For the past two years, I haven't been able to get on the Meijer website. Google searches for all types of options, (10 or so) still not able to get on. 2 years ago they had no photos of their items on the app, so I was using the online version, & now I can't use the website anymore. If major chains can't fix IT issues, which 80% of the public uses to find sale items, looking for something in particular, etc etc, it's not a good sign. read more

Honestly, if I could give zero stars I would. This Meijer in Evergreen Park, IL is absolutely horrible. It is unclean and the service is bad. The cashiers and shelf stockers are only interested in talking and taking breaks, not working. This Meijer has an abundance of high salted food and no low sodium choices. It also has very few gluten free choices. The cashiers don't want to bag your groceries. I asked for double paper bagged groceries and they have an "attitude". The managers do absolutely nothing about it and this store is simply not a "quality" store with "quality service". This evening, a rude cashier named Tabatha walked away from the register without explanation. Another cashier had to fill in for her. When I discussed it with the manager, Mr. Cusack, he said he would "talk" to her about it. Really? Generally, when people walk off their job, they are usually terminated. It's exactly this kind a management style that promotes bad behavior and rude employees. Also folks, try going there on a Saturday to the Customer Service desk. It's not even open or staffed. The workers walk back and forth and talk and laugh with each other while people, including elderly people are waiting in line for service. Again folks, the service here is poor. This Meijer also has 2 working motored shopping carts for the elderly and disabled. Really? That's not an accommodation, that's pitiful. Also, why does this Meijer only have 3 cashiers open on a Friday evening. What is with that? I can't say it enough folks...poor service and lazy workers at the Meijer in Evergreen Park, IL. Please, take my advice, and do not shop here. It'll take you more time than needed to get in and out and you'll be treated rudely by the workers whose salaries you are helping to support. For stores like this, I like to see them die a slow death with their customers going somewhere else and the workers having to find other employment. Hopefully, at less salary. That's what happened to stores in Evergreen Plaza and that's what should happen to this Meijer store. It's horrible and management here is the absolute worst. read more

I have been going to the store for years the past year and a 1/2 it has changed to the worse shelves are always not stocked always running out of things and the deli is always closed when I get out of work to go get cold cuts. Think of it as a clean, organized, civil version of Walmart. The prices are marginally higher on certain items, but we don't mind paying a little more for the sake of the improved shopping experience. My only complaint concerning this store is that they came into the community ready to fight. This store posts security guards at their only two entrances and they have since they first opened. Therefore, no negative experience precipitated such measures being taken. After having visited multiple Meijer stores in Indiana and Ohio, I have never seen such a thing. There is a large Afro-American customer base at this location and this is the only logical explanation I can conjecture for grocery store security. I take it as a slap in the face, but what can I do? The south side of Chicago has a reputation for violence and despite the fact that this location is not in Chicago but does border one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago, seems to mean nothing. I avoided entering the store for a long time because it's so large and intimidating, but when I went, I was glad I did. It's nice to grab a laundry basked, a bottle of wine, and rhubarb (yay! rhubarb!) all in one store. The produce looked good to me (maybe they were having an off day when Margaret B. was there), though I admit my sampling is small having only purchased rhubarb. (Yay! Rhubarb!) I went later in the evening, and several employees greeted me and asked if I needed help while I wandered rather aimlessly through the behemoth store. Even checkout was a nice experience (I think my cashier's name was Dominique). I found the store to be very clean and friendly, and will certainly return! read more

I'm excited about this Meijer! The selection of food is better than what you'll find at Walmart. They have more organic produce and specialty foods. You can get things like gluten free bakery items! More healthier food options overall. One thing I appreciated was the abundance of signage throughout the store. Things seem really easy to find. As of now, it is less chaotic than Walmart. (This might change after the new-ness wears off.) No long check-out lines or obnoxious kids.. yet. Yes, the prices are higher than Walmart. Last Tuesday I purchased meat from the deli that was spoiled. They replaced it with apologies. Today, the Monday before Thanksgiving they were out of macaroni, all brands. They had no lemon flavor, my coupon couldn't be used. Only 2 lines were opened while 6 self check lanes were open. At least 20 ppl in the 2 lines. I asked for manager because scanner in my line was malfunctioning. 17 mins later, manager comes out with nothing but excuses. Cashier unable to remove security top from my Grand Marnier bottle. Manager takes it somewhere to remove it. I asked him to wrap in paper, he clearly didn't understand why I wanted my glass bottle to be properly packaged. Only one reason I write this review- Meijer has frozen fish at reasonable prices. Good variety- swordfish, cod and salmon along with the usual perch & tilapia. I haven't found similar quality at of the other major grocery stores. The one tip I'd give thou is to avoid the prepared foods like the plague. read more

