I ordered carpet from Menards in Fort Dodge. When it came, it was two pieces sewn together. Our installer said that the seam would likely break when stretched for installation. I took it back to the store, and Menards replaced it. However, they refused to reimburse for the additional expense of having the installer making an extra pick-up and delivery, nor did they offer anything for the extra week plus I spent unable to sleep in my bedroom because I had no carpet. Menards explanation - they only sold the carpet, the warranty was from the manufacturer. This is a prime example of buyer beware - don' count on Menards to stand behind any product they sell. read more

The Menards Rebate is a total scam. Beware! You have to send your receipt in with the rebate form but they don't tell you to write down the 28 digit number at the bottom. I was at my mom''s when I sent it in and she doesn't have a copy machine so I did not make a copy. I never received the rebate and Menards says they can't do anything since they outsource this process. Well guess what guys, you are still responsible since you advertise that you will provide a rebate!! SCAM. I went into Menards to retrieve the 28 digit number I now need to get paid. They said they can't retrieve that number. Back to square one. Does the Rebate International have an 800 number to call? Oh hell no. They don't want anyone contacting them. Does the name Rebate International give you any clues who you are dealing with? Their website is a total laugh, my grandson could develop a more thorough website. So don't fall for the 11% back rebate scam. You might never see your money. I will never buy there again. read more

Fort Dodge operators, in spite of being addressed as "honey" (I am over 70), barely have time to listen to customers when they telephone. I live in Radcliffe, we have no local newspaper and few of us subscribe to the Des Moines Register. The Menards circular arrived at the post office on Thanksgiving--and it was not open. Mail is not put out officially for us before 8:30 a.m. I picked up mine at 10:30. Only then did I read the Black Friday circular and noted that the sale was from 6 to noon. It would have been impossible to travel the distance starting out from my home at 11:15. I telephoned the rude lady, and she said (direct quote), "first come, first served: tough luck." I have a Menards credit card and have bought over $2000 these past months. I will never do it again and am canceling all business with Menards. Other stores have realistic hours, and their employees are not as savagely ruthless as their operator. Avoid Menards! It does not deserve our business (and adding up what I was about to buy, Menard's of Fort Dodge lost my purchases at $2,193). read more

I was so glad to find this store in Fort Dodge. Menards had almost everything we needed for our projects. We were a little too late in the season for their outdoor garden section, so we couldn't buy bulbs to plant for spring blooms. Other than that, we found everything we were looking for. The layout was slightly confusing and we had to ask 3 different times where to find things, but the more we shop there the more we will learn our way around. The employees couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. One employee saw us struggling with our overloaded cart and offered to take it up to the front for us until we were ready to check out. He also gave us an empty cart so we could continue our shopping. I will definitely go back, and back, and back again. read more

Absolutely the word shopping experience I have ever had. The store is poorly laid out. There exterior pick-up procedures are unbelievably bad. The employees are poorly trained and no matter how often I shop there I leave every time frustrated and upset. read more

The bathrooms are disgusting as well as having broken toilet seats. You would think that a home improvement store would be able to fix their own toilets, but I guess not. Random stuff everywhere, too much household and clothing crap that gets in the way of finding actual building supplies. Picking up the large items you have purchased is annoying because they treat you like a thief and have to inspect everything in your vehicle before you leave. God forbid there is actually someone back there to help you load it and check that you have everything you paid for at the time of loading. Very unhelpful. read more
