They listened carefully to what we wanted and delivered beautiful, high-quality cabinets that exceeded our expectations. As a hobbyist woodworker who has built my own cabinets, tables, and other woodworking projects, I'm pretty particular about quality and craftsmanship. The cabinets from Dakota Kitchen are truly top-notch -- excellent materials, precise construction, and beautiful finishes. We had them built in hickory and absolutely love the rich color variations and natural beauty of the wood. Abby's design expertise was invaluable. She offered many creative ideas we hadn't considered that really elevated the final look and functionality of our kitchen. Working with her was a pleasure. Dakota Kitchen was also significantly less expensive and far more responsive than the local cabinet companies we contacted. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. We also want to give a big shout-out to the installer from Carpentry Concepts -- they did an excellent, professional job. If you're looking for a custom kitchen done right, I highly recommend Dakota Kitchen. We love our new kitchen every single day!

I have mixed thoughts on this review because Joyce was great to work with at the beginning. My…read moreissues came up when it was time for them to come out and measure for the countertops. A while before needing the countertops for my new home construction project my wife and I stopped by Sone City to see if they had any granite we liked and to get a ballpark estimate for our project. The original bid looked attractive and we put a $300 deposit down. Before we needed the countertops installed, my wife and I came across some quartz that would be a perfect fit for our kitchen and decided to still use the grainte in the basement bar area. I talked to Joyce and she was understanding and fine with that and would apply the $300 deposit to the granite to be used for the bar. When time came to measure, I called a few days in advance and was told someone would be out to measure right away. A couple days passed after I was told someone would come out and I never heard from Stone City so I called and was told they would come out the next day. This happened one more time before my wife got a call and was told they couldn't find the house since they went to our apartment we were living in and not the house being built. After they finally made it out to measure, over a week late, I got the final bid before they started to cut the slabs and was told the installed price was now going to be over $80/sq foot, much higher than the roughly $60/sq foot we were originally quoted. They added in charges for each hole to be cut and each linear foot of edging (which was never discussed earlier). I was frustrated and told them to just forget the project and I ended up having the same company that installed the quartz in my kitchen also install it for the basement bar since they had provided GREAT service and didn't nickel and dime everything. Stone City kept my deposit money and I just consider it a lesson for myself not to give a deposit until I have all the "extra" costs written down first. I recommend the other countertop company to other people I know and have told others about my experience at Stone City. The low advertised prices don't apply to most people's projects IMHO.

ABSOLUTELY BEWARE! I installed painted cabinets in May 2021. By Feb 2022 they were chipping. Ever…read moresince, have been trying to work with the supplier and Showplace's rep to understand and rectify the issue. And the problems are getting MUCH worse. The paint literally will peel off if you use gentle painter's tape or even run your soft finger over an edge. It looks as if my cabinets are 20 years old and I am an extremely light user of my kitchen. My contractor and Showplace's own painter who assessed the situation agree it is adhesion problem. But Showplace keeps coming up with one excuse after another for not having any responsibility. They are claiming that mine is a "unique" issue, but now I see reviews on many sites stating this very same experience. There clearly is a manufacturing defect on painted cabinets. And Showplace does NOT stand behind its warranty. It's really disappointing because I love my kitchen overall and the cabinets are so functional. Sadly, if you are in the market for painted cabinets ... buyer beware. I am happy to share details and pictures of what I have been experiencing.

The door was not properly stained and the finish had a lot of bubbles in it. I pointed it out to the distributer and he said not to worry, they would fix it after the cabinets were installed. After the cabinets were installed, I found the finish on every cabinet door to be of the same low quality. The sales rep came to my home and took pictures and agreed that he saw the same flaws. He had to contact the company to see what they were going to do to fix the situations and 5 weeks later, even after several phone calls, I have hear nothing. The cabinet construction seems to be of mid to low grade material. My electricians mounted the outlets and switches under the cabinets and found the typical screws they used were too long and went though the bottom board of the cabinet. The cabinet rep happened to be there at that time and told the electrican it was 3/8 inch think. So the electrician cut all his screws down to 3/8 assuming that with the thickness of the metal box, they should not go through the bottom of the cabinet. They stil poked through. He informed me that the bottom of the cabinets were less than the 3/8 inch thickness the specs stated they should be. I am extremely dissatisfied with this cabinet line.
