Wow! this shop and barber is amazing! He cuts my husband and boys hair. We went all over town looking for the right cuts! NO ONE even got close. I guess Ari is the only barber capable of listening and clarifying to make sure we both were on the same page! He's wonderful and the shop looks great and is uncluttered and very clean which is far better than another barber shop we visited here in town. A+++++++. By the way being in business myself, there 's no way to please everyone. there's always going to be those nit picky, petty individuals that complain about everything like the 2 reviews that gave meld anything less than 5 stars. I moved here from California and am very particular about my hairstylists. My buddy told me about Mel's so I gave it a try and I could not be more impressed. Ari is a fantastic stylist who is understanding and easy to talk to. He makes sure that you leave with the cut you hope to get. Most barbers prefer to listen to what you want and then do what they "think" is best, but not Mel's. Ari asked me throughout the cut whether I prefer this or that and cut my hair exactly to my preferences. If anyone gets worried like me about finding a barber/hair stylist that can actually deliver the cut I want, then Mel's is the place for you! I have always been a "great clips/super cuts" guy. But I'm a changed man! A barber shop is the new me! Not only is this a family run shop, but I've only ever gotten exceptional service! They have a new barber, Mel's grandson, and he took his time with my cut and ensured I was happy with it. He was friendly and made me feel at ease instantly. Not only did he just give me the best haircut I've ever had, he was quick, friendly, and had no expectation for a tip (though I pushed it on him anyways) like many other places in Corvallis do.
