I have been in the emergency room and then moved into the hospital rooms with more than a week long stay each visit 4 times in five months. I can share with you that I received exceptional care from all of the doctors, nurses, staff, food and nutrition services, cleaning professionals, advocates, security personnel, and everyone at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Humble, Texas. They saved my life. My medical doctor sent me to the emergency room because i hemorrhaged so much blood the level was down to 6.4. It is supposed to be 9 or higher. While I was in the emergency room, they asked me if they could do my surgery would i agree. I said yes! I had been turned down 3 times for surgery by a different hospital due to having diabetes which made my surgery complicated. Dr. Brown performed my surgery. I have Stage 3b2 endometrial cancer. I have a 70 percent chance of living 5 years or longer. Memorial Hermann and Dr. Brown saved my life. One more stage and that figure drops dramatically. Also, the food at Memorial Hermann is amazing! Everything is cooked fresh! No prepackaged or frozen! The Food and Nutrition workers are all amazing too! Destiny in Food & Nutrition department always smiles and remembers your favorite foods! The day the surgeon told me the cancer had made it to the lymph nodes, Destiny came in and caught me crying. She pulled a chair up next to the bed and prayed with me. I could feel the Prescence of The Holy Spirit. It really helped me a lot. One more thing, Dr. Brown is an exceptional surgeon. The nurses told me people come from all around the world for her to do their surgery. I have been very blessed to have all of the care from all of these wonderful care team! I highly recommend every one of them! They will do their best to save your life. read more

I don't recommend coming to this hospital. My baby passed away because of the doctor who saw me. She broke my water, and she wasn't supposed to break my water. The doctor told my baby dint have a heartbeat anymore but he was born with a heart born and still alive she was confused saying she dint know he had a heart beat they let him die on the paper work they put he died at the same time he was born but he end up dying 3 hours later they cover it up by saying something that it's not adding up I just think any mother shouldn't go through something like this because you trust this hospital and for them to just kill a life read more

Amazing!! I had emergency surgery everything went smoothly. All the staff from the doctors to the nursing staff were remarkable.

I don't often leave reviews, especially negative ones, but I feel it's important to share my experience. I called 911 because I was in excruciating pain, my ear had ruptured, and there was fluid, mixed with blood, coming out. I also had a severe headache, dizziness, and body aches so intense I couldn't move. When the paramedics arrived, despite me telling them I couldn't walk, they made me stand and walk to the ambulance. At the hospital, I expected to be rushed in immediately given the severity, but instead, I was left in the lobby. While I was in excruciating pain, asking for help, I could see a room right in front of me full of employees just cracking jokes and laughing. I know it's not my business, but in a hospital setting, it just felt so unprofessional to be laughing and joking while people are in extreme pain. After about 35 minutes, someone finally called my name, but there was no wheelchair, and I had to struggle into one. Once I was in a room, I was left alone, still screaming for help, until finally, after multiple requests, a nurse gave me some medication. I do want to recognize that there was one nurse, Ashley, who was extremely kind and did her best to help; in fact, she even arranged a lift back to my hotel, which was very generous of her. However, the rest of the team did not provide the care I needed. No doctor ever came to see me, and I left still in pain. I just want others to know: if you're in serious distress, this hospital might not provide the care you expect or deserve. People deserve better. read more

Look, the emergency room Is INDEED a tad bit ghetto but I think it's just because of the location because the employees ( nurses/techs etc ) are pretty talented. I was admitted for a long time and I can HONESTLY say I was WELL taken care of. the gift shop is always closed and the food from room service is limited. I have no real complaints. Doctor was professional and thorough. The problem I have with them is that they're dishonest with their billing practices. Specifically, they bill you and your insurance for procedures that never happened and refuse to provide documentation of the billing codes so you can protest with insurance. I will not return...they're thieves. read more

This place sucks the nurses are loud,ghetto and curse so loud. They took forever to clean my husband's bleeding hand because they didn't have the proper equipment in the room he was in so the doctor bounced between rooms looking for instruments. Was in there for my mother n law n was out of breathe n long story short she was put in the hospital n was very alert n trying to get better. She was in n out cuz they said couldn't find the problem, the lung doctor didn't see her at all for 4 days. She followed the rules n wanted to get better so bad but no one would help her find anything out for a good 2 weeks. The next the we know they are telling us she has a lung disease n never smoked n told us she needed to get her affairs in order. We were shocked, they did nothing to help on any options n said she wasn't strong enough to get help. She was 74 n going n driving n talking n swimming n doing anything a normal person would do, that being said they let her die, they didn't take anything seriously, she hadn't eaten for 3 days n never offered, until we said something. They put her in icu because she hadn't eaten no strength. The nurse Bianca was so unfeeling n very rude n anyone that runs into her when they are in there will see what I mean, had no compassion for her or for us. We wished we would have taken her out of there as soon as we learned the outcome n got a second opinion. This hospital was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL !!!!! They have made us wait for hours to get any update or anything! They repetitively called the same names over and over, the new patients admitted were discharged before me, and the staff were extremely unprofessional when trying to voice my concerns on the wait time and the excessive amount of patients being discharged. read more

