Most RV campgrounds in the Vernon / Childress area are booked up for months because of all the contractors working on area Data Centers going in. We got recordings from several area RV parks being full for the foreseeable future. Vernon RV campground came through for us though. A really nice guy, Robby answered our call and met us at the office, took us to the site. He was pretty full on occupancies but said he liked to keep a couple sites open for travelers in a bind like we were. Sites were level and just had to put stabilizers down. I think all sites are full hook up. Only had a 50 amp service plug but we have traveled enough to know to have adapters for every situation. Not much shade but that was not an issue. We needed an over night stay. We very much appreciated the accommodations for an overnight hookup and a break. We would stay again. Grounds were quiet and respectful of quiet time. Enjoyed the BS session about construction with the new owner of this campground too. No doubt when he gets through with his remodeling and upgrades in the mist of helping RV'ers this park will continue be a go to for others. Easy access from the main highway too. The Owner will make every effort to make your stay enjoyable, I have no doubt. The price was right too! Thanks Robby! I am leaving a 4 star rating because this park is a work in progress and I know when finished it will be a five because this owner has the right attitude. He is shooting to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible while being a work in progress. Kudos to the right attitude. That is rare in today's world too (my observation). Just a realist. While it is near the road, there are spots that are in the back, and it is very quiet as it is by the water and walking trails. There is a big, fenced in dog park that is very well maintained, the walking trails connect to a public park, there is a small park on site, laundry facilities, attentive office staff, and while it was quite busy it was actually quiet. Everyone respects everyone's space and keeps dogs leashed, trash picked up, and drive at a decent speed. It was a great experience here!

The issue wasn't the cleanliness of the bathrooms, because they were actually fairly clean for all the usage they get.

They even provide bags so pet owners can clean up after them. Nice on site laundry and game room. Inside, outside and covered outside storage also on site when available. The Peak is approximately 15 - 20 minutes away from many area towns and the Wichita mountains wildlife refuge and Medicine Park. The park is not all lite up so it's a stargazer's paradise. Whether you're looking for a place for the night, weekend or in the area for work or a graduation we highly recommend it.

The park owners are on site and willing to help you out immediately should you have any issues. When we pulled in the breaker on the box was a 30 amp breaker which they changed to a 50 amp just for us. They even went into town with us to show us around and made sure we had everything we needed.
