The storage unit are a crooked scam! I have rented many storage units across this county and never got robbed like they do. I moved out mid month and was told I had to give them a 28 day notice per contract! They literally stole a month's rent from me! NEVER have i had to notify a storage facility 28 days prior to moving out! I moved out of 2 other units the same day and they said thank you for renting please come back! NO EXTRA ROBBERY! They will never make another cent from me in thier storage or store 100% the worst company! read more

I want to start by saying that we Love Menards products and the rebate is very helpful. I usually shop the Menards in South Haven which has the best customer service I have ever experienced. Now, the customer service at the Holland Menards is below a Zero. Bringing any item back to the store, you will be treated like a criminal. First, the ladies behind the counter are worse than slow, and they have little knowledge of the job they are doing. The line was long. When my time came, I smiled at the lady and asked how her day was? Her response was "Fine, now what can I do for you?" I took a breath and again, I smiled and explained my reason for the return. I was coldly told they needed approval from the department manager. I was asked to move to the side so she could help others. The department manager came and immediately approved the return. I was then asked to wait until all others behind me were waited on. Finally, another lady came to help, looked past me, and asked to help the next person. I stepped up and stated that I am waiting and was here first. She did not even look at me asked the other lady if the department manager approved the return. When I stated he was already here, she then asked the other person if that was true and that a restocking fee will be charged for this. At this time, I asked for the store manager. No communication to me, just radioed someone and stood there. A few minutes later the store manager walks up and said that there will be a 25% restocking fee since he cannot just take back everything. My patience was at an end by this time. I told him that I needed to return this item and was going to put in my $16,000 order for cabinets and counter tops. However, if the $37 (25%) restocking fee is more important than my order, please let me know. He stated that I did not need to be so defensive. Then swiped his card and the refund was finally given after 35 minutes of hassle. Then he looked at me and asked if he can assist with the order. No apologies for the issue. No Thanks for being patient. The lady behind the counter hands me my return receipt and says "Here" Again, no apologies, no thank you, just "Here". By this time, I was done with Holland Menards! I left and drove to South Haven Menards. I was greeted warmly by the lady behind the service counter with a smile (who was helping a customer). I placed my cabinet and countertop order. It is too bad 1 store can have such poor customer service that it has made other people look elsewhere. read more

I truly believe this store is severely underrated on here. If you don't like having the option to get a couple groceries after you just ordered a window package and a bunk of 2x4s, something is wrong. If you don't know where something is, have you tried asking someone? I'm a frequent customer and have never had any issues with the staff. Plus I've never had Lowe's give me anything after I got an entire deck from them but here you can get 11% back in a rebate to spend on groceries, decorations, building materials. Personally, I often give my wife the rebates for her to use it towards decorating the house. Keep up the good work Holland Menards! Good Job! read more

I try to shop local, so I come here. The store is always super clean and well organized. Also, I feel like everything is in stock and there is a lot of choices. When it comes to customer service, it's a hit or miss. When asking where things are at, the employees will help tell you where things are located. Every time I visit, I'm never greeted or am asked if I can be helped. Even at checkout, the cashier never talks to me, says hi, or asks if I found everything. The cashiers should be the friendliest people, but they're always the quietest. read more

This customer service sucks! We rented the truck to move some mattresses. The guy at the counter could not tell us what kind of gas the truck took. He just kept insisting that "you won't need to fill it up". We said "yes we understand, but if we NEED to put more gas in what kind do you use?" He literally did not know. We said forget it and left only to have some lady come out waving her arms at us. We thought it was finally someone who was giving us more information but instead she berated us yelling that we don't need to put gas in it before we return it. Again we explained we just wanted to know in case she asked "how far do you think you're going?!" She then told us that even though their store closes at 8pm we had to have the truck back by 630 (it was 4pm when we rented it). We said that no one told us that when we rented out the truck and we're moving stuff to Grand Rapids and back and she said "if you're not back by 7 I WILL be calling you!" Kicker is, she never told us what gas the truck takes and we rolled out with only 1/4 tank of gas. Rudest and most incompetent service I've ever seen. read more