We have been in and out of this hospital due to my father and as a registered nurse myself I have to say this hospital is pretty good in terms of their costumer service. As soon as we walked in we were greeting and helped by the front desk staff. We are also very pleased with the professionalism and kindness of the observation unit staff. No one ever wants to see their family members in the hospital but the nurses and staff in the observation unit have don't an excellent job taking care of my father and answering his many questions. The doctors in this hospital are also very nice. There was one instance where my father mentioned a night time phlebotomist that was very rude to him and she had upset him. Note to night staff in the future, we understand that you are just trying to do your job, but the people that are there aren't there on vacation and are going through it right now. It's not pleasant to be woken up at 3 am in the morning to get poked for blood, more less get woken up by a grumpy/rude person. read more

They keep calling the same names over and over again and patients in pain or who have been sitting here have not been called! So a patient who has an elevated BP of 200/100 and in extreme pain is not a priority patient????? If I could rate 0 stars, I would. I came to this ER at 11am with severe back pain, I couldn't walk into the building on my own and nobody came out with a wheel chair or any aid. My partner has to help carry me inside. The young lady at the front desk had an attitude was rushing my responses, she couldn't even wait for me to hand her my ID she just snatched my wallet and took it herself. While I'm waiting about 3 hours just to get my blood pressure checked I see multiple patients being disrespected, both physically and verbally by staff. They accuse patients of lying about their pain and leave patients unattended for HOURS. One man threw up on himself and I had to call someone over to help him and clean throw up off the ground. (In the middle of a pandemic) I didn't leave the ER until past 6, I never got to see a doctor. I wasn't even touched and they gave me discharge papers, which I didn't sign. Unfortunately I had to bring an employee here for an injury. The staff was very nice and the wait time surprisingly was not very long, though there was three people waiting when we got there, and about thirty waiting when we left. We spent a total of three hours here between check-in, registration, vital signs, x-rays, seeing the doctor, and final discharge. All in all it was a good experience. They do have televisions, wheelchairs, restrooms, vending machines, and coffee available. read more

This hospital killed my father. Point blank. Period. There is medication available that will CURE covid completely within DAYS and THIS HOSPITAL REFUSES TO GIVE IT TO PATIENTS!!! I am utterly pissed at this point. My mother is still stuck in this hospital we are trying like hell to get her out before they kill her too! If you have covid, please do NOT go to this hospital! I ended up in ICU here after getting an infection that went septic. The hospital itself was really good but compared to my doctors at Methodist downtown, the hospital docs here don't hold a candle to the ones at Methodist. Two of them were quite rude to me when I tried to inform them that I am fluid restricted and can't have fluids for lactic acid being high. They said, "We can always put you on a vent but we can't bring you back from dead...." but when I tell them the same thing at methodist, they contact my lung doctor, like I told the doctors here to do, and find out why I can't have fluids. They were very rude about it, like I was telling them what to do but instead I was just advocating for myself. The food here is decent for hospital food and they have diet dr. pepper on the menu--yay! It's the little things like that sometimes that make a difference when you're in the hospital. I was able to have a visitor with me at all times while in the ICU--which is a nice bonus when you're scared and in the hospital. If for some reason like proximity again that I can't make it to Methodist, Memorial Hermann is my second choice for hospitals. My stepfather uses them exclusively and I've used another location for outpatient testing because they offered a good price when I was cash pay before getting insurance. Overall, I can't complain, but I did find the doctors a little bit stiff and rude compared to Methodist. read more

I am not one to leave negative reviews, but for this hospital, I will. After two days of extreme difficulty breathing and chest pain, I went into this ER to get checked out. I waited for four hours in the waiting room, in pain and having trouble catching my breath. They did a chest X-ray and blood work (where the guy took four different attempts to get an IV placed on me) during this time but I was kept in the waiting room the entire time. I finally got moved to a room, where I waited for another two and a half hours (now 6.5 total) to see a doctor. My tests were all "normal", she said. I have a preexisting condition that causes me to randomly lose consciousness and is undiagnosed. I was concerned these issues were related. The doctor sounded like she was annoyed I was even in the hospital. She sounded irritated at my presence and she was completely dismissive. She said "you probably have inflammation in between your ribs", and when I asked why that would cause me to be unable to breathe and have pain up my neck and through my head, she quite literally shrugged at me. She then said "some people just pass out and it's normal for them." I have been in and out of hospitals more than most people because of my medical issues. I have never waited so long to be treated so dismissively. My tests are often "normal" despite the symptoms I have, but I have never had a doctor basically tell me "there's nothing wrong with you and this is just how you are." read more

Horrible, sent my son home 2 days after surgery in an Uber. He could hardly move.80 year old mother to take care of him.

