The day before Mother's Day I enter Megan's Nails note I'm a black woman, I stand at the reception area no one greets me or anything instead I get told very rudely to sit and wait. I go sit and wait not even a minute later a white woman comes in they greet her " Goodmorning " what do you need , go ahead take seat 10. I look over at the man who had told me to wait didn't even speak to me and he knew I was furious. I politely got up and walked out. I felt like damn is my money even good enough. It amazes me how many people rate this as more than 2 stars. The only reason I am rating it 2 stars is because it is spacious, clean and cheap. However, that is not my top priority when I go to get my nails done. My top priority is my nails. WTF. I had my nails done at KT's nails for over 17 years. I get acrylics. In 17 years I only had to have the nails removed and replaced 3 times. The average age of nails at Megans seems to be about 2 months. They rarely put the oils to prevent fungal infection, they NEVER push my cuticles back (they are so ragged right now it is hideous). They do not take off or put on enough acrylic around the nail beds, they cannot shape an even nail and 75% of the people there struggle when trying to apply polish. They seriously approach it sort of like a 5 year old who is trying hard to get it right but does not have the motor skills. I don't want fast cheaply done nails. I want nails done right. They do my nails in 1/3 of the time would take if Tom at KT's was still doing them. I have literally been to 8 different nail places since Tom disappeared and had multiple people at each place try. IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE .. IS THERE NO WHERE TO GET NAILS DONE RIGHT. And don't even get me started on the pedicure. They give good massage but once again. I don't get a pedicure for the massage. read more

This is officially my current go-to nail spot. They have tons of space and AMAZING massage chairs! They are attentive to you and are strict about the time they close, which is nice if you're running in for a quick pedi after a late night at work. I've had variance in the quality of the pedi's/mani's I've gotten here....everything from good to great. Nothing terrible though. The price point is also average for this area. If I could give zero stars I would. This was the most horrible nail service I've ever had. When I walked in I told the staff what I wanted to get done and after I was seated they asked me multiple times if I wanted to get other services that would cost more than what I wanted. I told them multiple times that I just wanted my nails painted with gel and a pedicure and they finally stopped and told me that it would be $72, $12 for my nails and $60 for my pedicure, which was $45 for the pedicure plus $15 for gel. The lady finished my pedicure which was definitely not worth $45 and proceeded to paint my toes. Mind you they don't have gel curers for toes so they put regular hand ones down on the ground so I never really got a good look of my toes while at the shop. It wasn't until I got home that I realized she got paint all on the top of my skin at the base of my toenails. Before she started painting my nails the price of my nails suddenly changed from $72 to $85 because she "didn't know I wanted gel". Even though I had told them multiple times what I wanted done after being hassled to get something else that was more expensive. I told her to just give me regular polish at that point because I felt like she was just trying to get more money. When painting my nails there was still some tiny spots where my old nail polish was visible. She acted like she buffed it all down, but when I looked at my nails you could still see my old polish. Once I brought it to her attention she got an attitude and said she couldn't fix it knowing that it was an easy fix. Aside from the lousy nail job, the staff was extremely loud shouting at each other and arguing. One of the staff had her mask off and was sneezing and coughing excessively loud almost on purpose like she had no regard for the customers. It was extremely unprofessional. I will never go back to Megan's and I wouldn't suggest anyone that wants a nice respectful nail service to come here. read more

