We renovated our home in Logan Square and the process absolutely destroyed our yard. We are so glad we found Kris and F Gomez to bring it back to life. First of all, we needed some serious grading. Not only was our ground not level, but we needed to build up the ground near the house by about six inches. We also needed to connect the sidewalk to the back deck in this same area and do it in a way that would drain water away from the house. F Gomez nailed it. They put in a drain system underground starting near our downspout that carries rain water to a planted hydrangea. Then they did the most precise paver work I've ever seen and laid sod in both the front and back yard. They also ripped out the concrete near our front steps and laid down new beautiful blue stone pavers (once again fixing a previous grading issue that caused water to puddle at our steps). Look at the before and after pics - they speak for themselves. Then consider that they did it all in less than three full days. Plus, Kris was easy to work with and the crew was punctual and friendly. To top it all off, I thought they were fairly priced. Don't hesitate. Just call Kris. She'll make it easy. Gomez reached out to us right away. Kris worked with us to try to match our existing patio bricks with the new bricks needed for the new brick walkway. We were impressed by the fact that F. Gomez was willing to work with our existing bricks as previous brick paver contractors we contacted for estimates advised us that they could not use our bricks. In any case Kris wasn't able to match perfectly the sidewalk brick color with our existing patio brick but we love the look of the new sidewalk, she saved us money by utilizing our existing brick, and she went out of her way to please us. I used Kris and F Gomez Landscaping for removing the tired brick patio from my yard and adding a beautiful new one, along with new sod for front and back as well as landscaping in the front for my Logan Square home. Kris is beyond amazing! She is an expert in the field, listens to your needs and gives suggestions when needed to make everything come together. She responded to me right away and was out the same day to give a quote! I was getting quotes from a few people and the project is now finished and still have not heard back from one of the other companies. I had an idea of what I wanted from a picture and she knew the brand and pricing immediately but also gave me comparison quotes on other pavers to keep everything on budget. I'm giving a two-star review, instead of one, only because they responded to my request for a quote in a timely manner, and were very polite. I have two narrow strips next to my garage, plus one long strip in my gangway, all three strips already cleared, leveled and prepared to receive gravel. But because I don't have a place for the gravel suppliers to 'dump' it off the back of their truck, I was looking for a quote to have someone bring it in their own truck, then into my backyard one wheel barrel at a time. That was the only work needed. Absolutely nothing else. Along with the photos of where I needed to have the gravel unloaded, I also sent screenshots from an online 'how much gravel do I need' calculator, which gave the exact amounts of gravel required in both cu yards and tonnage. I want to note that the gravel supplier would have charged a $99 delivery fee, and the price of the gravel, itself, would have cost me less than $50. The quote I received from Gomez, although certainly expected to be higher, was a whopping $787! When I responded by email to say I'd have to take a pass, I received a reply, undoubtedly meant to be helpful, that said, "Sorry we couldn't be of service. at least now you know how many yards you need to get the job done. now you can just ask for 4.1/2 yards of pea gravel installed. may go quicker when you are asking around." And here we have the reason for my review; they quoted me for 4.5 yards of gravel, instead of the 2.6 I needed, and which was clearly stated in my original request, if the amount for the three separate strips were simply added together properly. This means the quote they calculated for me would have meant paying for almost double the cost of supplies and labor. I wrote them back to tell them exactly this, thinking they may send me a more accurate estimate, but to my surprise, they defended their original quote with an explanation that STILL didn't make any sense: "you are doing it in tons not in yards which is what all the places around here sell by. 240sqft @ 1" deep, 120sqft @ 2" deep , 80sqft @ 3" deep , 60sqft @ 4" deep. This is how we calculate all our bulk materials" The thing is, though, I included BOTH cu yards AND tonnage in my request; clear as day! To give you an idea of how much they were off, the difference between what I actually needed and what they were going to charge me for would have been no less than an extra FOUR THOUSAND POUNDS of stone!!! read more

I had high hopes for Kris and her crew this year. They did a pretty good job for me last year when they put in a patio walkway and planted some shrubs among a few other things. So I had hired F Gomez again to do spring cleaning, apply some compost and replace a couple shrubs that crapped out on me last year. Pretty simple I thought and generally her crew did a decent job, but they missed cleaning an entire side of my house. My house is tiny so not sure how that was missed. My biggest complaint is about communication. It should not take countless emails and texts to confirm a scope of work and timeline. Plus I get that with landscaping (and any outdoor work) you're completely at the whims of mother nature. But I don't think that means that it should take over a month to get a job done. Also, showing up to my property without giving me any notice was very odd. I think they could get higher marks on customer service if they just improved their communication and kept their word about services performed. read more