I ordered a cake for my mother's 80th birthday. I spoke with a young lady named Gabby who was the most patient and knowledgeable person that I have talked to in a while. She was very patient and able to share with me a number of options for my mom's cake and she was very knowledgeable in helping me make choices for the design, colors, etc. for her cake. She knew exactly who I was when I called the next day to confirm the order and that made me feel extra special. my daughter is a worker at meijers she was on break and she was ready to clock back into work when she slipped and popped her leg out of place, no one in the meijers store picked up what ever was on the floor, so my daugher ended up getting hurt at the meijers she was working at and has been off of work for 3 weeks, she went back to the ciinic and they told her she could go back to work in pain, my daughter has called the headquarters, and her boss and who ever else she is suppose to talk to , no one ever got back to her its been 4 weeks now and they are playing mouse with her, so she called and i told her its time for an atterney , its a shame a nice store like that cant have the balls of responsibility to do what they are suppose to do the proper way, so lets see what happens after the atterneys get ahold of the store.... i wish ya alot of luck daughter read more

It's cool and all, but they need to hire some cashiers. I dread going into this store because I know the wait to check out will be almost as bad as it is at any North American Walmart. What's more, the self checkout machines are kind of buggy, and if they don't have someone stationed there, you could be in for a long wait in front of a frozen computer. They have most of the frozen and cold food you would ever want, and I really like their fruit selection (it is much better than Jewel's; in fact, I won't buy fruit from Jewel any longer). The problem is that when I finally push my heaving cart towards the registers, I usually only see one cashier (in addition to the one or two at the "12 Items Or Less" lines, but, really, with all that food and electronics and toys and thongs, who would buy a dozen items or less?), and that's when my anxiety starts kicking in. Now yes, I know, I should keep mah pills with me so's I can put a little pinch of Xanax between my cheek n' gums, but I'm Caucasian and, given the fact that the White Man can't get a fair shake in this world, what if I am pulled over on the way home and the cops decides to search me and find the meds and I get slapped with an intent to sell rap? Are you gonna bail me out and hire a fancy lawyer? Didn't think so. Aside from that, the story is always immaculate and it is well laid-out. The clientele is not as upscale as I'd like--I'm actually very, very wealthy; I own, among other things, the city of Cincinnati--the other shoppers are pretty cool. At Walmart, I'm always getting my feet run over by able-bodied people in motorized carts and having their children, who wander behind them in an aimless ennui that will disappear once they are gifted with their very own cell phones (transforming them from wandering dullards into preoccupied narcissists) sneeze on my face. And at Jewel, it seems that I am always stuck behind a parade of old, old people who, when you attempt to pass them, slowly turn--not at the hips, whose hinges no longer work, but wth tiny movements of the feet, so that they are now completely blocking your way--to gawk at you before muttering and (eventually) clearing a path. The good thing about Meijer is that the children seem to sneeze less (or at least when they do sneeze, they seem less willing to spew poisonous particles at your face) and the older folk are more spry. Very good fresh fruit and vegetables and a spacious store. With a few more cashiers, I'd think about giving this place five stars. read more

Went to Meijer Evergreen Park tonight. Was absolutely floored by the service, cleanliness, quality and selection--even during a pandemic. The biggest thing, and it was huge, was the courteousness, kindness, good humor and patience of the staff. I mean, they were really amazing. I had to go back because I forgot some stuff, and the second check out experience was a delightful as the first! What the heck! Even the security guard was lovely to me. With frayed nerves and pandemic anxieties afoot, my experience at Meijer may have have been my best one ever. read more

