I've never traveled in buses that was that poor in terms of quality. On a trip to Toronto, first bus was immobilized after the first stop because it started leaking oil. We had to wait half an hour for another bus to pick us up. Second bus starting making this horrible clanking noise, one hour before arrival, that gave me a huge headache. I know it's cheap, but I traveled in Eastern Europe for cheaper prices and with buses that were very comfortable. There must be a compromise between this and this crap. read more

Yesterday i had a trip from Montreal to Toronto, The bus had a noisy chairs and stopped at Kingston for 15 min break, But it took more than one hours without any announcement and passengers were confused. UI supposed to be 9pm at the Union station but bus arrived Union at 11 pm at night I had another one hour to rich my home it was too late at the night was not safe to walk to get the bus so I needed to get an uber and I had stress until got home never get the Megabus again it was so expensive cost $85 and not a pleasant trip. read more

Not worth 1 star, but had to choose something ... Booked a bus for 4am departure in Kingston to Toronto. We had a flight to catch that afternoon. We were going to arrive at airport 5hrs in advance (due to limited bus service availability). We sat at the bus depot for 2.5hours. Driver never did arrive. On top of the $250 in bus tickets, we then had to pay for a uber to make it to the airport on time (another $480 expense). When we complained about the terrible service and lack of notice to its patrons; the company offered an insulting $10 credit to be used on their bus lines. Not per person nor per ticket .... $10 total. Basically they said 'thanks for the donation' and peaced out. Absolutely will NEVER use this Company as an option of travel. About 1.5 months ago, I took a bus from Montreal to Toronto for a 9am job interview. Supposed to arrive at 6.35am, but the bus had engine trouble and eventually arrived at 8:45am-too late. Today Megabus made it VERY clear they do not care about their customers. Our 2-hour bus ride was delayed by 3 hours because they oversold their bus seats. So they literally profited off our stolen time. EDIT: turned out to be delayed by 5 hours! They tell you to "wait at the terminal in case it does come early" but it doesn't. So you can't walk around town, get a bite to eat, or anything - you have to sit/stand at a crowded terminal for three hours. THEN the bus driver boarding us made all these "jokes" about cutoffs because there were so many people looking to get on the bus. He joked that we wouldn't all fit. But we did. Then he said that it would "be a FULL bus" which it wasn't, but he led us to believe it would be packed. Then he attempted to "hype" the crowd? Just awful. They changed the pick up location in London to a parking lot outside Canadian Tire. The lot is huge, and customer service REFUSES to specify where exactly the bus is supposed to stop. My 70 year old mother was waiting at this stop for 45 minutes. The bus arrived on the other side of the lot behind a building, where people couldn't see. Driver literally drove past my mom. Upon riding the Megabus I can confidently say that the Megabus was nothing like the many one-star reviews. Everything about the Megabus was great. It powered through a snowstorm to get us to and from our destination, demonstrating unmatched reliability, as every other mode of transportation was shut down. Even while driving through the snowstorm, I never felt nervous by the conditions. The drivers were the best I've had, ensuring that it was a smooth ride the entire trip. I would give this company 0/5 stars if I could. I used to book all my trips to Toronto with them, however the last 3 trips I booked with them have been cancelled last minute. They provide you with a link to "reschedule your bus" - but that link doesn't work. And then they don't issue you a refund. They gave us the cancellation notice a solid 16h after the bus was supposed to leave. Since I had to get back the day of, I could only buy another bus ticket that had jacked-up prices. Story from Toronto. Took Megabus a few years ago and it was ok, so I thought I'd try again. BIG MISTAKE. When i opened their website the ticket said $30. I opened another window to check another price, and when i came back to the Megabus window 2 minutes later it refreshed and the price was now $35. Weird but fine, I'm buying last-minute. The new terminal they leave from is convenient for buses to get to but terrible for human beings to get to. I managed to arrive a minute or two before my bus, only to find the gate locked and no reps on my side to talk to. I banged on the door as my bus driver walked slowly by, looked at me, then continued to stroll slowly around the bus. I ran to a security guard who told me 'gates are shut, try the Megabus desk'. As I waited in line for the one customer service rep, my bus drove away. I was told that 'it's like an airport, once the gate is shut you're out of luck'. What the hell? Why would a bus station need to be run like an airport???? When I got to the desk, the rep hand-wrote a note to the driver to let him know I was on standby. "He'll know what it means." Umm, what?? I was told that I can wait 2 hours for the next bus and IF there's a seat available they would take me. If I wanted to guarantee a seat on that bus, you guessed it, I would have to buy another ticket. What a stinking pile of garbage service. I will never be taking Megabus again, and I will be making sure to tell everyone I know not to waste their money and time. Go Transit and Via Rail both provide far superior customer service and vehicles at a better price. read more

