The blue rink of the dual pad facility features a ode to panelling press box which looks like it was built in the early 70s: the rest of the building feels like it han't gotten much care since then. Wires hang instead of being run through the walls; holes, from where errant pucks have landed, have gone unrepaired for years; banners limply hang sometimes from only one string and change rooms and showers are dark and dingy. Of course, the ice is decent and the rooms are clean which is likely why most people don't overly complain. The building houses the Sarnia Sports Hall of Fame and as such you would think it would rank higher on the priority list. It does not.

The Northern Guard are their amazing supporters and provide fun songs, smoke bombs, and shenanigans throughout the games. Excellent variety of food trucks and beverage booths. Very well organized with entrances and I've never really had to wait to get inside. I like to go early to eat and shop.

The big screens, lighting, and overall setup make it easy to see what's going on no matter where you're sitting. It's definitely one of the nicest venues I've been to in Detroit. The food options were also pretty good for an arena. There were plenty of choices around the concourse--from pizza and burgers to other snacks and drinks--so you're not limited to just one stand. Of course, the prices are what you'd expect at a stadium, but the convenience and variety made it worth it. Everything we tried was fresh and hit the spot during the event. The staff and organization were also solid. The employees were friendly and helpful when we had questions, and the arena seemed very well managed. Even with a lot of people there, things moved smoothly and the place stayed clean. Overall it was a fun experience, and I'd definitely come back for another game or concert. About 100 feet from the door to the arena there is a little dead end street called Park Ave where you can park for free if you arrive early before the road blocks go up!! See my photo. The stadium is HUGE. It was very clean throughout even the restrooms. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, concession stands and mini retail outlets . Our section had a problem with a young lady who was acting rudely. The Security Team and the Police handled it quickly. She was escorted out and I appreciated how quick and efficiently the issue was resolved. The seats and concert were great. I enjoyed the sound system and the arena. It is my hometown and I loved all the Lions memorabilia. The cocktails are OVERPRICED and of course parking is expensive. I would definitely attend another concert or go to a football game here.

The most important detail for a skater, the ice sheet, is amazing! Despite being a hockey rink, the ice isn't too brittle, the surface is well maintained and very smooth. The facility itself is a reasonably comfortable temperature, and there is plenty of space to warm up in the lobby. Highly recommend--it's my favorite in the area.
