I'm so happy to write a review for this Meijer's for a variety of different reasons. For starters, it's the second one to open up in the city of Detroit, bringing a breath of fresh air to a neighborhood that has long been forgotten. This location is built on the site of the old Redford High School, and they pay tribute to the school inside and outside of the store itself. Detroit hasn't had a decent grocery store in ages. Plenty of small places here and there, but nothing like this. It's no small miracle that this place opened. Overall, the store is superb. Partly because it's new, but also because it's a Meijer, so I know they will keep up on the store looking good. Everything here is new-from the floors, the walls, the parking lot and much much more. There's plenty of lighting here and a full time Detroit Police officer on duty here. The car is always parked out front, with a uniformed police officer to prevent crime inside and out. This was a local concern for other shoppers safety, as crime can be a problem in this area. Also, plenty of door security here to prevent shoplifting. Kind of like how Best Buy has....a little kiosk at the front with a staff member saying goodbye. They have all the same sales that every other Meijer's does, and I'm happy to shop here. Prices are great, and it's a much needed boost to the area. Hopefully, they will inspire other stores to move back into this area, making it come alive and revitalizing the area as needed.

there is nothing bad to say about Meijer friendly Acres accept I need more money every time I come here LOL. Thank you very much for building one here in Detroit. This store has everything. I love finding deals by picking up the circular when I get my cart. It gives me a moment to stop and look at my list and figure out where I'm going first. When I go down the aisles I know that Meijer will help me with my math, because they prominently features their prices broken down by unit and weight; usually right next to The National brand product of the same type. That is just what every cost-conscious Shopper needs. Meijer has my favorite socks and always fresh bread at 3 AM. Yes I go to the grocery store early in the morning to beat the rush. I like The Fast checkouts and The Friendly clerks who will help you if you have an issue with your register. I have found some of the best deals at 3 a.m. while they are restocking the shelves. Probably because they know putting it out at 3 a.m. will get it out of the store quickly. LOL that's how us bargain shoppers roll, we get it and we go. If you're in this area be sure you stop at this store for Great Deals and friendly service. Thank you very much Meijer friendly Acres you are still my favorite grocery store oops scratch that you're my favorite store.

Worst play to get gas employees are so so ghetto. I would not come here if wasn't for the gas. I would give it a negative if I could.

It used to have a produce section, right in front of the front windows, a space now occupied by stacks and stacks of La Croix cases. I'm no fan of La Croix and I eat an apple and/or a banana most days but I can imagine how the current arrangement is working out better for their bottom line. They used to have kombucha on tap, something that had been sitting unused for awhile and was just recently removed. That was just laughably hipster to me. I'll drink kombucha in the bottle sometimes, which MM still has in their fridge, and I just had to wonder, do you really need kombucha on tap? Obviously, it turns out you don't. This market is on the small side, just packed with stuff, and they stay open late. It's what I imagine a New York City bodega is like. They have more energy drink selections than anyone should need and a very Detroit amount of blunt wraps behind the register. Backwoods and the like take up most of that wall. MM has the same mediocre prepackaged sandwiches, wraps and pasta salads as Marcus Market and I feel like I should know the name of the company that puts them together by now. For convenience sake I often grab em as sustenance on the way to work. They're nothing special but they get me through the day. Midtown Market has nowhere near the floor space, selection or general charm of Marcus, though, and it actually felt disloyal to use the abbreviation MM to refer to Midtown Market earlier in this review. They're friendly enough here, but me and the Marcus crew go way back and again, no cat is hurting this young upstart here. The thing is, Midtown Market is a little less out of my way going into work and that crucial five minutes can make me late, so I often find myself in here. Midtown Market ain't bad for what it is, they have a few staples here but if you're looking for more of a full on grocery store (with freshly made smoothies and tacos during certain hours) try the neighborhood OG market like 3 blocks away.

A place to find whole and ground spices prevalent in Indian cuisine, in addition to ghee, many oil, rice, and flour options, and a large variety of prepackaged and quick-to-prepare Indian stovetop kits (I don't really care for these items, when making your own homemade dinners takes less than an hour in most cases - but if really pinched for time and craving certain flavors, have at it). You can also get convenience store dependables (junk foods, pantry tins/jars, plastic cups/cutlery, etc), and eggs, milk, butter, and a few kinds of produce in the back (i noticed okra). Where Meijers failed me (in my hunt for mustard seed oil and chick pea flour), Little Asia Mart saved the day. Worth taking a peek around.

However, they do have. Very limited stock and the prices keep on increasing as months are passing by. The staff is friendly and helps you navigate through. The place is a bit too small to hold up more than what it already does. Vegetables are normally fresh and I have never had any issues with the things I have bought here. But a gallon of milk $4.95 is a bit too much considering university foods sell it for $3.95 which is about 0.5 mile away. They do have other convenience store items here as well.
