    8 inch Italian sandwich
    Richard H.

Passing through here around 1 PM on Sunday afternoon.. need something to eat. I smelled the baking a fresh bread. Which led us to the Sourdough and Co. Sacramento Valley Station restaurant?... We picked up two sandwiches, and one salad to go ... The bread is very fresh and still warm by the time we got to our apartment. The salad was also delicious. So if you're on the go but need something to fill your tummy. This is an excellent place to pick something up. We got 2 8. inch Italian sandwiches. on fresh crunchy bread. They were delicious even though they are a little pricey. I also recommend getting a salad which is approximately costing 12 $13..

Public transportation for work or a weekend trip to see a ball game. Check the schedules as a reduction in service to some trains. Capitol Corridor has some fare discounts available via the web only.

Train takes 1 hr and 45 min to cover 70 miles from Sacramento to Oakland, and that's when all the stars in Amtrak constellation line up right. I am attaching a train schedule from 1939 so everybody can see that 80 years ago the same trip took just as long as today, i.e. ZERO PROGRESS. Every politician who control the Capitol Express funds should be investigated for corruption and checked for mental incompetence.

I take many trains from this station. The staff is helpful and it is very clean and organized. The station itself is also very pretty and has a very nice interior. There is also a Starbucks right next door to have coffee or a snack at.

Pic I took on the Capitol Corridor train right after it left the great America station

If your looking for a nice inexpensive trip to the bayarea, Amtrak would be your best bet. I've had majority positive experience from them.

I noticed not that many times to choose from going to Davis from Sacramento. We missed the 2 pm. We had to wait almost an hour and half until the next one. We bought our tickets then realized no one told us where we actually get onto the train. Our friend went back in..at the ticket booth the man that helped us was very nice and very helpful. He gave the kids coloring books and pins. Finally on the train it was bumper then I remembered, moved around a lot reminded me being on boat. Can not have bags or luggage out on tables or seats. I think we got called out, but we weren't sure since it was over the load speaker. We had a small bag it had food and snacks in it. We put into the over head. We went to check out the food car. So the kids could feel what it was like to walk from car to car..the food car was mostly over priced snacks. Canned, bottled drinks and packs of chips or nuts. When we arrived in Davis. They said over the loud speaker they do not stop for to long you need to get off so get ready. We couldn't open the over head to get our bag back out. It was stuck. Other passengers helped us open it, they said you really need to pull it hard. Once off the train the Davis train station and building looked so old and run down..so sad looking compared to Sacramento station. We didn't know no one would be there to buy return tickets. But they do offer more times leaving back to Sacramento. We purchased online. We had many people asking if they were in the right place while we were waiting. Davis such a cute town seems like they would clean up the station areas.

I purchase my ticket online and it was fairly easy. The customer service was good. There was a rep in the lobby that clarified my pickup destination and offered a golf cart ride if needed. The train was full but not crowded. I was able to find a seat fairly easily. The ride was comfortable, I was able to read my book and relax. The downside was that I would've liked to wipe down my chair and table. Yes it's public transportation but it would be nice if they had Clorox wipes and sanitary stations available for passengers to wipe down their area.

The Green line has not operated for approximately a year. The RT stations periodically closed. Now all stations in the downtown area are closed. The new trains are very dangerous. My bet is an Americans with Disability Class Action law suit is coming to SacRT. The physically disabled riders can not board. The ramps and doors don't operate correctly not allowing the disabled riders board. They are left standing in the station. California Zephyr Chicago-Sacramento, June 15-17, 2026. Train 5, Bedroom 532A. Here's the good -…read morethe staff was super friendly. Our room attendant, Ricky, helped us with bed set up, showed us where bottled water was stashed, and even tried to fix the broken upper birth (see Bad) to no avail. The dining was fine. Train food with the same menu for the duration of the trip. They ran out of a few things along the way (chicken for Caesar salad, for example), but restocked in Denver. The dining car staff was really great - sweet and very patient. Our party of 2 people was seated with another party of 2 every time - there is only one dining car for all the folks so they require you to make a reservation or eat in your room. All we did for two and a half days was look out the window and eat, so really nice that the staff was so sweet! Bad - the room that we paid a lot of money for had a broken bed. I am still trying to convey this to Amtrak customer service (the phone customer service is really UGLY, due to understaffing I think after waiting for someone for over an hour now). So if you are booked into room 532A - get reassigned! We tried to do this but the train was sold out. There is something wrong with paying what we did for the experience and being given no sleep. The rooms themselves are pretty nice - we didn't feel the need to fight for observation car space (there are probably 30 - 40 seats total in observation car with zero time restrictions). Why they don't have more than one observation car for a sold out train is a mystery to me . . . so many Amtrak mysteries. Scenery was outstanding. We met fun people. My carry-on size suitcase did fit on the room's luggage rack. My son brought a backpack. Rooms are so small that it is a huge challenge to change into jammies at night. Will never do this again. Be warned - the Nebraska tracks are very bumpy and the train seems to have made up time at night - hang on! Hi Yelpers! . . . here's a GOOD update, which I'm adding a month later . . . My outreach to Amtrak Customer Service ultimately turned out to be a super positive experience! After sending them a note with photo documentation of our experience, I received a form letter that seemed like no one had read the complaint. I replied to that form letter in a positive manner with same complaint - the upper berth in our bedroom was broken and we got very little sleep on the trip. I detailed this misfortune, including photos, and the very next day received an apology from Amtrak rep and a promise (which was kept!) to refund half of the cost of the trip! They refunded us on our credit card - no voucher for future travel! THANK YOU AMTRAK!!! Probably won't do the trip again, but I wanted to update the experience. I am shocked that we received a refund. Keep the faith folks! :-)
