Premiuam Match - after adding milk
    Tianna D.

I had a Jade Leaf culinary grade matcha that I bought on Amazon some years back. At that time I was buying it for the price not the quality for my usage: which was to make matcha lattes with multi purpose of using it for baking if I ever got around to that which I didn't. I had just finished that pack and was going to order a new pack, but try the premium instead. Since MEM Tea is nearby where I live I decided to buy from here instead since the prices were similar to that on Amazon and I'd get it sooner to start using. The last time I went to MEM Tea was before the pandemic. I remember being able to get 1oz sample-size of any tea in the store if you didn't want to commit to a larger amount just yet. I'm not sure if they still do this because I was hoping to do that with the matcha but these are pre-packaged (And to be honest I didn't ask if it's still a thing). I was nervous to commit to the 2oz packet because I only have matcha once a week as a Friday treat and read that it's best to consume within 2 months of opening for optimum freshness. Ultimately to 2oz worked out because now my husband has hopped on to the matcha wagon to help me finish it. IT'S SO GOOD. I didn't really need any help as I knew exactly what I was going in the store for but I did ask questions on the quality of each matcha to get a better understanding of flavors and usage. I was also given the recommendation to preserve its freshness a little longer by storing it in the fridge and allowing it to come to room temperature before adding hot water. I use my electric frother to whisk the matcha and I've never seen matcha froth so much and the color is also brilliant. I have a Starbucks Glass mug that I like to have my matcha to see the magic happen in the cup.

I can't believe I didn't stop by MEM Tea sooner! It was amazing to see all the diverse tea options, from loose tea to tea powder (to make matcha/hojicha lattes!) I also love that there are different size options so you don't feel burdened to finish a big pack! There are also tea samples if you're wanting to try. I think it's a great spot to bring family/friends that are visiting Boston, and I will most definitely back!

Got my very first matcha set here, and I absolutely love it. I stopped going to cafe's because I have a fond love of making my own matcha. Sadly I finished my tin of matcha and I live quite far in the west coast. I hope to come back soon to grab a tin once again. (:

Thank you, Mem Tea for introducing me to the nourishing, elegant, and inclusive world of loose leaf tea. I lived nearby, short-term, during the pandemic, so unfortunately was never able to go into the store or participate in any classes or tea tasting nights, but I've been ordering tea and tea ware from these folks for over a year now and couldn't be more pleased. Service has always been extremely fast and friendly, the tea ware is of excellent quality at a fair price, and, of course, the tea is tremendous. A bit pricey, but fair in value. I also highly recommend their monthly tea box subscription. I look so forward to trying new teas every month, and find so much delight in my mini-tea ceremonies, never knowing what to expect! Thanks Mem Tea!

One of many pu'er cakes they have, with loose pu'er tea to buy by the oz, too.

I had such an amazing visit to MEM tea shop. It was not at all what I pictured given the descriptions here of being a distributor/selling in bulk. I mentioned this to the very nice associate and he noted that the warehouse is in another town (Watertown I think?) on Elm St. there which makes for some confusion. This Davis Sq. location is wonderful - over 100 teas to choose from, all able to smell and see. We sampled one by choice and there were another two on the floor that were tasty as well. They know their tea, and have several pu'er cakes and teas to choose from, lovelt tea pots and other tea accoutrements, and a price and description list makes it easy(ier) to choose. As a bonus, they have tea tasting classes and other special events. I'm so glad I discovered this spot and can't wait to return!

    Review Highlights - MEM Tea

Because MEM sells their tea in bulk (for restaurants) at this location, I go to other shops to buy a small quantity.

I can honestly say it's one of the best little cafes we've ever visited. I had never tried ube before, and for anyone unfamiliar like I was, it's a purple yam. I ordered the Banana brulee Cold Foam, and it was incredibly refreshing and packed with the perfect blend of flavors, topped with fresh bananas. It was absolutely delicious! The bread completely surprised me. It was evenly baked, incredibly moist, and somehow crafted to pure perfection. The ice cream was a treat as well, but honestly, everything we tried was phenomenal. We can't wait until our next trip to Massachusetts just so we can enjoy a few more bites. I also loved the purple theme throughout the cafe, although maybe I'm a little biased since purple happens to be my birthstone! One of my favorite touches was the owners' book, where you can see pictures and learn more about their story. It really adds a personal touch to the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we would definitely recommend this place for a quick snack, dessert, or beverage. There is some temporary street parking available as well. If you're in the area, Kuya Jay's Ube Cafe is absolutely worth a visit!

The wait wasn't too bad and the menu had a good selection of ube flavored drinks and treats. The spot is located in this public space with nice lighting and some seating. The area also does cooking classes and has some areas to study. I actually got two drinks to try both and they were tasty - not amazing, but not bad given the price. Overall, I didn't mind the experience, but I have seen some troubling things online regarding permits that deter me from coming back unfortunately. Drinks tasted fine though!

I've even popped into the photobooth on a quiet day, which was a fun experience. Today I ordered ahead and found a seat near the back. I went up to the pickup counter a few minutes before the estimated pickup time and watched as people got their orders. A few minutes after my pickup time when the rush died down a little (order status was still pending), I still didn't hear my name or see my strawberry lemonade and bagel sandwich on the counter so I checked in with an employee. I gave them my name and the employee gestured to a hot latte. It obviously wasn't my order so I asked again if there was an order for Deborah and again, the employee rather impatiently insisted that the latte was mine. I had to clarify my name again before they finally took a look at a bagel that had been sitting right in front of them. They didn't even apologize and said something about someone else taking my strawberry lemonade before finally making me my drink. My drink was good but my sandwich was lukewarm. Weird interaction that left a bad taste. I've never had a strong reason to come back to Diesel but I now have a reason to stay away.

The people are always smiling and although dogs are not allowed but they do let you in with your buddy for picking up orders. That's a plus for me as I mostly will order coffee for pickup when am there with my doggo. Woohoo...
