My son died unexpectedly Thursday and I spoke with the "funeral director" that evening and told him that he would be ready to be picked up after 12 pm Friday. The funeral home outsourced that and they Deere not able to pick him up. I asked them to call me Monday and let me know he had been picked up so we can plan the service and internment. Over the weekend I reiterated the hope that we would receive information as to when he might be ready so we could move forward. Monday morning I received an email saying he was scheduled to be picked up and they would notify me when they had him. I contacted them at 4 pm and called them at 4:45 and was told "I had you on my list of things to do before I went home." He then looked for the first time and confirmed that my son had indeed arrived at 2 pm. And now he could not give me a date when he would be ready because they needed to pull together documents for my signature before they can schedule anything. He could not even give me a timeframe Having to deal with such incompetence during our time of grief is sickening. So do yourself a favor and find a more professional funeral home during your time of need

Planning the funeral of our beloved mother, Lorna Yvonne King, from overseas was not easy -- but your team made every single step feel manageable, respectful, and personal. From all the phone calls you took from abroad, to your willingness to listen, guide, and gently support us, you made us feel like more than clients -- you made us feel like family. To Mr. Donzell Hennigan -- your leadership, compassion, and incredible attention to detail turned a difficult day into something beautiful. You brought calm where there was grief, and excellence where there could have been overwhelm. Your heart made all the difference. To Veronica -- thank you for your warmth, your patience, and the many calls and messages you responded to with kindness. You were a key part of making things run smoothly, and your presence truly mattered. And to every member of your team -- from those we met to those behind the scenes -- thank you for your grace, your coordination, your care with every flower, every arrangement, every movement. The service was one of a kind, and it was everything we hoped it would be for our mum. Thank you for honouring her. Thank you for holding us. Thank you for doing your work with such beautiful professionalism. With endless gratitude, Michael, Jennifer, Barbara, Miajazz, Denzel and the King Family

The chapel was clean, had sparkling crystal chandeliers (they were very clean), and the stain glass windows were simple but nice. Black piano in the lobby added a very classy touch, and contributed to the nice atmosphere. Seems like there were a lot of friendly employees available to assist quests. Also, it seems like the venue was able to house an other service simultaneously. I'm very impressed with the entire business. There were monitors on the wall that were reflecting some family memories. However, great bonuses were the acoustic in the room and well working microphones so the quest could actually follow the beautiful seremon and the lovely songs performed by the mourning family members. Parking lot was not paved but at least there was enough parking. There were some parking spaces on the street as well.

We worked up an appetite walking the grounds of the Decatur Cemetery, using one of their printed…read moreguides to find the interesting residents here. We did notice four different errors in the guide, so there's that. The Decatur Cemetery is the oldest known publicly owned burial ground in metro Atlanta, believed to predate the city's 1823 incorporation. Rich and poor, free and slave, and yes, quite a few CSA soldiers laid to rest here. Most of the walkways are easily walkable but some are not. If you're mobility challenged, there is still quite a lot that is accessible. Military veterans, legislators, congressmen, authors and judges. Even one of the delegates to the Secession Convention. This is well worth your time to visit. Please be respectful as this is an active cemetery and there are people here encountering their own personal losses. You can drive your car in and park to the side of the road, considerately. I rode my bike through the paths which was peaceful. It's also a nice place to watch the sun set. There's a few geocaches here if you're into that. Obviously, there's super old historical graves as well. Anyway, if you like Oakland Cemetery, you should check the Decatur Cemetery out.
