I have taken this bus from sac to sf twice probably both within the last few weeks and both times have been fine! My first time it was a little late but things happens and not everything is always perfect. This is an extremely cheap and easy way to get to sf and I have found no complaints. Both times the bus has been clean and a nice experience if you can get the front seats up top! read more

Megabus was a great way to get to SFO from Sacramento. Comfortable, clean on time and safe! thanks for the experience, my son takes this bus on this route all the time, so we had to try it as well. Megabus was convenient, but the wifi sucks! Pros: Megabus likely offers the most convenient schedules to their locations, the buses are clean, they are on time (trust me on this one, I was 5 min late and missed my bus), and they are organized. When I missed my first bus, they were cool, they just allowed me to take the next available bus. Cons: The wifi sucks! It worked on my iphone but didn't on my ipad. The wifi was also spotty and slow, therefore, if you have a vision of easily and comfortably working while megabusing, I would say NO. The wifi is only good for checking mail and facebook on your iphone. In other words, don't think you can play executive on megabus, "play" being the appropriate word because a real executive would have opted for a plane ticket. read more

Ok like other relationships Me and Megabus started out on the wrong foot but we started over and things are much better. I just completed my third roundtrip on Megabus. I was able to take myself, my wife and a friend to San Francisco and back for $42 dollars total round trip. (Beat that Amtrak). The buses themselves are modern and the whole double decker thing is cool. The driver going down was professional safe and courteous and the one coming back had us cracking up. They definitely fixed the WiFi and it worked the whole trip just fine for facebook and catching up on forums. (I would recommend that you not stream videos or play huge multiplayer games as it will jam up the WiFI for everyone else including you.) This is no different than the WiFi on Amtrak. I love the table seating downstairs for setting up my laptop and watching I-80 roll on by. Yes the stops are little more than a place to wait for the bus but remember your saving a boat load of cash and once you get on the bus it's not so bad. Overall I'll be back on Megabus in a month to do it again and maybe someday I'll go down to LA on them. I'd go to LA sooner if they ran a direct Sacramento to LA Bus. read more

I WAS CRUSHED BY THE BACK DOOR!!! Arrived in SF today and last to get off. The back door closed on me! I'm screaming "Open the door" others are screaming and the door is crushing me. The bus driver couldn't open it mechanically.The safety release did not work. Others came to help and finally opened it enough for me to slide out. The bus driver said he didn't know why the door wouldn't open. He said he'd report "the problem". WHAT ELSE IS NOT MAINTAINED ON THESE BUSES? BEWARE! read more

Just took the Megabus from Sac to SF and back the next day. Cost was $23.50. $11 each way and $1.50 processing fee. It's a bus and I'm a big guy, 6'1". The seats were comfortable. I used the bathroom once and it was clean. The trip to SF took one hour and 50 minutes. Back it was and hour and 40 minutes. The driver and assistants were courteous and helpful. I took a carry-on that fit under the seat, but it looked like there was no problem if you had luggage. Once in SF on Townsend street, I was picked up by my daughter, but I saw lots of cabs and the stop is in the middle of a transportation hub. My question is "Why drive when you can take the bus?" read more

I will never ride Megabus again. I took a Megabus from Sacramento to San Francisco over the Christmas holiday and then caught a connecting bus to Los Angeles with return travel 2 days later. Returning from Los Angeles the bus arrived 2.5 hours later than its scheduled time. I communicated with customer service while on the bus to ensure accommodation for me and my son and was told to call when we arrived. Did that and they left us stranded at 10:00 pm on San Francisco street. No cab or Uber would drive us to Sacramento. We finally got transported to Greyhound with my sisters help and caught the last bus to Sacramento arriving home at 4:00 am. read more

By far the cheapest way to get from Sacramento to San Francisco, and the bus goes straight to the SF Caltrain station - very quick if there's no traffic. Bus itself was very nice, thought the wifi didn't work for me. For $16 round trip, you can't complain. Ticket prices vary depending on when you buy the ticket and how many people have already bought tickets for your bus. read more

