I was once stopped and given a ticket because the Officer said "this looks like the car of a Drug Dealer". I visited an associate and the previous owner had the windows tinted. I couldn't help that. My License situation didn't get settled for years, afterwards (which was my fault). I didn't remember to pay the ticket. My point is, how does a Grand Prix look like the car of a drug dealer? Man f#^k the MPD! I hope they disband and get a whole new force in there. I had a drive by shooting take place directly in front of my house today. An arrogant cop asked my husband how long we've lived at our address. My husband said a year. The cop responded, "Well good luck. This is a rough area." Dude! I'm sorry our neighborhood isn't up to your standards. Maybe if the cops weren't jerks and actually did community policing instead of just showing up when the bullets fly there wouldn't be as much of a problem. I'm so sorry we were so cooperative and answered all your questions and gave you access to our security camera. My bad for picking the wrong neighborhood on a budget. I guess when you live in certain parts of town you're just trash to the Memphis police. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I'm genuinely curious if this cop's behavior had anything to do with the anti Trump flag in my yard. FYI, Mr. Better Than Us Cop, my husband is a Marine veteran and data analyst. Rudest cops. I simply asked a question and didn't understand the directions the cop gave me. Officer made a huge scene and acted like I was the most frustrating person he dealt with. There was literally no need to act that way. I hate to see how this officer acts under pressure. read more

Bam! I just threw down a four star review for a police department. I got to observe the Memphis police doing there thing on Beale street quite a bit and elsewhere during a recent stay in Memphis. In Southern California, the police tend to have an aggressive and unapproachable demeanor and often conduct themselves like an occupying army. I saw none of that during my stay in Memphis. read more

Today I had a rather unpleasant accident. While it did take a considerable amount of time for someone to respond to my call, the traffic officers were nothing but courteous and respectful. This was only my second accident ever, and the first time I've had an airbag blow up in my face. The lady I hit even left the scene before the police arrived, but they didn't try to put any unnecessary blame onto me. Very informative and pleased to answer any questions I had. Pleased to know that what started as a bad situation didn't end the same way. read more

This city has some of the most ignorant cops I've seen to date. They respond to a call involving a deaf, partially blind, paralyzed, and has a brain tumor. This poor teen was beaten down by TSA and airport security.She set off the metal detectors and got confused when this happens. The mother tries to help and explain to TSA and rent a cops, which they ignore. This teen has so many health issues and she still wants to fight them. I'll tell you that she is the bravest girl I know. She is arrested, booked, and jailed for not understanding what is going on. They end up dropping the charges, that's mighty white of them. They don't even apologize. The family is suing the TSA, airport, and police. The family is not asking for a ton of money either. I personally believe it's cops like those in Memphis that makes others look bad. I only wish the police officers in question were fired, but they probably got a metal for it. They at the least should be beaten, humiliated, and jailed. Hell I'd love to watch, I'd pay to watch it. I'd give the teen money for a bat. Everyone should know not all police officers are this ignorant. I know there are great officers that are out there, and are involved in the community with the exception of the Memphis police department. For all other officers I'd like to shake their hand and thank them for keeping their communities safe. Moral of this is " don't go to Memphis. read more

Memphis cops are reason enough to never return to Memphis. We were walking our dog down Beale St and, like all animals, he had to answer nature's call. The cop, while sitting in his car, made a few condescending remarks about how there are signs that say no animals. I told him we didn't see the sign (mind you, the sign was on the opposite end of the street that we had never been on) and he said "I don't know how you didn't see it, it's right there plain as day". I politely explained we were tourists so we were paying more attention to the tourist attractions than the tiny sign someone taped to a traffic barrier that we never even walked by. I went to get a napkin to pick up my dog's poop with after he (rudely) told me not to worry about it and while I was gone, I guess our dog had another normal bodily function and the cop yelled at my husband to get out of there and said we "have no respect for this historic city". Screw you dude, we're from New Orleans. That city is full of history and no one is a dick to you for not being able to control your dog's internal organs. Oh, and by the way- there are dog friendly bars on this street... we saw dogs in several bars as we walked by.... so WTF. Pretentious jerk. read more
