. The food and the service were equally outstanding. I really enjoyed all of the entertaining table side menu items they had available to order. Another thing that is always a really big nod to us of great service, is when they treat our kids just as well as us adults. They greeted them, spoke to them, and even ended up creating two mocktails from their personal preferences. We really appreciate that so much! We ended up ordering a variety of things to try for our family of four: the table side Caesar salad, the Steak Sampler, a Filet, Lobster, Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and Truffle Fries - we loved it all! Perfectly cooked and everything we wanted it to be! We were so full, but after viewing the dessert cart all night, we had to try some! The most decadent, delicious, chocolate, layered cake was our pick. As we were waiting tho, we saw the table side banana foster dessert being made and had to order that too! No regrets!! It was all perfect!! They also kindly brought us out a really good peanut butter and jelly macron, but the star was that it was topped with a gold dusted Wu Tang emblem on top - LOVE!! PS - even the bathrooms were fun! I really look forward to trying more of their restaurants!

I simply had to return, had no choice, this excellent restaurant is absolutely wonderful. See the photo of the vegetable Risotto ($35). And Tasty. I always choose Lemonade as my go to beverage of choice, here they do it right, very lemony. (Free refills) Making a reservation is so easy call after 3pm. Done.

Came here solo for my 25th birthday!! Everyone was so nice. I got a complimentary caviar oyster, first time for both and I can't stop getting enough! Lighting was perfect for the evening, and so was the service!

Me and my husband had an amazing experience celebrating our anniversary dinner here! Our server, Packston, was exceptional friendly, attentive, and made our evening even more special. We dined on the rooftop, and the atmosphere was elegant, romantic, and absolutely beautiful. The food was a 10/10! We highly recommend the American Wagyu, it literally melted in our mouths. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Caesar salad was prepared tableside, which was such a fun touch, and it was incredibly flavorful. For dessert, we had the 7-Layer Carrot Cake, and it was the perfect way to end our meal. One of the sweetest surprises was that they took a picture of my husband and me and placed it in a keepsake card. It was such a thoughtful gesture that made our anniversary feel even more special. Even the restrooms were beautiful and upscale, showing the attention to detail throughout the entire restaurant. From the outstanding service to the incredible food and memorable atmosphere, this was truly a wonderful experience. We can't wait to come back! Highly recommend!

The design of Born and Raised is absolutely gorgeous. Every detail of the restaurant feels thoughtfully designed, from the stylish dining rooms to the impressive bar. The atmosphere is especially beautiful in the evening and definitely adds to the overall experience. The biggest disappointment for me was the steak. It looked great, but the flavor was just average and didn't match the high expectations or the price. I've had much better steaks at other steakhouses. If you're looking for a beautiful restaurant with a luxurious atmosphere, this is a great choice. Just don't expect the steak to be the highlight of the evening.

The restaurant was so beautiful and we got sat on the 2nd floor which was nice. Our server Scott was very sweet and attentive. We got the 20oz ribeye steak between 2 people and mac & cheese and mushrooms as our side. The mushrooms in the parmesan sauce was the absolute best. The reason I gave it a 4/5 was because the food took quite awhile to come out and everything was served cold like it was left out for a while. The table-side Cesar salad was good but it's a little on the small side for 2 people to share.

Came here to celebrate my wedding anniversary. It was really posh. Ambiance was warm and intimate. Tables can be a little too close. Seats were very firm. Staff was nice and knowledgeable to the menu, dessert and drinks. Food was great. I enjoyed the steak. Perfectly cooked. The surprising dish was their fresh Caesar salad made in front of you. I really enjoyed the dressing. The Mac and cheese had a different taste than what I'm used to. Maybe more sophisticated lol. More like a sharp, horseradishy tangy taste. Bread crumbs were a good touch. The dessert was lovely, had the bananas foster, and the tiramisu cheesecake. I preferred the bananas foster but would have preferred no actual flame. It charred the layer of meringue a bit. But everything else was divine.

We celebrated our anniversary here, and the entire experience was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. They were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and made our celebration one to remember. The service was just as impressive as the food! And it's such a good vibe. We sat at the rooftop right before sunset. Beautiful!

Came back to try the full menu on mother's day! It was AMAZING. The uni pasta had to have been the highlight of the hot starters. I went with the Dry Aged 20oz bone in ribeye, man, it was delicious! We also opted for a side of dirty hashbrowns and king crab. These were a delight to eat aside of our steaks. The bananas foster baked Alaska was to die for! We wish we had more! Service is also top notch, they are attentive and really ensure your service is going as planned. Thank you for making mother's day dinner great!

Came here for my birthday. They ask if there's anything you're celebrating and really cater to the occasion. Special menu with my name on it and my espresso martini also said happy birthday. Super pretty inside and the seats were comfortable. We had a small table for two and shared the beef tartare. Also got the steak sampler for two with mushrooms, broccolini and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious. Would definitely come back again!

Make a reservation (on the top floor, if you can) so you don't miss out if they're fully booked. Amazing customer service, friendly and professional. Ordered New York strip, ribeye, dirty hash browns, and broccolini everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Bars on both floors and restrooms only on top floor. Stunning views (top floor) of the city and fresh air while you eat.