Someone came to check it out while we were stopped in Kingston, but nothing came from that. It was just hours of sitting there uncomfortably cold. It was too cold to sleep. Deciding not to go on a tour to see Niagara Falls, my husband and I had to figure our how to get to Niagara Falls on our own. As neither of us drives, renting a car was not an option, so we opted for Megabus, which seemed like a reliable choice. The drive between Toronto and Niagara Falls is about two hours, and the cost of two round-trip tickets were $80+ tax (ie. $20 for one one-way ticket). While not cheap, it's not excessively expensive either, and if you think about it, you're paying $10 per hour, per person. Quite reasonable, in my opinion. You could also pay an extra fee for "assigned seating", which we didn't do, and after taking Megabus, there is absolutely no reason to pay for assigned seating -- just make sure you get there early in order to grab a seat with your travel partner. (Due to COVID, many seats were blocked off.) The pick up and drop off locations for the Toronto/Niagara Falls route was the bus depot at Union Station in Toronto (which was convenient for us, as our hotel was across from Union Station, although the bus depot was at the back of the station, so it took a good 15 or so minutes to get to the bus depot) and the Niagara Falls bus depot, with two brief stops in Grimsby and St Catherine's. No complaints about the bus ride -- while nothing outstanding, there were no complaints, and it was a pretty comfortable ride. However, one thing that would be nice are earlier and later departures. In addition to debating whether we should go to Niagara Falls with a tour, we were also deciding whether we should spend the night. The main reason we decided against a tour was we wanted to spend more than three or four hours at Niagara Falls, but looking at the Megabus schedule, if we wanted to return the same day, we wouldn't get much more time. The departures from Toronto were 9:30am, 12:30am, and 4:30pm, arriving in Niagara Falls two hours later, and the departure times from Niagara Falls were also 9:30am, 12:30am, and 4:30pm. So if we didn't want to spend the night, the earliest we'd arrive in Niagara Falls is 11:30am, and the latest we could depart is 4:30pm, and taking into account the 30 or so minutes we'd need to get to and from the station in Niagara Falls (the station is not actually that close to the falls -- while it's a quick drive, it's about a 40 minute walk, and if you take a cab/Uber, you have to factor in the wait time), that really only leaves noon to 4pm, at the most. It would have been nice if there were an early morning departure from Toronto and an evening departure from Niagara Falls, although maybe they don't offer that due to rush hour. All in all, if you want to travel between Toronto and Niagara Falls and driving is not an option, then Megabus is a reliable choice. It's nothing special, but it will get you there. You absolutely cannot beat the prices of tickets when they are first released. They go up as the travel date gets closer, so be sure to check and see if Via Rail or another bus service is cheaper if you are not getting tickets right away. The seats are surprisingly comfortable. You are able to pick where you would like to sit. Spots tend to fill up fast, so arrive early if you are travelling with someone and want to sit together. The bathrooms on board are standard as far as space and cleanliness, but when you are on the road almost anything will do. Sometimes there are delays, but as a frequent traveller I do not find that this happens any more frequently than with any other method of transportation. read more