I am an incredibly patient person especially dealing with people/ companies that provide customer service. However, this was the worst nail experience I have ever had in my life. The woman doing my nails was not only rough, but she rushes through the entire process. She also made an offensive comment to my friend about how she looks and her ethnicity. I have never had someone pull out there phone and make a call on speaker while a client is right in front of them. The staff was friendly enough; they kept it short and sweet but I could tell they like to get their customers in and out as quickly as possible. I walked in on a Saturday morning and sat right down for my pedicure which was great. I loved the attentiveness and massage with hot stones at the end. While getting a full set I did notice more and more people coming in but no wait was over 10 minutes. In trying something new, I asked for coffin shape and I was pleased with the outcome. I am so upset!!! I came in this morning to get powder with tips with my best friend. The lady told me my natural nails were long enough and didn't need it, then said she'd take off as little as possible so I agreed. After she spent an entire hour sloppily and heavily dipping my nails I had noticed a space was empty and needed more coverage and the color was not at all what my friend and I had picked(we chose the same Tiffany's blue glitter shade). When I said something she blamed the dip and moved my fingers into the dryer. It was busy and she moved on but another girl came to finish me up with some oil and paint brush but the polish wasn't even dry and she was just ruining each of my nails "seeing if their dry", THEY CLEARLY WERENT! So now my nails were ruined and she was like "haha we will fix it",then I waited another 20min for someone else to come fix it. This lady butchered my nails! She took a cotton ball and started removing the top layer, leaving a ton of lint in my nails, but didn't remove the polish that was now stuck to actual fingers? She then took a nail file and proceeded to give me nubs for fingernails, making them look like they belong on some toes! After that I pointed out the spot that had already been there and some of the lint stuck on my nails and she couldn't care less... She began sloppily covering my nails while 3 customers came up complaining about how bad their nails looked. She just ignored these customers until they had to yell at her for attention, like just address your customers who wanted their nails fixed!! The environment became so tense and hostile, one of the older gentleman slammed money on the counter and told the guest to leave. I just wanted to go home at this point, my friend had to go to work so I was there alone and upset at how bad my nails clearly looked. I felt so uncomfortable telling the lady I her to fix my nails properly, at this point they just needed to come off completely. When it was time to dry them, she put on five more coats of polish making it look like I had bubble nails. She didn't even care to check if they were dry then asked "did your friend even pay?", which was really rude and when I said yes and her nail tech said she did pay, this lady asked if I was sure? Like obviously trying to get me to pay double for my friend, then didn't even give me a discount or anything!!! I asked her if that was right and she acted like I was crazy or something lol so I was very upset bc I had to pay full price for the ugliest bubble nails that were the wrong color and had lint all stuck in them. My cuticles are a mess, the nails are different lengths and shapes, the polish is all over my actual fingers, you can see in one picture some coming off. I know I should've said something right there but the salon was so packed and filled with angry customers already, I decided I'd just go back tomorrow and get it fixed or a refund at the very least. I came to read reviews and see if this was a normal thing and have found that not only is it normal but their racist to customers of color. I'm mad that I supported a place like this at all and will not be returning after getting them fixed tomorrow. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I got a regular pedicure and manicure and the paint job was barely even a mediocre job. I don't know what's a normal tip amount, but I gave the worker a 20% tip before she did the manicure. The top coat didn't cover enough so my nails are already chipping in less than five days after I got them done. Coverage wasn't the worse but she could've done better if i was paying her, in my opinion, a good amount. A piece of lint accidentally dried with my ring finger nail, and i asked if they could redo it. I would've rather left the lint than had them redo it because my nail polish looked worse. I have been to this spot about four times because it's the closest to me. This last time was my worst experience and really encouraged me to rather go somewhere better that is farther from me for the same price. read more

This place has the best pedicure I think I've ever had they are super thorough and pay close attention to what they are doing. It was nice to not be man handled yet get a good exfoliation. I went into the salon last week after I read the reviews and I was not impressed. The technician was rude. She didn't ask me if I wanted my nails cut down or filled. I had to tell her everything. She didn't ask what shape I wanted my nails filed. I had a shellac manicure and I know you are supposed to wash your hand after the filing before the gel is applied. I had to asked to wash my hands she said no, not necessary. Very ridiculous. I have been having gel manicures for over 2 years in different places and you always wash your hands. Needless to say .. The first time I went here they did an excellent job so I decided to try them for a second time. BIG MISTAKE! The woman who did my nails rushed the entire time, it was actually painful as she scraped the shellac off my fingers. She didn't even get rid of all of it before she started applying the new coats. She rushed the entire time painting and missed the edges of my fingers and they have already started chipping after three days. They look horrible. I've been here 3 times, once for a mani and pedi and twice for a mani, and the pedicure was fine but when it was time to do my manicure i felt that by switching between different employers (to do one task) was causing countless problems for as their client. my nails have been filed down with the electric filler so much that it left a noticeable mark on my actual nail (this was during a time when i went back to them for a polish change, this was also my 2nd time coming for a manicure). as a result of this, my nail was lopsided and was truly noticeable for an eye level viewing. but the first time i went my skin bled because as they tried to fill down my acrylic nail, which was glued down on my skin (this was one out 3 nails that had this problem) they haphazardly caused me to bleed. but this could have been most likely avoided if they didn't keep switching between 2-3 people for one client. i've been to nail shops that do switch between employees per client, but damn it felt like a weird game of musical chairs and it didn't feel intimate pr welcoming. i truly felt as if they were running a business and were just trying to get people in and out. read more

I loved my pedicure! I'm new to Memphis and I believe I've found my go to spot to treat my feet. Anna was amazing. She took her time and massaged my feet for about 15min. They are very clean. If you are looking for a posh nail spa this is not the place for you. Although not the most glamorous this place is the best spot in town for a pedicure!!! They always give the longest most through pedis!!! I have been to many other more glamorous shops and always end up back at Megan's. The shop is a little shabby (although I think they are moving soon) and they are not the most customer attentive (in the sense that I have often been there and they are taking personal phone calls while giving a pedi/mani) but the mani/pedi is still superior to others. They are reasonably priced and definitely worth giving a try. read more