My partner and I had a 7 pm reservation and arrived about five minutes early, but we still had to wait around 20 minutes to be seated. What made it a little confusing was that once we were seated, the section had multiple open tables already available. Fortunately, the night improved from there. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit, so keep that in mind, but it creates a relaxing atmosphere. The music was also something you wouldn't typically expect from a steakhouse, and I actually appreciated that since it matched the vibe of the restaurant well. We started with the "tableside" Caesar, which, unfortunately, was not prepared tableside, but it was still good. For our mains, we both ordered the NY strip, and both steaks were cooked perfectly. To go alongside them, we ordered the broccolini, dirty hash browns, and truffle fries. All of the sides were solid, but the dirty hash browns were definitely my favorite of the three. We also got to try all of the steak sauces they offered, which was a nice bonus to the meal.

1/2 Born and Raised is undeniably one of the most stunning dining rooms in San Diego, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. We felt it from the moment we walked in. We kicked things off with dirty martinis, which were delicious but poured a little light. For starters, we tried the Petite King Crab with bonito mayo and chive oil, and the Caesar salad. The king crab had a slightly fishy edge, though the lemon gelée did a nice job cutting through it. The Caesar was fine, visually striking with the whole lettuce leaves, but honestly I'd prefer it chopped. The trend feels more aesthetic than practical. For mains, we split the NYC strip and the ribeye. Both were cooked well and enjoyable, but neither hit that "wow" moment you hope for at a steakhouse of this caliber. The real showstopper? The Dirty Hashbrowns with trout roe and crème fraîche. Absolutely unhinged in the best way, fun, decadent, different, and completely stole the show. We paired dinner with a smooth California Cab that was a perfect complement. Bottom line: the food is solid but a bit inconsistent in show stopping. The vibes, however, are a 10/10. If you're going for atmosphere and a memorable night out, Born and Raised delivers. Just order the hashbrowns. Non-negotiable.

Is any of your meat from Creekstone Farms still?

They don't specify. But recently I've had Creekstone Farms steak at the steakhouse at Sycuan Casino (Bull and Bourbon steakhouse) and it was DELICIOUS. Liked the steak there over Born & Raised.

No but they have incredible house made potato chips

no. it is not dog friendly period

    Is this under 21 friendly?

They are under 21 friendly. Took my daughter here for her 19th birthday. Nice upscale restaurant. Probably not a restaurant for infants.

I don't know the price of an espresso martini. But drink are normally $18-$22 drink .

For me it was! The price depends on what champagne/rosé you get! I got a rosé and believe it was $17, my boyfriend picked a champagne and it was $20.

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

Parking is a nightmare good luck finding parking within a mile of the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere, drinks, service Cons: food wasn't great for the price, restaurant was small and crowded, no parking Service: All of our servers were friendly and very accommodating. Gave us some knowledge on the menu and recommended cocktails based on our preference. I had spilled my drink and they were quick to make me another one. Food: I had intended to get the prime ribeye cap steak but they ran out for the night around 8pm. I shared the steak sampler which came with four different cuts of steak and 4 sauces. I ordered medium and it was cooked medium/medium rare which was fine with me, it also had a good sear, almost burnt though. Out of the four steaks, we only liked two based off flavor and tenderness. The other two were more tough and gamey. None of the sauces really stood out but the bordelaise and horseradish were good. For our sides we got fries, roasted broccoli, and the grilled wedge salad. Fries were average. The roasted broccoli had really good flavor, I expected the broccoli to be al dente but it was cooked to mush and drenched in sauce. The grilled wedge salad was decent, there was a slightly bitter taste to it. I know it says grilled wedge but the experience of biting into the salad and it being both hot and cold was not pleasant. Cocktails: I tried the Honey Ryder and New Wave. These were recommended as the more fruity/sweet cocktails. You can definitely taste the alcohol but it's only 2oz so it's not too strong. Ambience: 10/10 I got seated downstairs by the bar. Only thing about downstairs is that it's too dark to take photos unless you use flash. Overall, I agree with the other reviews saying to go just for drinks and appetizers. I would go again just to sit upstairs and get drinks and take pictures. If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

Definitely make a reservation in advance through OpenTable because they fill up pretty quickly. There is also a deposit required, which you can lose if you no-show or cancel within 24 hours, but the deposit is refunded once you arrive for your reservation. When you arrive, a hostess greets you at the entrance. There's a small waiting area where you can sit until they come get you. Then there's a door where you press a button, and it opens to bring you into the restaurant/bar. Inside, there's a mix of tables and bar seating, and they serve food in addition to having an extensive cocktail menu. The drink menu was definitely the highlight for me. There were so many creative and unique cocktails that really stood out. I'm usually not a huge cocktail person because I don't like overly sweet drinks, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find cocktails that are both original and sophisticated enough to actually sip and enjoy. They definitely nailed that here. I tried several: *Kasato Maru: This was so smooth and absolutely delicious. By far my favorite. You could really pick up the St. Germain elderflower and pear, and the flavors worked beautifully together. Definitely one of my favorites. *Sunomono: This was more liquor-forward, but still incredibly smooth. Definitely a good choice if you want something that lets the spirits shine. *Je Ju: Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. It had a really unusual flavor that just didn't work with my palate, and my friend wasn't a fan either. I'm usually not one to send a drink back, but the staff was fantastic about it. They happily took it back and made me a completely different cocktail. *Softly Spoken: My friend ordered this one, and it came in a glass filled with small ice cubes. I tried it and thought it was really good, but it wasn't quite my personal preference. It definitely had more of a fruity flavor profile. The food looked absolutely amazing although we didn't eat here this time. There are still so many cocktails on the menu that I want to try so I'll definitely need to come back. The atmosphere is dimly lit, intimate, and full of character. It has that cool, moody feel that makes you want to sit back, sip a cocktail, and stay awhile. And the service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, this was such a fun experience. Great atmosphere, creative cocktails, excellent service, and plenty more on the menu I still want to try. I can't wait to come back!