We expected to face a horrible 7.5 hour journey to Montreal from Toronto based on the reviews, but we were greatly surprised as the journey was problem free. While our trip there was delayed, it was nothing to fault Mega Bus for, in a snowstorm, they got us to Montreal safe and sound, slowing the journey for our safety. The bus is advertised as a luxury bus, with wifi and plug outlets. No wifi no plugs. The bathroom is a hole with a toilet seat. No flushing no sink. No overhead to put a carryon. Very limited legroom. I paid $10 extra for "special seating" .The bus's shocks or springs are gone. They need to retire some busses and update the ones they have. We purchased bus tickets for Niagara Falls at the Megabus ticket counter at the bus stations. The price was one way for $75. OO (CAD) for two persons. We would have bought FLEX BUS tickets on line which is the only way to buy FLEX BUS Tickets at a much lower cost. In hindsight I definitely would buy FLEX BUS Tickets to Niagara Falls than pay for this inflated fare. The bus is OK, spacious, not many people on board, had plug outlet for charging, had overhead bins and the nice employees took our luggage to be put onboard the bus. The bus had two stops before Niagara Falls bus station, St Catherine's and Brock University. No seat belts on this bus! The bus driver never made any announcements except for the stops. He did get us to our destination though. So no problem with the ride and it left on time from the station. read more

Hello, Complete garbage, I've been taking them on and off for the last 20 years .. to save a few bucks when tain too expensive . Ive always been late but I never complained , I understand that they can't predict traffic. Last Friday I was stuck for an hour and half at the layover in Kingston on the way to Toronto due to bus driver replacement being late. Shows up late and starts being rude to everyone.. goes to see me in the middle of the parking lot about 20-30meters away from Any entrance while I'm vaping to tell me to get away from him im polluting his air. My sisters and I decided to take the bus as we were going to bury our mother in Montreal. From Toronto to Kingston we slept as we have been stressed and in despair. The bus ride from Toronto to Kingston was pleasant and relaxing. The driver was friendly and had great customer service with a smile. As soon as we pulled into Kingston station Sept 2nd at 3:05pm passengers were leaving the bus we had 10 minutes to spare I decided to stretch my legs in the aisle. As soon as the second driver an Eastern European male began his shift he looked at myself and my two sisters(women of color)and he addressed the three of us to our face in the aisle of the bus and says :We can't sit together because we are not family? (How does he know we are not family) Meanwhile we've been sitting together the whole ride down.. he was very aggressive with his tone. It was myself my two sisters an Indian son and mother a white woman and a brown woman sitting in the lower level of the bus all witnessing his behavior. We tried to explain to him that we are family and we've been sitting here the whole trip. He then says to us : Now listen to me I am talking!!!!! Now listen to me I am talking!!! (WTH) our eyes popped out of our heads... He was addressing us like we were children his tone his demeanor was so disrespectful and shocking...Then he also has the nerve to tell us...there's no laughing and there's no talking and no walking up and down the aisle of the bus? No laughing/ No Talking????!!! What?????? We're on a damn bus...We're the hell are we?? We are three grown professional women two of my sisters are lawyers and I work in healthcare. My sister speaks up and says Sir...we are not in the mood to laugh as we are going to bury our dead mother. He then changes his demeanor and says that he buried his mom three years ago so he knows how we feel. Meanwhile as he's addressing us he's NOT EVEN WEARING A MASK!!! I have been riding the megabus for a couple years and it has slowly deteriorated. Ticket prices go up on important dates because they like to scalp students and their fees are ridiculous. Don't try to use their customer service because they will charge you more for calling. There are frivoulous fees on top of the ridiculous cost that they ask you to pay for what is a very low cost service. You certainly wont get money back for late buses or those that literally drop you off at a different location where you have to walk a mile with a 50lb suitcase, but they will of course make you pay the most ridiculous amount for any little mistake you make such as 10$ including fees to change your reservation no matter how far in advance. read more
