Wednesday March 4 2026, roughly noon, I was there for about 20-25 minutes. The traffic was kind of…read moreheavy and pushed me in this direction so I decided to stop. My only real baseline for comparison in this area is Happy Joes, and I was expecting the buffet price to be about the same price. I was surprised to see the price at around $16 plus expected tip starting at $5? and up. HJ is somewhere around $10 with the option of tipping what you want. I didn't see an option to choose a tip but maybe I missed it. In any case there didn't seem to be a lot of tippable things going on during my visit? Get your own food, sit down, and leave when done, so maybe its the dish clean up that happens later? The tipping is a whole separate debate of its own, so on to the food. I started with the salad bar and got some lettuce without really looking closely. Some olives on top, and then some cole slaw and macaroni salad. I then went to the pizza area and got a slice of what I thought was a margherita pizza, and one that looked like hamburger or sausage? The chicken looked really over cooked and I didn't really want a big piece so i chose a wing. Later on my 'go back' I got a piece of what I thought was sausage pizza but turned out to be chicken bacon ranch, along with another piece of what I think was the hamburger or sausage, since nothing new was brought out in the span of time I was there. I got a mountain dew with ice and found a spot to sit. It seems like the music is more toward country which isn't everyone's cup of tea so maybe diversifying that might appeal to a wider cross section of customers. Bathrooms are very clean. The left sink is motion activated and triggers simply by moving in the room. The paper towel dispenser is hard to trigger and gives you about a 4 inch wide, very thin towel that doesn't get your hands dry, so be prepared to fiddle around with it or have semi-wet hands. I must say the Diet Mtn Dew had a twang I couldn't really put my finger on. I would urge the staff to try their fountain pop, and then try the fountain pop at other restaurants along Roosevelt. I believe there is a noticeable difference, and I realize this is subjective, but there is a lack of freshness or maybe cleanliness of the machine going on? Again, a side by side from other restaurants might be a good way to compare if Pizza Ranch is looking for suggestions. Back to the lettuce, there wasn't a lot in the bowl I got mine from, but what I did get consisted mostly of the harder white parts of the leaves you find down toward the base of the head, along with the more yellow pieces that are likely found near the center of the head. There was one piece I think was the core. Aside from the bitterness of some of this, lettuce is kind of just lettuce one way or the other. I did not see any brown spots which was a plus. The coleslaw and macaroni salad was kind of mid, to me on coleslaw there are some like KFC that have the kind of taste that makes you want more, but both of these left me kind of like 'it's food'. The olives seemed like they were a little rubbery and seem like what you would expect from canned olives. I realize we don't live in the Mediterranean so that is what it is. The overall feeling I had on the salad bar was that it had been sitting and I was getting what was left after a lot of other people went before me. I looked when I left and didn't notice anything new or added since I got there. Pizza: What I am calling the margherita pizza sort of looked like one but had a white sauce that threw me off. The toppings on this came off in one piece, which i think is due to the pizza being cooked hot enough to firm up the toppings a little too much while the sauce below stayed liquid enough that the toppings slid off. My main thing was the pizza had the look of a conventional red sauce pizza but turned out to be something else that I am not in to (white sauce pizzas). The sausage type pizza was a standard type pizza but reminded me of convenience store pizza that has been sitting for some time. I ended up going back and got another piece of that because there just wasn't anything else to choose from except for the piece I thought was another sausage but turned out to be chicken bacon ranch. The chicken bacon ranch was just off to me in a weird way. I can and have been brought up to eat about anything/clean up my plate but my brain just sent the signal "this is not good, just don't eat it" on this one. There seemed to be something about it that just wasn't correct. So I stopped after one bite there. The sausage pizza was the main thing I ate during this visit, and was the pace setter for everything else which I must say is not a compliment. Chicken: This is what turned this trip to sub average to just plain bad for me. The wing was dry but OK so i thought a chicken leg could save the meal. I bit into it and the meat was completely RED all the way through! OMG!

Prices are a little higher than other buffets with more selections but the fried chicken is so…read moredelicious. I think cleaning needs happen more often because families leave a mess and should be cleaned more frequently.
