I purchased a 11' River Table with Black Epoxy Resin in the center. I asked for a photo of the completed project. They sent me one showing the table not fully finished. Not completed. I said it looked great at the point but you couldn't see the swirls in the epoxy until they finished it. When it got to us in Utah, we were not happy and told them so. They told me the swirls were normal. Since then, I have learned otherwise. It's been many months but they weren't fully truthful about the swirls being normal. It took months and many phone call to professionals in my area to learn that the swirls are not normal. They offered no compensation other than to ship the table 1100 miles back to them and "pay" for the shipping and "pay" them to fix it. Shipping would cost me close to $2,000. They also stated I should have specified that I didn't want swirl marks in the black epoxy. Huh? I ordered black epoxy!! Not black epoxy with gray swirls. Look at the photos. Would you like that? No wonder why they didn't send me a photo of the finished table before shipping. People are friendly until you have a problem. Then they blame it on you. read more

The second shipment arrived, and the quality is perfect. The finish is smooth, and epoxy fill of voids is on both sides. The Lumber Shack was even kind enough to include a center Black Walnut support with hardware in the package. Received my order and missed the imperfections with the wood. I sent pictures and was told I needed to take a closer look at what they were selling. I was sent pictures and yes there were issues. Guess I need a microscope when I am on there web site. I will not order from them again read more

I have mixed feelings about these folks for several reasons, I was able to find the pieces I was looking for, but had to look at a lot of ugly wood first - they seem to have very few (if any?) pieces with zero defects. The prices were reasonable, but that's only because they were having a 50% off sale. They actually wrote to me, "After the discount, our prices are very competitive with what else is on the market" - suggesting they aren't otherwise. In fact, they showed a countdown clock indicating the sale was ending later that day, but a few days after that noticed that it was continuing. They said no when I asked if they always have this sale. They almost never have a single piece for sale, so you need to buy sets of 2-4 slabs of wood, and my perception is that the sets will have one good piece of wood with the others distinctly less desirable. However, what really bugs me is that even two full weeks after the purchase, their ads are plastered all over my PC screen wherever I go on the net. I gave them my IP address, but they say they can't stop the Google shopping campaign. On the plus side, they offer free shipping for purchases over $75, the customer service seems to be really good, and their shipments were very well packed. So - if you're looking for walnut slices (and some slabs) or some spalted maple, you might check them out, but note that they usually list their wood as having a trifecta - bow, cup and twist, so you should be skilled in milling lumber. And be prepared for an advertising assault like nothing you've ever seen on the web - no idea when it might end. read more

Bought a black walnut slab for coffee and end tables. Beautiful wood, both sides were prepped and parallel, I sanded and finished them, installed legs and they make a huge statement in the living room. Everyone wants to know more about them. The wood was packaged with a lot of thought and care for delivery, no damage at all from shipping. Price was comparable to others offering similar. I ordered the lumber to make a coffee table top. It came in two slabs, each roughly 50" by 20", to create a top about 40" by 40 ". I was very disappointed by the quality of the lumber. Much of it had been damaged by moisture and by insects. By carefully selecting what to retain I was able to make a top surface that was acceptable; the bottom surface was ugly. I would be unlikely to buy from this vendor again. read more

They're helpful, knowledgeable and offer great deals. Living out of state means I haven't found resources for live edge and have bought more than a dozen pieces and have never been disappointed. I ordered a spalted hackberry live edge slab for a table I was making as a gift. I wanted them to mill the slab and was quoted a 3 week turnaround time. I mentioned my deadline to Marli, and to my surprise, the piece shipped within a week. The wood was as pictured, milled perfectly, and ready for fabrication and finishing.
