Thank you, Chris C. for Yelping these guys! When we needed our yards landscaped for staging our house to sell I of course turned to Yelp. Of the 3 bids I got for the job Melecio was the least expensive. Now, I'm usually very skeptical of the least expensive bid 'cause I've "gotten what I paid for" one too many times. I usually go with the middle guy. Boy am I glad I didn't do that this time! On day one a crew of 4 guys came in, totally cleaned out all the crap in our yard (organic and otherwise - including a rat's nest between the garage and fence...EEEW!), ripped up all the topsoil and roto-tilled. On day 2 the same crew of incredibly efficient dudes laid down all new sod in both yards, river rock in designated areas, weed-block fabric and mulch in other designated areas. They even weeded and pruned my existing perennial garden beautifully (which wasn't in the contract) before they neatened it up with fresh mulch. When I told my contractor how much I paid for the job his jaw fell into his lap. He said he will be using them as a subcontractor in the future. When they were done both front and back yard looked so perfect they looked fake! He gave instructions on how to care for the new sod over the next couple of weeks and I made arrangements to have them come for weekly maintenance ($100/month). So every Friday, whether I'm around or not, they come to mow and edge the grass, weed and tidy. I love them. I've NEVER experienced grass so pristine and luxurious...it's like nature's carpeting! I'm SO mad we waited until we decided to sell the house before doing this. I'm almost happy the RE market sucks so bad right now 'cause I'll get to enjoy our gorgeous yards through the entire summer! read more

I have a contract for weekly maintenance from Melesio's and they do a fantastic job for an amazing price on my yard. It's clear that Robert & crew take great pride in their work. They care about the plants and take time to do the job right. Melesio's understands how to maintain landscapes - they're much more than "mow & blow." When they first came out, Robert recommended trimming dying & rubbing tree branches that I hadn't even noticed. That tree looks far better and seems healthier now for it. And as fall rolled into winter, they've been very helpful with suggestions for when to prune perennials and leaving a layer of mulch on the ground to protect roots from freezing in the winter. They're very reliable and come each week as promised. They were even very apologetic about not being able to do their work when it was pouring rain and I had to reassure them that I certainly didn't expect them to fight the elements. When you call, you get Robert who owns the business & speaks excellent English - which, sadly, has been a problem with previous landscapers where we simply aren't able to communicate. I couldn't be happier with Melesio's. I've gone through four other landscaping companies (I guess I have high standards) and only wish I'd found Melesio's earlier. read more

Melesio's did an excellent job with a spring clean up which included replacing dead plants and putting in new shrubbery. We requested that he continue to maintain the yard, but he only came out once, and that was after leaving many VMs. Despite following his recommendation to frequently water the new plants in the beginning, more than half of them died and we needed to pull them out. In summary, started off as a promising business, but in the end disappointed with the dead plants and their dropping the ball regarding communication and meeting promises. read more

