I try to use local businesses whenever I can, and I've used Gil Drugs for a number of years…read more However, a recent experience has led me to change my pharmacy. I picked up some prescriptions, and that was just fine. While I was there, I asked if I could get a flu shot. I was told I could. The pharmacist was an older woman, and it took her about 20 minutes to complete the paperwork. Once that was done, we went into a back room. The pharmacist had the syringe in her hand, had removed the needle cap, and was coming towards me. She had not used the alcohol swab. I told her to stop and asked about the swab. She said that it was behind her on the counter. And I said, Yes, but you are coming at me with the syringe, and you haven't used the swab yet. OK, so she used the swab. When she gave me the injection, I flinched a little. She pulled the needle out of my arm, had not given me the injection, and it hurt like the dickens. She asked if I wanted to try again; I said no. I asked her to void the paperwork and left. My arm hurt for 3 days. Not using the alcohol swab is a big concern, as I have immunity concerns. If I had developed an infection following the injection, the result could have been serious. I met one of the owners once, several years ago, and wanted to discuss this with him. I wanted to suggest that maybe the pharmacist should not be giving vaccines. I left 2 messages (with live people), 1 voicemail, and 1 message via the contact form on their website over a few weeks. I was never contacted. I'm disappointed because I like this business. But clearly, they can't meet my needs looking ahead. One star for my experience and the lack of follow-up.

New people are welcoming, friendly, let you know they will be with you shortly if they are busy and I always get my prescriptions quickly. The pharmacist, Austin, and owner, Gib are great people. Austin has gone out of his way to get my prescriptions in a more than timely manner and been very helpful. Give them another try! You won't be sorry.

I've had an extremely frustrating experience with this Walgreens pharmacy. Over the past six…read moremonths, there has been only one time when my prescription was actually in stock when it was supposed to be. Every other month, I've had to constantly call to check on the status, ask where my medication is, and try to get a straight answer on when it will be available. On multiple occasions, I've been told it wasn't ready, only to call again later and suddenly be told that it is ready. I shouldn't have to chase down my prescription or repeatedly call just to get basic information. On top of that, the staff is often rude and dismissive, which makes an already stressful situation even worse. I also find it concerning that when my doctor recently attempted to prescribe multiple months at once, I was told by a Walgreens associate that they "can't do that" due to some kind of agreement with Zepbound and that they can only dispense one month at a time. That was never explained clearly and felt more like an excuse than a legitimate patient-focused policy. Overall, Walgreens does not make it easy to get prescriptions, communicate clearly, or feel supported as a customer. This has been the worst pharmacy experience I've had, and I will be looking elsewhere due to the lack of reliability and customer service.

Do NOT waste your time or money at the CVS on Calumet Avenue…read more I went in to return a defective charger that wouldn't hold a charge. I asked the manager, Justin, to look up the receipt using my ExtraCare account--which is standard store policy. Instead of looking it up, Justin threw a complete power trip. He made up excuses about his schedule, lied about reviewing hours of store security footage in under five minutes, and blatantly accused me of stealing the item off the shelf. While standing right in the store, I called CVS Corporate Customer Care. The corporate agent found my receipt on my ExtraCare account in seconds and verified the purchase. Even with Corporate confirming I bought it there, Justin STILL refused to process the return. To make matters worse, cashier Sandy chimed in and called me "crazy" in front of other shoppers. Her comment immediately emboldened another customer to start screaming at me and hurling personal insults about my body over and over again while staff stood by and let it happen, but accused me of upsetting their customers?!?! I hadn't said a word to her (and trust me. This was an insane woman who told me she was eight years old, had dyed red hair where you could see her scalp, a red shirt, red short, red socks, red shoes, and the top off her outfit, red gloves. those cheap ones from the dollar store. Justin ended up calling the police, but when the officer arrived and heard what actually happened, he took my statement, documented everything, and told me flat out that I shouldn't have to take that kind of treatment from anyone.) Crazy was her middle name - but she quickly shut her mouth when she came outside, and saw the police officer talking to me about how awful people are. Corporate confirmed my receipt was valid, but the sheer incompetence, false theft accusations from Justin, and Sandy inciting customer harassment make this store an absolute disgrace. Save yourself the headache and go anywhere else.
