I am SO THANKFUL FOR MEIJER. I've been dealing with some health issues and having an app to order for pick up has made my life significantly easier. (They also offer delivery.) I've used this service now at least 6x in the past 8wks. Everyone is so kind, which is a huge relief and difference from many local retailers (where employees treat you like you're a worthless pos for using something like this). The minimum purchase is $35 for pick up and I think $65 for delivery, but don't quote me on the delivery pricing. I've never been provided expired or near expiration items. (Unlike a store down the street that could have a sister named MetalWoman's. lol) Overall, Meijer and its staff have truly saved me. I appreciate this service SO VERY MUCH. read more

I went to the Meijer bakery to order custom cupcakes and a smash cake for my son's first birthday. Rosa helped me and she was incredibly professional and made sure everything was documented well so my order turned out as hoped. The cupcakes were delicious and the cake was so beautiful!! It really added to the decor and was hard to let my son ruin such a beautiful cake. I have always used walmart curbside in the past. I decided to try meijers curbside instead. Because its closer to my home. The young man named Adam who loaded my car was extremely rude. He damaged several items tossing them in my trunk. The way he walked, acted, and spoke. It was very obvious he was under the influance of something. I will not be going back to meijer after this. This place is clean, looks nice, and most of the employees are helpful and friendly. They have a good variety of generally everything you could be looking for. They don't have everything, though. Especially food, if you're looking for more healthy or weird items, I usually can't find them here. They do carry a good amount of organic items which is nice. It's very confusing that the online "in stock" inventory doesn't match what's actually available in the store. I came here twice and both times the item said it was in stock but it wasn't. I do instacart. The order is constantly wrong. Watch them! They will substitute an item that is 2-3 times the cost of what you wanted. They never ask if ok 1st. Instacart will not refund! Rude workers, too. The store is constantly out of items! If it's on sale, they seem to never have it in stock! I have complained several times to the health dept on their filthy milk coolers. They come out, it's cleaned up, then in a few weeks back to gross! The store mgr never cared to fix the issue & I talked to her twice, so there was no other solution but to get city involved. I normally have no problems with this store and come here weekly. I only needed to grab a few things tonight and had just grabbed a basket. I decided at the last minute to grab propel water bottles, two separate 6 packs. Water is usually not light weight, I figured it wasn't heavy enough that I needed to go back and get a cart so I proceeded to checkout with the basket of items. As I'm walking out the old lady at the doors starts yelling at me that I can't bring the basket outside. I've been coming here for years and have brought out the basket with me many times and put it in the small carts section when I'm done loading my car. She continued yelling at me, I told her I would bring it back in and you could clearly see I was struggling trying to hold the basket and attend to my 4 year old son. She continued yelling at me about this basket....I finally set it down and got a cart to load up my things. Every employee here has always been extremely kind to me except this lady. I've never felt so embarrassed to be yelled at in front of people over a damn basket...for someone whose job is supposed to be a "friendly greeter" she sure didn't get the memo about speaking to customers kindly. Used to shop here regularly, but it has gotten impossible. I can maybe live with the reorg that makes many items impossible to find - with some no longer even offered. And they aren't the only store raising prices - sometimes over a dollar, while packaging gets smaller. But I can't accept that so many items ring up at higher prices than marked on the shelf. It now happens on every visit!! Today i had four items in my cart and three rang up from 50 cents to more than a dollar over the displayed price. (Is this why they stopped using individual price stickers?) The only item that rang up correctly was the box of cereal for $5.39 which, at $2 over its previous price, i guess they couldn't even come up with a higher price for. The pharmacy and store manager are morons. Tried to have a prescription refilled even called the automated system last night. Went in store at 3pm today didnt have it ready and never had in the system. So I tell the woman at the counter what I need. She tells me 45 minutes. Send someone for me 3 hours later they tell him wait another hour. So i go back myself scream at manager and pharmacist come to find out that the retards didnt listen to what i asked for and tried to fill a completely different med all together that i just filled a week ago. This is the 4th time in a row I've complained to the store mgr the district mgr and nobody does shit. I give this store a 2-1/2 stars. Hopefully as time goes on it will improve with my rating. Positive: Employees quite a few people in the Rockford Area. Large selection Reasonable gas prices Open 24 hours Store is safe & clean, exits well marked, friendly staff. Negative Big box type store, everything is spread out Grand opening fliers promised sales on items in store, prices were average of $1- 3 dollars higher than other stores. Pharmacy had $100 savings promo if you filled a prescription there, but did not have much of the common medications people use in stock. I actually like the store, used to shop at the St. Charles, Illinois location. The problem is you can't sell your stock at Chicago-Western Suburbs type prices or standardized prices in the Rockford economy. I am worried this store will have a difficult time making it with its non-competitive prices, especially when situated next to Woodman's and Walmart & Schnucks within a mile. I've shopped here a couple of times. It's been fine. This past Thanksgiving they had turkeys for $8.00 I was pretty happy because we are struggling. I did not know the brand but how bad can it be? I went thru all the work of a big dinner and the Turkey was barely edible. The turkeys must have been raised on dry dog food. My husband and I have not shopped at Meijer's that much but they have a certain kind of yogurt I like so we go about once a month and I buy a bunch of my yogurts. When we are there we pick up a few other items. We bought more today than we usually do including a $20 package of hamburger. It looked nice and red and fresh. When we got home my husband decided to split it in two and freeze it for two different recipes. The bottom of the meat was not fresh, it was like gray and did not smell good. He had to throw about a pound of it out. The rest looks good so I hope its edible. I'm almost afraid to use it. We will shop there again, but will avoid the hamburger. We live about 40 minutes away so we were not about to run it back for a refund. read more