May 3rd from Sacramento to San Francisco 6:00 am departure is delayed by an hour. We were told it was a mechanical problem. It is a very bad business practice not to have a contact phone number and to not let passengers know ahead of time that it is delayed. If the driver already know at 5:30 the bus is broken, he should have let us know so that we are not waiting for an hour. Some peoples livelihood depend on being on time. I am extremely upset at coach USA/megabus for their lack of coach maintenance as issues happen often and their lateness! Don't count on megabus at all! Only use it if time is not an issue! read more

Terrible communications for a transportation company. You need to figure out a way to communicate when you're running late and why. Leaving folks standing in the hot sun for 30+ minutes after the scheduled departure time is unacceptable. Never again. read more

If you are disabled and-or a senior citizen or both like me, then in my opinion do NOT use Megabus. Actually, anyone who's not masochistic should stay away from Megabus. Oh yes it is cheap and yes....it's a cheap, shifty company. 1. I arrived 30 minutes before departure time. There were several long lines of people with luggage in front of them standing at attention. A young man with dreadlock marched up and down the line yelling at anyone that moved. After a 30 minute wait we were marched off as if to a Soviet era Gulag. We received NO help with our luggage and had to load it ourselves. 2. The bus was a lease and had nearly bald tires, no shock absorbers, and was filthy. It's wifi did not work even with megabus app. No usb plugs available. 3. The bus began loading at departure time and left 25 minutes late. 4. No seating or accomodations for disabled while waiting. 5. No assistance or in-bus accomodations for disabled or elderly. I will not use Megabus again. I was looking for an alternative to Greyhound whose prices are high and service low. Megabus is good if you cannot afford more and enjoy the 3rd world experience it offers. I do Not recommend it to anyone. read more

Expect to leave at least a half hour late to wherever you are going in the city. This bus is NEVER on time from sacramento 6:15 to sf. I am a teacher in SF and need to be at work on time, this bus SUCKS at being convenient. The african american lady likes to make excuses for why shes late everyday too. No body cares about your excuse, just get us to where we need to be on time, and show up when you are scheduled to! 6:15!!! not :6:45!!!! I should have free rides by now considering this is an every day problem. This is upsetting and a disappointment. I only have one month left before i move to the city, BE ON TIME PLEASE!!!!!!!!! I often take megabus to go back and forth between Sacramento and SF and I always have a great experience.

Only good thing is it's cheaper, No refund policy, no missed bus policy, no exceptions. A bus is a bus, Greyhound policy will let you take the next bus if you miss the one you planned to take. The prices are lower, but not if you miss your bus, for that reason Greyhound is cheaper. Will never use them again. Southwest would be cheaper then a missed bus. read more

MegaBus is great. When it's on time. There are specific drivers that arrive early. Get everyone processed and we're on our way in no time at all. Then. There are other drivers, who are late, or show up when the bus should be leaving. I have been late to work (more than 15-30 minutes) three times a week due to Megabus's tardiness. They really need to get better drivers. If they know traffic is going to be heavy, they should leave earlier. People depend on MegaBus for work, travel, and more. I'm really disappointed in them as a company, and am furious at the specific driver, that no matter what day, I am always late. read more

The reason this bus is so cheap is because they are difficult. I had luggage with me from SF to Sac that wasn't allowed back on the bus with me on my return trip. No prior warning was given and no alternatives were provided. Regulations allow for snow gear to be stored so long as it is in a case that is no larger than 62". My bag was definitely smaller than that and yet they flat out refused to load it. I will most likely never use this service again. read more

Extremely worst service ever. Its January 7th 2016 today and my parents are waiting at the San Francisco stop since 5:15 and the bus was supposed to leave at 5:40pm and its been an hour an a half. Its an extremely cold night and my old parents had to wait in the cold for so long. The customer service is extremely bad rather worst. They had no answer to the delay , not refunding the money , not transferring the call to the supervisor . The first excuse given by the bunch of representatives was that the bus is running late and we are sending a single decker bus, but again we are not able to provide the time. After given the same excuse by almost 6 representatives, all of a sudden a new excuse was given that the bus left at 5:43pm. The first representative named Pedrick hung up the call without listening, the next time i called it was the same person and he hung up the call by recognizing the number , the second named Pansy did the same without providing any assistance , and the third named Lisa and it went on. No one transferred to the manager. My parents had to come back home and miss the event in sacramento. Not recommended to use their service . Extremely worst. Hella worst. No one should use their service . They don't even deserve any negative stars. read more