The nurse that attended my so was rude and cold. My son went in with a complaint of acute hip pain. He had not slept in three days, and had to sit up in a position that only slightly helped the pain. It was impossible to lay flat for an MRI. After giving him two doses of morphine, Dilaudid, and Valium, he was still unable to get out of pain. The doctor the decided to give him Ketamine, which was a very bad experience. The nurse commented that, "all men are babies." She forced him to lay on his back and bare it while giving him the Ketamine. This woman had ZERO compassion we went in around 8 in the morning. Finally at 6 that evening he was able to eat a little. He asked his girlfriend to get a wheelchair and take him for a bit of fresh air. They did not tell me where they were going. I was busy looking on my phone for the symptoms he was having, so I wasn't paying attention when they left. The nurse slung back the curtain and in very demeaning voice said, "where are they"? I told her I didn't know. The next thing I know she walked in and said, "you and you leave" I told her I would not leave my son. In a loud demanding voice she said, " oh you are leaving, one way or another. We just looked at each other in shock. Then she brings in security guards. My son pulled out his I've needle as she watched and we left. After the Ketamine injections the nurse failed to connect the heart monitor for over two hours. This "nurse" does NOT belong in the ER. read more

I was experiencing extreme back pain. I went to er as my doctor had suggested I do. While there I was taken back an they checked my vitals. Then sent to the waiting room. I sat there for more then an hour went to the front an asked if they had a update on time. I was told I could speed it along by taking a urine test. So I did. A hour went by an a nurse came out with a urine cup I told her I'd already given my sample. She said nothing an walked away. Another hour went by an nothing. The waiting room wasn't full maybe 7 people. I went up again an said I'm in a lot of pain are they going to be doing any X-rays the front desk guy said your getting ready to be discharged. I ask so no X-ray or anything? He said nope. I was brought back an told I have a uti to take my antibiotics and pain meds an it would make the back pain go away. So I leave an head to my pharmacy to turn in my prescriptions an ask how should I take my antibiotics and the pharmacist says you don't have any prescriptions for a uti or kidney infection. He advised I call the hospital to have them send it over before they close. So I call the hospital and I'm told by the er nurse that she spoke with the nurse an they never told me I had a uti or kidney infection. Excuse me? I was clearly told I had a uti an told that was why I was being discharged without any X-rays. The nurse tells me nope I'm looking at your urine sample results an there isn't any infection. I ask so why was I told that was my diagnosis an why didn't I get any X-rays I was in pain with numbness in my right foot an tingling an weakness in my left hip an she said it wasn't enough to get a X-ray. So I was given a diagnosis that wasn't true an sent home after hours of wasted time. Took off from work to go the the hospital for absolutely nothing. If you want to be given the correct care Go to HCA in Kingwood I always go there an I don't know why I didn't this time. I'm always in an out with blood work an X-rays every time. Everyone was very friendly but the nurse Kimberly Spruell went above and beyond. she explained everything to me and my husband and made sure to keep checking on me. she was never late with my medications and she was very gentle with taking my blood I didn't even feel her poke me. Fell in hallway while walking to take test. My foot stuck to floor. Taken to emergency room bleeding. Got there at 8:00 Am was told they may have to take me downtown. After test done said they would stitch me. Knocked out a tooth and displaced another one. Two front teeth. Cracked a bone in my mouth. Never saw a doctor was seen by nurse practitioner. Given face towels for bleeding quite a few. Ask Ask tosee someone in administration was sent someone from Patient relations. He told me he could not help me he would open up a case. Asked to see some one else was later told they couldn't help me. Was taken in consultation room and got 14 stitches. Was told I had to hold up my mouth because she had no one to help. This was T 4:30. My name was called at 5:30 no instructions no explanations. Handed discharge papers. I would not recommend anyone to go to this emergency room. My daughter was brought in via ambulance, as she was in extreme pain and unable to move without increasing the pain. She has a genetic condition that causes her joints to be very lax and to randomly dislocate. We feared she had again dislocated some vertebrae and felt an ambulance was safest. The ambulance informed us that the preferred hospital was heavily backlogged in ER and would result in a long wait. They advised us to go to this hospital While they did do blood work, a CT scan and urine test it was 4 hours before the doctor saw her. Then she was give a medication that has warnings to not use for people that have an allergy to aspirin, which she has, and they were clearly informed of. She has a condition which results in frequent severe allergic reactions randomly, which they had also been informed of. She had an immediate reaction which we advised the nursing staff about. Their response was to send in another staff member to flush the IV line. The reaction continued to progress and I walked out to inform them. The nurse came in and was VERY, Very unresponsive. Her reaction continued to intensify, with her heart rate rising over 50 beats per minute versus the pre injection rate and her oxygen saturation dropping continually. I again notified the nursing staff, while holding an EpiPen in my hand, and they told me that they needed to have the doctor approve administration of Benadryl or epinephrine. I then got mad and told them to get the doctor fast then or I would administer the Epinephrine myself. Finally the doctor came in and ordered the Benadryl and other supportive medications. They said they were going to admit her for pain management but then cam back and said they thought she would be better served by seeing her regular care team. Overall we would have been better served going to the preferred hospital and waiting to see a doctor that would treat her symptoms with greater sympathy and knowledge of the 'rare' syndrome she has. read more