I went to menards to get propane. I asked at the register to trade my tank. They said they are put of propane. I went out to the propane and there was a full cage of propane with caps still on full. The manager at 6:30 p.m. argued with me. Ended up just telling me they weren't selling that propane. Never going back. Lowes will be my new store. read more

I'm not sure why all the negative reviews. Needed some GU10 lightbulbs and found them conveniently at the front of the store. No map needed at all. Checkout was a breeze. In and out of Menard's in less than 10 minutes. 5 stars highly recommend! read more

The HR at this store is very unethical. I applied for a management position and came in and interviewed twice during a 6 week process but eventually ended up getting the job. On my first day, I showed up to work and they told me I didnt have enough work experience and I wasn't allowed to work there. That should have been something I was told during the interview process. Nobody apologized or anything, very unethical/nonprofessional. read more

They don't allow their customers to exercise common sense. I had to stand in a long line because their policy won't allow them to ring even a single item up in customer service. If I could give this Menards store a 0, I would. We ordered almost $2000 worth of lumber to rebuild our deck this summer. The issues we had were awful. Even though the lumber was supposed to be in stock- noted by the online order, they did not have all of it and much of what they did have was bad. I had to go through every piece of 16 foot planks they had to find even half of what I needed and even those were not good, but had to suffice. It took over a month of going back and forth with their customer service to get most of what we needed and in the end they never had enough. When I went back to customer service to request a refund for the lumber they did not have, the rep would not give me cash back, only an instore credit because I order this all on line. (so yes, I have to go back and shop there again) Then I ended up going to Zeeland Lumber to get the rest. Yes, they were a few dollars more per piece, but the difference in wood is phenomenal as noted in the pictures. There are so many knotholes in the Menards lumber, I will have to putty them already because the knots are falling out. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Menards after this project is over (and I've spent my in-store credit). I can get immediate 10% discount from other stores because I'm a veteran. I don't need Menards' 11% off rebate. The photos include the nice Zeeland lumber vs the crummy Menards lumber and big empty knothole - of which there are many more. read more

On top of the poor help within the store, the 11% rebate program is a scam. First, the customer has to pay for a stamp and envelope to mail in a rebate when they could more easily just print out a coupon for your next visit at checkout. The reason is they want to deter people from submitted rebates. I have submitted 3 rebates and not received anything back. Checking online it looks like none of them are even in the system. My recommendation is to avoid Menards and go to a local hardware store where you get competitive prices, along with good customer service. read more

I have always like shopping here but now the customer service is gone! I was in three times looking for water softener salt and was always sent on wild goose chases possibly because Holland Menards does not educate their employees on locations of product if it does not pertain to their employed department. Tonight I was in there to purchase a new mattress set and found out they had packed it away for the season. Evidently people no longer need to purchase mattresses during the holiday season. To top it off the customer service associate working in that area told us to go shop at another store. I thought maybe the South Haven store may have mattresses out for purchase and when I went to the customer service desk to ask for the number of the department in South Haven Menards she told me in an annoyed tone she would only give me the main phone number and if I wanted to call it to figure it out myself. Pure rudeness on Menards part. Obviously all the customer is good for is to take their money and offer no "customer service". A couple weeks ago I was looking for shelving and the display shelf was empty. An older female employee explained it was all in topstock and she would see if someone could downstock it so I could get what i needed, however she was doubtful there was anyone available to do it and she was unable to do it. I though Lowes was the Queen of Rudeness but it appears Menards is now in the running also. read more

The thing that always impresses me about this store is the fact that whenever I need to ask employees where items are located in this large store (which is practically every time I enter this store) they not only know where the items are located, but they are also always happy to not just point out a direction for you to go but will actually take you right to the item to ensure you find what you are looking for. On the rare occasion when an employee doesn't know where to find an item they are willing to ask other employees to minimize the time you have to spend looking for the item you're searching for. For customer service that is exemplary, a great selection that almost guarantees they have any item you could ever want from this type of store and reasonable prices they get a well deserved 5 star rating from me. read more