I went to Meijer for the first time today. At first I was impressed when I walked in the store. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The fruit and veggie section is very large and they all looked fresh. They have a pretty good amount of organic produce compared to most of the other stores in Rockford. Woodman's has a larger selection organic produce. The meat selection is pretty good too. As far as organic meats go though, they are very limited and pricey. I like Woodman's and Schnucks meat section better. As I went through the rest of the store, it definitely seems like a Walmart. They offer only limited brands so you can't find the brands of things that you like like a regular store. They have organic foods that are their own off brand labels but I did not see others. The dairy section seemed limited in the brands they offer as well. Minimal organic products as well as very few non dairy options. I like the ways the store is set up better than a Walmart. They also seem to have more of a selection in their home good section as well. As far as prices go, they have good sale prices just like Walmart but if it's not on sale you have to watch what you are buying (just like Walmart) As I was looking around, it seems pretty similar to Walmart except the produce and meat selection and quality are MUCH better. Overall, I don't think I will shop there very much compared to other stores in Rockford. read more

This is only the second time I shopped at Meijer's and it will be the last. I had 9 items to pay for and waited in line for almost 20 minutes because they did not have the 12 items or less lane open so all of us who had only a few items were stuck behind those who had a basket full. There was a lady that kept walking around with a pad looking at the lines but did nothing to solve the problem. Management should know that the 12 items or less line needs to stay open. Every line had at least 6 customers and a lot of those were like me with only a few items. I did talk to a manager who gave me excuses non of which answered the question. I also found that if you shop their specials, prices are good but regular priced items are a lot higher than some of the other stores. Compare boxes of cereal! read more

I have had this issue since before the scanner was implemented .... which is why so often I use self-check to make sure everything rings up properly right away ..... can't always do that with a checker ..... as a whole I love Meijer's .... they have better quality meats .... and in some cases better selection of some items that I buy frequently..... read more

Very nice and clean store! Great produce and meat selections! I love this store! This is pretty much the only store in Rockford that I'll shop at. It could use a few perks, like Walmart has, in money grams. It would be nice if they had a sandwich shop and coffee shop there too. I use M-Perks to save money and clip coupons and saved money. The grocery store occasionally has good deals, but is extremely unreliable. My family has gotten expired or rotten food from them consistently, meaning they have almost no quality control on what's on the shelves. Their pharmacy has messed up or forgotten to bill our insurance. Each time Meijer is quick to refund, but this requires driving back out there to do so. We thought it was growing pains at first, but they have been open several months now with no improvement. I would recommend that anyone stay away from Meijer. It feels like their business model is not appropriately implemented in this location and that failure is passed along to the customer. read more

