First thing is the kiosk that asks you a few questions about why you are visiting today, then gives you a printout with a number. There were two of us here to see someone for different reasons so two tickets. We were 9 numbers down and sat in comfortable chairs looking at a big screen that showed which numbers were being served. Each time a new number was up they announced it over the intercom and with the window you are to report to. In order to get to your interviewer you open a door and walk into a hallway and seek out your cubicle which has two chairs and a plexiglass divider between you and the staff person. I like this arrangement because you have total privacy from the room full of people waiting and some semi-privacy from the few people around you. I was called approximately :15 minutes after getting my number and my wife was only a couple minutes after that. We both were getting replacement social security cards plus I had a short interview to do for my son. We both were completed in under :10 minutes after interviewing with very professional and cordial people. Overall I was very happy with.the whole experience from beginning to end. This is absolutely my choice for a social security office even though they try to get me to go way downtown Memphis, nope I am going across state lines to a closer, less crowded and more pleasant outpost. Olive Branch and their crew have it together.

She told everyone outside to get their paperwork, identification, and payment ready to go once the doors opened. They let in only 30 folks at a time and there was probably about 60 people in line. I was one of the 30 folks to get in. The clerk asked each person what they needed and she triage forming different line areas according to what needs to be done. I was out of there in 10 minutes. Once I left, there was no one outside waiting in line. You just have to be patient and be prepared with all your stuff so they can get you out of there quickly.

As my fellow citizens and I commiserated about the long line, we were likewise grateful that there was a light breeze and that the outdoor temperature wasn't terribly hot. After waiting for almost three hours, I finally was able to take care of my business. During my wait, I noticed that intermittently, there were either two or three employees on duty at one time. Of course, things sped up when all of the three employees were simultaneously working. I was treated with respect by the employee who helped me. She was clearly knowledgeable about her job, and was very efficient. They still accept cash here. I highly recommend that you bring along a variety of denominations of paper currency and coins. If you're prepared in advance to pay the exact amount, it'll go much more smoothly. Otherwise, you'll be required to pay a fee in order to use a credit card. Despite the large number of citizens seeking services, the parking lot was ample for all of the customers' vehicles.

I understand that they couldn't send out their carriers with the ice/snow on our streets this past week - and I don't have a problem with that. But the lack of communication, miscommunication, and failure to have the window open during the posted hours is irreprehensible, rude, and irresponsible. When I arrived at 11:50 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2026, the service window was closed, even though the posted Saturday hours was listed as 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. There was 6 people in line in front of the service door and they informed me that they were trying to pick up their mail/packages as well. The lady at the front of the line (and 1 of the other gentlemen in line) informed the rest of us that they had called ahead and were told that as long as they arrived prior to 4:00 PM and had identification that showed their Olive Branch address they could retrieve their mail/packages. The lady at the front of the line would occasionally knock on the door and ring the buzzer on an alternating basis trying to get one of the ladies in the back (that we COULD SEE AND HEAR through the mail slots) to come to the door and allow us to receive our mail/packages or let us know how to go about doing so (or when). After approximately 15 to 30 minutes of knocking on the door, ringing the buzzer, and pleading with the staff through the mail slots, one of the ladies finally come to the door and spoke to the woman at the front of the line basically telling her that she didn't have the authority to hand out mail to us. The lady at the front of the line informed her that she had called ahead and were told that as long as they arrived prior to 4:00 PM and had identification that showed their Olive Branch address they could retrieve their mail/packages. The USPS employee then told her she would have to check with a supervisor on the matter and that she would come back to let us know - in the 45+ minutes that I was in line she never returned to the door to do so, even though after about 10 minutes we resumed knocking on the door, ringing the buzzer, and pleading with the staff through the mail slots. No further communication from anyone in the back and no sign hung on the door or window stating whether or not we had any options. While I was there, we had people leave and others join us in line for the same reason - to pick up our mail/packages, but we never had less than 4 waiting in line. If any of the USPS employees had come out and talked to us or hung up a sign on the door stating they were currently unable to retrieve any mail or packages at that time (and if the person or persons that had been called earlier told customers the same message), I think all of us would have gone on about our day and followed up on this on Monday. Some of us might not have liked it (especially those that had called ahead and been told to come on in), but I think we would have understood and moved on instead of standing around wasting our time. Very unprofessional in my humble opinion.
