So, my wife and I realized that we had not gotten bakery-made goodies in a long while, so we decided to try The Velvet Bakery since we see the place regularly but had not actually gone inside. Having lived in the area for nearly 30 years, the several bakeries we did frequent all left for one reason or another, so I am game to call another bakery my go-to spot. Thus, today, I went to see what they had. The young lady greeted me immediately, and she was nice and pleasant to talk to. I ended up choosing paczkis and marble cake. Their offerings are fairly priced, and I must say were very good!! That said, the only reason I gave them four out of five stars is because there wasn't that much to choose from, as there were a number of selections that they were out of. I realize that they opened at 8am, however I was there after 9am so I was a little surprised that there wasn't much too choose from. No cupcakes, no turnovers, and other bakery items were empty, which seems out-of-place for being open only an hour and change. All in all, what I did order was pretty good, the service was good, and I'll definitely be back...I just hope to be able to try other things! read more

After seeing how poorly these pictures came out, I would have suggested option 2 (the printed pictures) rather than have been ok with having me take this cake. So disappointed. I ordered a cake and a smash cake for my daughter's first birthday a month in advance and provided a few photos and an explanation of what I wanted. I specifically said I wanted a light pink cake and simple flower and strawberry design and provided a few photos which I specified what I liked about each. I indicated I wanted to pick up at 10am and was told that wouldn't be a problem. Since the bakery is about 15 minute drive from my house, I called before I left and was asked if I could come at 11 instead because the baker was behind on a big cupcake order. I showed up at 11:20am and was told that they needed another 30 minutes but not to worry since the baker was fast with design. I had to go home to finish getting ready for the party and sent my husband back an hour later to pick up the cakes. When I saw the cakes, I was so disappointed. The color was a bright pink, the happy birthday on top was not centered and sloppy, and the strawberry and flower designs were sloppy. It was obvious it was rushed. And There was also a huge crack in the middle of the cake. Be aware, the photos on their instagram of the designs they are capable of are misleading. At least the cake tasted good but I will never go back here. Thanks a lot for adding stress and disappointment to an already stressful day. read more

This place is a joke. The staff is unattentive, always out back smoking. Went in for some coffee and sweet rolls for my crew once, they have, NOTHING... Asked them if they had any coffee and Danish/Sweet Rolls/Donuts to take out and they just looked at me like I had a 3rd eye in my forehead. I was just surrounded by overpriced cakes, nothin else. I too was concerned about all the negative reviews. I took a chance because, out of 8 area bakeries, they were the only one that would take an order for a sugar free cake. Aside from that cake, I knew plenty of people at the party were not diabetics, so I ordered a cookie tray and a larger pastry tray. It was ALL delicious! The sugar free cake, I was told, was so good it tasted better than other regular cakes that were not for diabetics. Pretty cool if I do say so myself! First, parking is horrible. Would never want to purchase a large order here because of the parking and how far it is from the store. We walked in, no one was in the store to greet us. Then the girl walked out, wiped her nose, with her bare hand, and then put a glove on to serve us. Thank god for that glove. After getting a few cookies, because of the very poor selection of cookies, she had to go in the back to weigh the bag. Why there isn't a scale in the front is beyond me. But when she went to the register, she was doing something on her phone? Seriously? Wow. I think they specialize in paczkis, but we didn't even bother getting some. I was a little worried to order cupcakes after seeing the negative reviews. I went in twice, once to order and one to pick up the cupcakes. The staff was friendly and attentive each time. I ordered 3 dozen cupcakes (a dozen yellow, a dozen chocolate, and a dozen lemon), and they were all quite tasty. My favorite was definitely the lemon cupcakes, I would highly recommend them. I was very disappointed with this bakery. I went here to get my Polish boyfriend some delicious kolachkis. I have been driving past this bakery for a while and have been wanting to check it out. I love the surrounding bakeries like Wolf's and thought this would be another nice addition to the area, especially because it is a Polish bakery. How wrong I was. When I went to pick up the kolachkis I was tempted by some of their other pastries and bought rum balls and éclairs. I was very excited to try my pastries so before my boyfriend got home from work I tried a rum ball and éclair. The rum ball was very tasty. It wasn't too strong, but you still got a hit of that rum flavor and it was sweet. However, I was disappointed with the éclair. There was barely any filling and the dough tasted hard and stale. I thought since this was a predominately Polish bakery the kolachkis had to be delicious. I waited for my boyfriend to come home before having any so we both dug in together. It was unanimous. The kolachkis were terrible. Not only were they stale, but there was barely any filling inside. You basically couldn't taste anything but the powdered sugar on top that wasn't even sweet. You could barely see the filling in the fruit filled ones. I had high expectations and was very let down. This place really needs to step up if they want to compete with the amazing bakeries around the area. read more

Went in looking for some treats to bring to work. I bought some so called coffee cakes and they were very disappointing. It was basically bread with cheese just laid on top. I was embarrassed as several guests commented that the cake did not take good but was very dry.