I have gone to this ER 2 times and no more. Although it has some of the most amazing doctors, a lot of the other staff have horrible people skills. The phlebotomist was amazing and kind and the lady that did my vitals upon check in was very nice. My doctor was very thorough and they had a lot going on my last visit. My nurse was very inattentive and to add I saw her 5 times in 9& 1/2 hours, I say this because it's important because of why I was there. I was seen for blood issues. Loss of blood to be exact. I had to get a blood transfusion. I was asked personal questions in the hallway in front of other people, I was asked to lift my shift in front of people to put leads on, and when the finally did get blood she became very confused how to do it. It is a protocol of how to a blood transfusion and they are supposed to watch you, take your temp on and off which she did not after the first time. She just left me there. I told the nurse about how I had not eaten since lunch the day prior and I asked for a pack of crackers. She disappeared for another 2 hours. She did not come back but a man did from HR. He went to get me and a lady behind me something. It's pretty sad that I have really great insurance and still get treated badly. They first time I went there I did not and had 3 DVT's in my left leg. They left me in the lobby until my leg swelled 3 times the size of my right leg to the point I could barely stand. I know that not of the patients, elderly or children in my care will go to that ER. After this visit and experience I've told my experience over and over again. Whatever happened with the blood transfusion I've been sick since and have had to go back and forth to doctors. Horrible care and a horrible experience. Just lucky to say I made my it out. Methodist will be my hospital for now on. At least you won't have to worry about them talking about your personal things with others in the hall or making you feel like you are nothing. The nurse at the desk at the ER in front of what looked like ICU talked to people horribly " can I help you with something?!" They refused to take my insurance. Kept insisting that I was Hispanic the whole 1/2 of a day that I was there. My insurance pays 100%. I had to tell 3 separate people that I was not Hispanic. They are still calling me in reference to the visit. In fact today 9/27/21. I have shown the voicemail and statements to the follow up doctors today. It's amazing that the would treat someone like that. My husband wanted to come back and they told him he could come back if u were in a room. They refused to put me in a room because they said I had no insurance and left me in the hallway. I'm beyond disappointed and disgusted with the treatment. When I see the hematologist this week I will tell him how they went about the transfusion and that no one was at my side to observe me in the hallway. read more

Let's break it down-- Emergency Room - Yuck! The restrooms were disgustingly gross. Vending machines basically robbed you. The TV was set on the weather channel?? The system they have is to call you twice - the first time is to get your info, blood pressure, temp, etc while the 2nd time is when you will see the doctor. The tech Cory and nurse Erin were awesome but the dr was a jerk. He basically discounted why we were there saying indirectly that the symptoms my mom was displaying wasn't significant enough for the ER.....what??? And he kept asking us what we thought it was...hello, you are the doctor here. He relunctantly ordered some blood work and an ultrasound. Needless to say, my mom was admitted and stayed for 4 days. And the drs that subsequently treated her, did not communicate well - b/c they kept scheduling procedures without the other knowing which caused some conflicts. Once in the room, the environment totally changed. The nurses and techs were awesome. They were so polite and funny and really cared about taking care of her. It really felt good to know that she was in good hands. So overall, I'd have to give the techs & nurses 4 stars and the doctors a mere 2 1/2 stars. They should learn better bed side manners. read more