I had been using the same landscaping company for the past 9 years. After 9 years, I noticed that their work became shoddier and shoddier. I paid them for weekly maintenance, had them re sod my lawn 3 times, and paid twice a year for clean up, monthly for fertilizing and yearly for aerating. You would think that I would have an amazing yard. What I had in fact was the most disgusting s**tbox ever. Literally if a lawn could look like a litter box, that was mine. It's been a good 2 years since we invited people over for BBQ's, and there was not a chance in hell that I would ever allow my little one to play outside. It's really easy to become complacent when you don't want to do the work yourselves. We just put up with it and paid the bills. Last summer, one of the workers got into a huge cussing match with my neighbor. Apparently instead of picking up after themselves, they were using a leaf blower and blowing it all on the neighbors lawn. Nice. We love pissing off our neighbors. We apologized profusely, but kept them on because we were lazy. The final straw came when they stopped taking care of the actual backyard. I am home everyday. They did a quick 5 minute job in front and would take off. By the time that I got outside to let them know that the back gate was open, they were gone! They also started billing us for days that they never came. Because of this...our lawn completely died. Enough was enough. After letting go of our landscapers..we thought about whether we should bite the bullet and maintain it ourselves. We had several long months to think about it, and the longer time passed, the easier it seemed that we could/ would do it. Winter passed, spring came, the grass grew, who were we kidding? I am deathly afraid of operating a lawnmower, and it's just not something that my husband will find time for or interest in doing. Neither of us could voice that we were giving in. So the lawn sat. Brown, ugly, hard, and nasty. A few weeks ago, Xtie invited us over to play. She was beaming from ear to ear. She told us to kick off our shoes, lay in the grass, feel how absolutely amazing it is. I think that it's seriously been a lifetime since I've felt safe enough to lay on grass. I'm always terrified of hidden nuggets of dog poo, dog pee and other atrocities. Her yard looked so pristine! I can't tell you how depressed I felt going home. Walking out of my garage door and encountering that ugly brown, hard, nasty mess. I felt physically ill just looking at it. And that yard just stunk like a back alley. We needed serious intervention. I broke down and called Melecio's. Robert Melecio is the nicest guy ever. He stopped by last week to give us an estimate of resodding our lawn, etc. His monthly fee included weeding, fertilizing, cutting, etc. He promised that he would be able to resod on Saturday. I can't even begin to rave about what a fantastic job he did on our yard, our lawn etc. He cleaned up that hideous jungle, lay mulch down, weeded, resodded, fenced the new area in, he did many extras for us that we had not anticipated or expected. I love my yard now. We can actually walk on our grass without fear. The little one can now safely play outside again. Janie our dog, is the only one that isn't happy, she can't poop or pee on the grass anymore. Melecio's is worth every penny. They do great work, are fair and thorough. He has gained a loyal customer for life. P.S. I would totally write a one star for the company that I used to use, but they know where I live and I'm afraid that they will sneak in and kill my new lawn! UPDATE: 05/29/08 I think that I am going to faint. Seriously..I'm in love, and I've got it really bad. We weren't expecting them today. THEY PICKED UP MY DOG POO!! Who does that?? I'm sooooo happy with the service I received from Melesio's Landscape. I called for a quote and they came out a couple hours later. We scheduled the work the following morning!!! I thought the price was very reasonable for the work I had done, (cleaned out my jungle of weeds and put in mulch). If I need any landscaping in the future I will 100% use them again!!! read more

This is a theme not only with Melesio's but with landscaping/lawn service companies in general. How do you rate someone who comes out, takes measurements, spends considerable time with you to describe the work you want done, has you pick out the actual materials you want used, and then just drops the ball entirely? They neither called us back or responded with the estimates/costs as promised, nor did they respond to our repeated follow up calls. I'm very busy and not really okay with having to do the follow-up to get a project done/service established when there are so many other businesses out there who will be responsive and have a customer service aptitude. (Incidentally: I've left messages for about 10 various companies, and only one returned the call -- but then dropped the ball from there. Guess they have more work than they can handle.) read more

These guys did a great job! When we bought our place, we had rocks instead of a lawn...which doesn't look so pretty with weeds all over it in the summertime. These guys came out, removed all of our rocks in the front and back yard, put in new sod, and planted new bushes all in a day's work. It looks great! On the advice of a neighbor, who uses Melesio's for regular maintenance, I hired them to install new sod and add mulch around my existing plants. Melesio's has done an excellent job on my landscaping and spring cleanup. He works hard and tries to please. He did a lot of research for a problem I had with raspberries getting into my strawberries and installed a stone paver divider that solved the problem. read more

These guys do a great job but more importantly are very dependable and honest. They've been doing our home and a few on our block for years. I called Melesio's to set up an appointment based on the other positive reviews on yelp. All I can say is, the other reviews are dead on. Melesio's is fantastic. Our lawn hadn't been cut in several weeks and it looked pathetic. They cleaned up the whole yard, even around the side of the building, weeded and pulled out a dead bush that was a complete eyesore. We had Melesio's come out to put down new sod (we had weeds and rocks for a backyard). They did this, pulled out three large bushes I didn't want, and a spring cleanup which included weeding, cleaning up debris, etc. It was an excellent deal and he did great work. We had them come every week after for the rest of the summer and fall and our grass was always cut, my gardens weeded, and leaves raked. They were excellent. read more
