I live in Milwaukee now (not sure if they have mellow Mushrooms in Wisconsin or the Midwest in general). The pizza and appetizers are consistently great. They have a fantastic drink menu. Something for everyone. Particularly nice beer options. The restaurant has a fun, casual, and energetic atmosphere. I went to the Mellow Mushroom as an undergrad at Univeristy of Georgia so I was very pleased to see on open up in Albany. The service, like the food, is excellent. Very attentive servers. When we went last night, they had a musician performing on the back patio. I appreciate that they provide entertainment like trivia and music for Albany. The owner, Lisa, is such a kind person. We are locals to this restaurant and frequent it maybe once or twice a month. We have become very appreciative of this restaurant and its family friendly environment and meal options. It also has a nice bar section inside and also screened in area where live music is played frequently. Food is always fresh and great. The fact that the rating is 3.9 on here is ridiculous. This is one of those "chain restaurants" that stands up to local competition at its best. I have been here dozens of times over the years and it always delivers. Same owners and even some of the same friendly staff are always welcoming. With the unfortunate lack of unique pizza options in Albany, Mellow's is the best around. Large seating, outdoor options, everything is fairly quick. Being a "rock music" establishment, I would like to see more live rock music shows there...but that is my only suggestion. That and would love to see goat cheese as an added topping option. This was probably the worst experience we have ever had at a Mellow. Driving home from Alabama to Florida on a Sunday presents a definite eating issue. No restaurants are open on Sunday. What the heck??? We were starved by the time we found a restaurant we knew and though somewhat a chain, not like a greasy chain. The place was very busy... as again I guess every other restaurant in town is closed. The server was nice enough but I explained to her we were starved and asked if we could we get the appetizer ASAP. That was a joke. Our drinks took 20 minutes to arrive, 45 minutes in I was begging her for food and just as I expected by then, our appetizer and pizza came out at the same time. Ridiculous! This place was slammed the Friday before Christmas, but the staff was extremely friendly and kept us updated on our to-go order while we waited. The restaurant is very eclectic, and the decor would be fun to sit and really enjoy. The pizza was some of the best we had enjoyed in a long time. This was the all time worst customer service from a manager. I ordered twice baked wings they came back as they were baked once. The manager came to the table and stated as she approached "yea" I looked as this is not how you approach customers. She began to explain that the wings come to them "Par" and then they baked them which makes them twice baked. ??? I only want them crispy. Instead of going back and forth with her. I requested a box not trusting them at this point. I ordered a Chocolate Martini. It' came back clear. I stated this isn't what I ordered I was then informed we used white chocolate?? Idk... This place has changed when we ate here in 2020. Their water tastes... nasty. Like they need to change the filter or clean the ice machine or something. The food is decent. I really like the dough of their pizza. But their dessert, definitely not worth what I paid for. The brownie was hard and the ice cream melted fast. Our server was awesome though. We had a huge party and he remembered everyone's order without having to write it down. We were seated fast and got our drink orders taken right away. What a great place! This time I was waited on by Garrett. He offered many suggestions from the wide selections of beers Mellow Mushroom has to offer. He was very fast, prompt, and courteous. One couldn't ask for better service. I started my evening with a small Greek Salad. All the veggies and cheese were crisp and fresh, just as expected. The salad was really quite flavorful and is a favorite of mine. I finished the evening off with a very delicious sausage, pepperoni, garlic, and mushroom medley pizza. The mushroom medley has 3 varieties of mushroom included with the one-mushroom order. Very-very delicious. There was also just the right amount of zesty pizza sauce. Not too much to over power and not too little to make it undetectable. I must mention that the owner, Ms. Lewis, is a real stand-up person. She goes above and beyond in trying to achieve customer satisfaction. I only wish that more establishments were run like this one. Thank you for everything, Mellow Mushroom! First day visiting Albany and I am very impressed with this small town with lots cute places like this one. We ordered the veggies pizza and had a couple of their local tasty beers. We are grateful to received a great service during our lunch time. Their local beer was super and their pizza was amazing with the most delicious crust I've ever had. Their pretzels with their beer cheese dip was amazing! I would come here just for those and would be satisfied. I've have been to other mellow mushroom places before but none compared to this visit. Let's be real we come here for the atmosphere more than anything else. Yes the pizza is good. Mellow, across the board, is consistent with it's pies no matter which location you're in. I appreciate the list of toppings and bread options as always. What's really impressive though is the beer list. Aside from the liquor store I can't think of another place with that many different beer choices. It's so nice to know that when I come home I can still have access to some of my favorite crafts. I was in town for business and this happened to be right next door to my hotel. Maybe I caught them on a bad night but the pizza was something like you would throw in the microwave and add toppings to it. The beer on draft was very off, I guess I would compare it to maybe a flat soda. For my one small pizza it took nearly a full hour and the location did not appear to be particularly busy. The flies inside were EVERYWHERE, on the bar, on tables, near the pizza prep area. Should really invest in some air curtains for the outer doorways if they do not have them. The hostess was very inviting, we had a party of eight. The server 'Marcus' (name on receipt) provided a very unprofessional service today. His vibe was rude from the moment we entered the establishment. He was dropping silverware and we thought maybe he was having an off day. As he took our order he seemed annoyed.