I had posted a lack luster review for the EP Meijer. Service has picked up considerably in the last year. The wide selection of produce items and sundries is a draw for me. Although produce and meat selections are not the best and prices can be a bit questionable, I do return often. The household products are good and rival Target on price and selection. It seems Meijer is doing better at being that one-stop-and-shop store. They don't really specialize in fancy meats or imported goods like other stores in the area, but this store has improved significantly since first opening. My only caveat for the shopper is that cashiers have occasionally failed to put all my bagged items into my cart. It seems the rotunda obscures some bagged products. Make sure you check for all items purchased before leaving. read more

It's like a Walmart but less crowded. There is more room in here, and the parking lot isn't a 3 ring circus. My beef with Walmart is too many people and if you step on someone's shoes or bump someone with the cart, you're in violation. At Walmart I feel like the only white man in a square mile radius. As a white man, the 'diversity' is better in Meijer. People from multiple ethnic backgrounds shop here. You have to watch the prices. The staff are never around for occasional help finding things. I actually wanna give this meijer a 5 stars based on what it is, an all- in- one major corporate store. Obviously you can not expect to walk into the store and find yourself in what looks like Whole Foods, Walgreens, Nordstrom, Staples, and Best Buy in one. For what it's worth Meijer is a great place to do a quick stop when you need to pick up produce, stock up on shelf food, get a quick plain tee or pants, and get some cold medicine at once. I come here pretty often and the store is clean, well stocked, the produce is almost always just ripe, and the staff is pretty friendly for the most part. The only thing I would say is a minus is the self checkout, it can get pretty tedious, but which one doesn't? Overall a good place, like everyone else, I agree that it's way better than Wal-Mart. read more

I was super excited to see this Meijer. It is a huge store and will replace my trips to Wal-Mart. I checked the prices on all the items I usually buy from Wal-Mart and Target and they were comparable. They had a lot of items on sale which I liked. They also have a lot of organic brands, which I like even more. The produce looked great and smelled better. I bought a few items such as bell pepper, basil and grapefruits. They were all fresh and very enjoyable. Everyone I spoke with was nice and offered help. It was a great experience and I have been back several times (I see this may soon become an addiction). Anyway, it's a one stop shopping for me and I'm glad to have them in the neighborhood! read more

Grocery stock is great. Staff can be great but can also be uncomfortable to engage. I have been walked to the exact item; the next day told only I don't know. The biggest disaster is the gas pump. It's spacious - lots of parking spots, good convenience stock, and lots of gas pumps. All day, every day half the pumps are being used as either parking spaces (with open spots surrounding the gas station building) or a social link up. It's an annoyance that management doesn't resolve the issue of nonconsumers vacating the area in order to continue making money. read more

This store is clean, neat, and orderly. Employees are very nice and helpful. Prices are a little higher than Walmart, but the quality of some items are better. Meats can be a little steep on the pocket. Produce is really nice and fresh and reasonably priced. I really love being able to s left from a variety of almost each item. read more

I actually really like shopping at meijer. They have a huge food selection and anything else you might think of like auto, toys, electronics, dishware, clothing, school supplies, outdoor, etc. I scored an extremely great deal on a television around Christmas time so of course I'm pleased with that experience. Positive: They have some organic products and are closer and cheaper than Whole Foods. Negative: Their Customer Service Dept. is horrible. I called to find out the return policy for food items. Trish told me that it is 90 days with a receipt and "you may be offered an exchange or refund". I asked specifically if I had my receipt and returned it within the 90 days unopened if I could get my money back. Trish became very angry and kept repeating that they have the right to not refund the money, I need to go online and look up the policy and that there's no way they could give definitely answers unless "they see the merchandise". In other words Meijer's return policy for food items is subjective. Also prior to me calling every time I purchased a product I asked the Cashier about the return policy and on EACH occasion the they said they didn't know what the return policy was. Because of the rude customer service I will not be returning to this store. Whole Foods might be more expensive but at least they give Excellent customer service. read more