This place is nothing short of amazing to me. You basically get Wal Mart prices, and Target quality, with an all American style to it. They have a good selection of everything (minus maybe the clothes section) and that pretzel place in the front (Ben's) is the best! I work right down the road from there and I seriously go there on about 50% of my lunch hours to shop or grab a bite to eat at the pretzel please or even their ready-made-meals section. It's all delicious. I also like that they offer a few high brand shampoos and makeup. That in itself will save me a trip from running to another store for just a couple items! I really like that store but the disappointment is due to lack of refilling the shelves regularly : no refill of shelves for pedimed socks M for women since 3 months (yes THREE MONTHS ...) and Latex gloves are empty since several weeks ... stock management does not seem to be Meijer's forte ... and when I addressed this concern to the "customer service", the girl didn't even know what to do and asked ME for guidance ... "why don't you report this problem to your management ?" ... not a sparkle of understanding in those lovely eyes ... helpless ... and I do regret this situation because this store is excellent in many ways, particularly the fish section. read more

This is for the Machesney Park store but the Store on Perryville is exactly the same. I agree, why do we have two stores so close together ? The store is clean but I much prefer Woodmans, Schucks and Walmart. Walmart has a better selection of non food items. Items that we found at Meijers the day they opened they have never had again. Who puts the freezer section in the front of the store ? Really ? By time I'm done shopping my ice cream is soup ! The day they opened people were all over asking if I had any comments. When I gave them one the manger said "ok, but we like to leave things on a positive note so how about the price on that melon you have in your cart, isn't that a great deal?" I cannot believe the terrible service I had today at Meijer. They are not stocking the store at all. Everything I went for was out so forced to buy the more expensive stuff. Yes I know this isn't the only store to shop at but I try to shop at 1 store instead of running all over during covid. I asked for the pork chops that were .99 a pound and the guy told me it would be 20 minutes so ok I'm waiting patiently as he's standing there just talking to another employee who turns out to be his manager. Found that out when I went to go ask was he ever going to go get them. In the meantime I let the manager know how unhappy I am with the stocking of this store as I've never seen it that way except in the beginning of covid. His response was they are blaming Texas and the storm they had. I finally get to the register and let me tell you DeDe was AWESOME!!!!!! Understood the problem and apologized unlike the manager. A continuing issue at this store is product isn't stocked. Went on the first day of a sale to find more than one item not in stock. Dairy also is constantly not stocked. It's ridiculous. Also you are basically forced to self checkout, as this past Sunday afternoon they had just one manned checkout. It takes an insane amount if time to get through checkout. Staff is not helpful at all. I only went because of a few sale itens, half of which I wanted weren't stocked anywau. That was probably my last trip to this store. **FRAUD ALERT** Meijers at Lane Rd/Rt 273 in Machesney Park is deliberately over-charging their customers. On 5/4/17, when I notified the clerk that the sale price was not ringing up, she told me I had to pay the price on the package, not the sale price. She thought nothing of disregarding the sale price, that was clearly posted and effective 5/4 thru 5/10. Since this seemed like an obviously incompetent clerk (or grossly stupid - I don't know which), I took the problem to the "Customer Service" desk. When I reported this problem again, that clerk responded with, "sorry". That's all. "Sorry". Would she correct the problem? Nope. Would she call someone to fix the problem? Nope. There was certainly no reason correct the problem for the next customer - because clearly they have no intention of honoring their advertised prices. The "customer service" clerk clearly had NO idea what the term "customer service" means. I don't know where Meijers is finding their employees - but after the rude reply from the register clerk, and the subsequent useless reply for the "customer service-less" clerk - I have to surmise that Meijers has to scrape the very bottom of a very nasty barrel to find employees who are willing to get on board with the store's fraudulent practices. Hey Meijers - overcharging your customers is not just rude and bad business, it's illegal - it's FRAUD!! You can be sure I'll be filing an official complaint. read more
