I kind of hate this Walgreens, but since I live right down the street, there are times when it's just plain the most convenient location for what I need. The store is jam-packed, but mysteriously doesn't carry certain items that it seems like they would. Customer serivce is non-existent, and I think one of these days I'm going to die of old age in the check-out line. I have had some very unpleasant experiences with the pharmacy, to the point that I now use the CVS up the street for my few pharmacy needs. I stop in here for the ATM more than anything else. That being said, this is the place for when I need some random item (eggs for breakfast, tape, etc.) and don't want to actually get in my car and go somewhere. I have fortunately not encountered any panhandlers, though the customers definitely get sketchier-looking after dark. Super disappointed. I switched from Walgreens to Kroger because that were allegedly the least frustrating pharmacy in midtown. What little customer care they showed in the past is gone. My requests of them are simple and I'm kind when I ask but I seem to get half answers and little effort and repeated visits back to the store and repeated calls to my doctor which is tiring and so unnecessary. This location is BY FAR the WORST Walgreens I've ever been to. The pharmacy constantly make errors, often out of prescribed medications and will leave you on hold for 30-40 minutes then the call is disconnected. Wait times and long lines are ridiculous. For a larger location they are often understaffed, and some employees are very rude. It's like they don't look at you but through you. Need better training desperately. This walgreens pharmacy staff is so unprofessional. They have no patience with the ill individuals waiting to get their prescriptions processed. I waited on line for 20 minutes and decided to go to the store. I continued to hold and to my surprise, the phones were ringing, but no one was on them. I simply continued to receive the "more than 3 callers or more ahead of me and sorry to keep you waiting." I hate that this is the Walgreens closest to me. 4 cars in front of me and waited more than an hour to pick up a prescription. It's like this every single time. Plus, when you get to the window and see that there are no customers in line inside, it's maddening. Today, I'm one hour post being diagnosed with MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS with a side of GRAVES and I have to withdrawal from school, like I'm on my way to withdrawal from a program that means the world to me and it's all I can think about, on top of impending disability ands being a single parent I was accused of stealing. I've been going to that Walgreens for two decades but I NEVER will again. Sucks, there's some really great folks that work there. Very personable. But whomever was on the register 3pm on 10/04/2024 is a worthless piece of garbage. She joined a customer in mocking me. Should be VERY careful of publicly humiliating people. This is not only the worst Walgreens in Memphis; it's one of the worst retail places period in Memphis. We picked this Walgreens as our child's pharmacy because it was close, but I could go out to Collierville and back (including a bit of shopping in between) before making it through the pharmacy line here. The speed at which this pharmacy moves is much more relaxed than purposeful, and there is a massive inability of most to treat customers with decent respect and dignity. It all makes for a miserable experience, and we are looking forward to transferring our prescriptions. read more

This is the worst fucking walgreens I've ever been to. I've been trying to pick up photos for a month, but because no one is ever working there, they just decided to throw them away. The worker that finally showed up today was pissed off that I even needed assistance and when she couldn't find the photos she said "yeah I don't see those" and then moved on to the next customer. I go to this Walgreens occasionally for my daughter. I personally changed from their pharmacy to Krogers. Friday I had to go the restroom, once I got in there, two of the three stalls were locked and not available. The smell when I got in was disgusting, there was a pile of dirty paper towel by the wall, about 2 ft high and 3 ft long. This was the nastyist restroom I've ever been in. Shocked. read more

This Walgreens (1800 block of Union) is my "Go To" Pharmacy. Although they are quite busy, they are efficient, caring & get to you as quick as they can. My husband & I had our RSV shots yesterday. We made an appointment for our visit. Once at the pharmacy, we were given forms to complete. We waited maybe 5 minutes, were called back & within 5 minutes we were done. I mentioned that I would like a Tetanus shot & the nurse completed the paperwork for me, shot was given and we were out the door! Thank you Walgreens for your kindness ! read more

I'm a door dasher, so when I arrived to the store to pick up the order for the customer there were no available baskets in the store.

The drive thru pharmacy is an unpleasant process and UNREASONABLY slow. It's ridiculous.

As far as the store is concerned the employees are great. The pharmacy is less than ideal and the employees don't care about the customers.