Now this review has to do more with corporate policy. On 8/4/2021 I bought an impact socket 3/8" drive from the store, it cost less than $5. I though it was the 1/2" drive. I paid for the item and left the store. On 8/5/2021, I received some parts I needed to fix a large pool pump, I then discovered that I bought the wrong size socket. I never used the socket and it still had the clip inside the drive hole with the store UPC attached to the socket. So I figured I'd just take it back to the store and simply exchange it for the right one. I return to the store and the store rep and the manager tells me that I need the receipt or my drivers license to exchange the item. It was not like I was trying to return it for a refund without a receipt, I want to exchange it for the right size. This was strange considering the part was still brand new and had their UPC. I didn't have the receipt because I thought the bag had been thrown away. So I go and get my license from my office, drive back and they then tell me that they need to scan my license. WTF for?!!! I told them no!!!. Why does any business need to scan your drivers license. I told them that this was ridiculous. Menards is a horrible company. They practice in selling your personal information. There is absolutely no need to scan my personal drivers license just for an exchange of a $5 product. There are data breeches all the time and hackers are constantly stealing customer's information. Menards is very much aware of this. They are in the business of selling your personal information regardless of how it may effect you. And as usual they will respond with some B.S statement about how they don't do that. But when you purposely design a company policy that states a customer cant exchange what is obviously your own product unless they have a receipt (which Menard knows gets lost or thrown away) or a drivers license, please don't play on our intelligence and say that the company is not in the business of selling personal information. read more

I've been shopping at this Menards for a long time. Friendly service and great prices! It's my favorite hardware store in Holland.

I went to Menard's to get a bag of cement. The bags weigh quite a bit. I waited patiently as I didn't see any employees nearby to assist. Finally after waiting there for approximately 15 minutes I see an employee walking pass me. I ask him if he could help or if there was anyone else that could help. He continued walking, not stopping and said I'll be with you in awhile. He never returned. I waited another 10 minutes and finally left without purchasing what I went there for. :( read more

We ordered and paid for white rib steel roof panels on Monday. On Tuesday we hooked up the trailer and went to get them. Menards had SOLD them all. So they did not have what we had specifically ordered and paid for! We needed them so we took gray instead - which is NOT what we wanted. We had to go to the return counter and process a return and then pay for the new ones - wasting a bunch of our time. I think this is very unprofessional and lacks customer service. I would have expected to be offered a discount since my product was sold after I already paid for it. read more

stopped in tonight for a replacement part for our shower head that broke. I was not sure they would have the part or if we had to special order it so I decided to find an employee right away and ask for help. He brings me to the aisle we need and starts looking for the part. He grabs one and tells me this is the one that will replace that part. I look at it and see right away that it is not at all the right part. So I point out that the two ends look very different (I brought the broken piece with me for reference) and I question how the hose that connected to this piece was going to connect to the much smaller piece he was trying to sell me. He apologized and said he wasn't really from the plumbing department but would page someone to help me. I hear him page help to my aisle over the speaker and I begin waiting. I wish I would have timed it so I can know for sure but it was at least 15 minutes after the page before I finally have a menards employee walk right past me. He stops and talks with another shopper, who was just browsing, about some clearance items on the end of the aisle, then takes a phone call. I waited until he finished his call and then asked if he was from plumbing. He sighs, says yes and then rudely asks what I need. I am about to ask if someone can help me find the part I have been waiting for when he tells me that there are three people he needs to help before me and he is more than a little busy. I could tell he was busy as there was another person waiting to ask him a question also. I was not demanding his attention. I was just really wondering what happens when someone is paged to help someone. Is there any way of knowing if someone is actually coming to help?? from some of the other comments I read on here after getting home I have a feeling this is a problem often. After him telling me he was too busy to help me I said never mind and that I will just go to lowes. As I was checking out with another item that I had found before I asked the manager that had to come over to help me with my receipt that did not print if they only had one person working in plumbing tonight. She said no there should be at least 3. I don't know where everyone was but they sure could use some help there!! this is the second time that I have been treated horribly by employees... Went to the store to purchase a shower sliding door. We waited 17 minutes for anyone​ to help. Finally one young man on a forklift stopped. He said he'd find someone and drove off. He never returned nor did anyone else. I had to go to customer service desk and again waited another 20 minutes until an older man showed up. It took him 1/2 hour to find the right one and get someone with another forklift to get it down. We purchased it, took it home only to find it had a broken glass. We returned it and went through the same tiring process. Bad service and product all and all. read more

Bad experience, they sell sub standard lumber products. Purchased two different batches of tongue & groove flooring. Both batches warped within weeks of being installed. It was installed professionally and finished correctly. They ignore calls & letters. Store mangers say it's not their problem. Their supplier say it's not their either. So who's is it? Really like Menards. The product selection is great and for the most part employees are very helpful. What keeps me from shopping there exclusively are the items that you have to get around the back through a security guard, which takes no less than an extra 20 minutes. The products are gardening fertilizer, dirt, etc. Other items include vinyl siding (only needed one piece). It was kind of ridiculous. read more

If I could file a review with zero stars, I would have, but that's not a choice, so a single star is significantly over-rating the service I received today. I went in to purchase pressure treated lumber - not worth the effort with the lumber yard a quarter mile away... Finally upon arriving at 8 foot 2x4s, I found 10 that didn't have serious knots or splits after searching through over a hundred from four different pallets. I must say that the star in this rating is for the one light I saw at the store - the young man working in the lumber yard offered his help, stopped what he was doing and opened the fourth pallet and started helping me - he was five stars. But... Upon getting to the checkout, I told the cashier that the same boards were 10 cents less expensive at Lowes - and asked if they price matched. Well, they do, but only at a real inconvenience to the customer. I was there with my four year old and they told me to go over to millwork to have a chat with the lead so that he could determine if I was lying or not to get a 2.5% price savings - which should have been granted based simply on the poor quality of the lumber. Well, since they didn't want my business, I chose not to give it to them - and recommend others expect higher standards - so shop elsewhere - the front end manager, Julie?, is providing no "value added customer service!" read more

I have always preferred Menard's over the other big box stores but I have been numerous times lately and the customer service is just so bad! It is so frustrating and disappointing. If you have to be at work - why not just help the customers while you are there?! Wouldn't you rather do something other than sit on your phone all day? My husband and I are working on a project we have never done before so we were unsure of all we needed and at least one employee I think actually knew what he was doing but didn't want to go out of his way. (I won't mention his name) Another one told us he didn't know a thing about it and didn't offer to find someone who did - he literally just walked away - and he was not a teenager. Then we asked about some shutters that were not on the shelf. After searching high and low for a clerk - he told us what was out was all they had. (standard answer) So I looked on line while in the store and the $18 shutter in the store was $80+ on line! I went back and asked him and he said - "Yeah - we are"clearancing" them out." Well, I paid $18 for the shutters I bought a month ago here and they are still here on the shelf for the same price. Why would the on line price be 4 x as much if you are not going to carry the line anymore? No answer. It is just unreal. Went out to the lumber yard - after finally finding someone to supposedly help us - I inquired if they had treated handrails. "Nope", he said. I found them on my own. It's mostly the women who know nothing about anything in that place (who are working the service desk) that all treated me like I was wasting their time! Composite decking is quite expensive. We settled on UltraDeck Fusion (Midwest Manufacturing) easily obtainable from Menards. We bought a much larger quantity than we could afford because we didn't want any dye-lot color variation. What a disaster. Our first shipment was evenly split between dark walnut and caramel brown (there is no such color as dark walnut). Two totally different colors looked totally stupid side-by-side. So we showed the Menards personnel and they called the manager on the phone. "It's a normal variation," he says, without even seeing it, which is just their way of saying, "We can sell you crap and then make any excuse to justify it." But we persisted and it was reordered... in virtually the same wrong color. Now we could return it... for a 25% restocking fee - for someone else's mistake. The problem is with both Midwest Manufacturing (zero quality control) and with Menard's, who tries to stand up for them. You don't want this stuff. We're stuck with it. read more