Been standing in line at the pharmacy for 25 minutes. Exactly one customer has been served. There are two people in front of me, so it'll probably be an hour before I'm out of here. There are 10 people behind me. They need 2-3 more people back there. I wish I didn't need this medication. I will be switching pharmacies as soon as I have this medicine in my hand. Edit: two techs are literally standing there with their hands in their pockets while an older woman yells at the woman at the register because there's an error in the system. Go anywhere else but here. If you have to go here be prepared to make 3 to 4 visits to get one Rx filled. You will have to ask your dr's office to call them more than once to order your medication. All of my Dr's calls get "lost in the system" somehow. They don't answer the phone in the pharmacy. They simply don't answer. So WG is a huge money making machine yet they can't keep and pay staff enough to even run smoothly. I was here at noon today to pick up meds that were called in this morning and I'm here again at 9:50pm trying again. Can I give zero stars? Negative 10 stars? If I could do so I would. Walgreens shuttered the Rite-Aid across the street from this location after the they bought out that chain. As a result pharmacy volume jumped here, and now they're chronically understaffed. The people here do their job well and work hard. It's not their fault but the fault of the managerial geniuses who figured they can boost their profits by making me wait 30 minutes for a simple prescription. I strongly suggest you avoid this store and patronize the CVS just to the east down Union Avenue. read more

After being a regular pharmacy customer at this store for roughly three decades (since it was at the old location a block east on Union), I will never fill another prescription here again. I spent over ONE HOUR in the drive through lane today. When I finally arrived at the window, no one acknowledged my presence for at least 10 minutes. No one ever offered an explanation for why service was so abysmally slow this particular afternoon. I did get a brief verbal apology after I expressed my displeasure. Not nearly good enough. Worst pharmacy in America. None of my prescriptions were ever ready to pick up even though I was notified they were ready to pick up. Two pain afflicted customers ahead of me in line were told by pharmacy staff that their prescriptions were ready. First Man in obvious distress was told that there are basically two categories of of of "ready and " Meaning that the first category means ready but not available for pick up and the second category means ready and available for pick up. The distressed man was somewhat shocked to hear that he would have to wait longer for the medicine to be ready. The second customer a woman radiating a visage of obvious pain was told her prescription was ready but they couldn't find it! I was prescribed a couple medicines that they could not even find even though other pharmacies that were smaller had them in stock. Avoid if you can! read more

This particular Walgreen's is located at Union and S. McLean Blvd. I have nothing negative to say about the merchandise, for it is your typical Walgreen's. What I do have to comment on is the lack of management here doing anything in the way of the panhandler situation. Every time I come here, which I have recently stopped coming here at all, I am harassed to no end by panhandlers right outside their double doors. The last time I went was the icing on the cake. I had a man approach my car before I even had time to shut off the engine. He was begging me to purchase him an iced tea or a pop. Seeing as I was alone, and I know how annoyingly persistent they can be, I knew I would purchase him a drink simply because I did not want to deal with him or his fit of anger when I left...alone. I went into the Walgreen's looking for my quick purchases, picked them up and headed over to get the man a 79cent soda. As I am walking up to the counter he suddenly appears with a banana in his hand. He of course, approaches me with "Hey you got 50 cents, I need this banana" now -we are right in front of 2 registers- both manned with staff who are watching this go down. I am pretty perturbed at this point, so I reply with "no sir, I am already getting you a soda." He persists and persists throughout my entire purchase. I finally look up at the clerk and say "Are you seriously okay with this? You aren't going to help me at all?" He shrugged. That was his response to customer's being harassed by pan handlers on this store's premises. I paid for my things, handed the guy his soda and made a mad dash for my car before he could follow me and ask for anything else. When I returned home, I told my husband who contacted this location. They told him there was "nothing they could do about the panhandler situation." Sure there is! How about not allow them in your store- or hire a security guard to stand outside like other Memphis establishments. I will not be going here, and have driven out of my way to avoid most Walgreen's establishments because of this. Any business that puts the comfort and safety of their loyal customers at risk is just plain horrid in my eyes. read more

I would like to rate this Walgreens location a -1 , I called to inquire about the western union system and the young women was very rude and nasty and I was trying to ask another question, and although I was still talking after the women answered the question I had about the western union system being open, which she said it was not an like I said I was still talking and trying to ask her for assistance but she hung up the phone on me. I have never been to or called that location and for that to be my first encounter with the staff of that Walgreens I was very disappointed. Some of their pharmacy employees are AWFUL. I had an issue getting a prescription and dealt with rude, incompetent people for a couple hours before I finally gave up. My prescription was called in prior to my arrival at 6:15 pm. They forgot that I was waiting. One hour later after being patient I went to the counter....they had still not filled the scripts. I have hardly ever had anything but bad service from this particular Walgreens store - but today really took the cake. Their customer service is unbelievably lacking. I was trying to ask that a prescription be re-submitted to the doctor for a refill - but the young lady who I was talking to (Adrian) kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me make my request. And when I would try to make my request - and indicate that she was interrupting, she said things like "oh my god" - not really even under her breath - but so that I could clearly hear her comments.
