I decided to try Menards after a not-so-great experience at a different big box store. I wish I could say it was a much better experience, but I can't. The main problem is customer service. You would think that on a Saturday there would be employees in every department ready to help customers, but not so. It seems that Menards would like to employ order takers to write up sales but no one to help with questions. I walked around looking for someone to help me buy a door. I went up front to the check out area twice to request help before someone showed up. There was a computer in the area that appeared to be a self-service-write-your-own-sales-ticket, but it wasn't user friendly to me. Besides that, I didn't want to write up my own ticket lest I make a mistake. That isn't my job! When someone finally came, he had me come to the back of the store to print the sales order. That's when I realized I should have gone there for help right from the start. Little did I know, that's where all the employees were. We bought a lawn mower on 6/07/25 Adrien's Model 911609 self Propelled Paid $499.99 The self propell didn't work so we took it back to Menards, the manager told us, we couldn't return it because we put gas in the mower. How can you use a mower unless you put gas in it? So we are stuck with a $499.99 mower Took it to J & J's and they even wrote us a note saying it would be 2-3 weeks before they can work on it.. So we can't even mow our lawn. We have torn up our credit card and will never buy another thing from Menards. The manager was a man without a brain in his head. Attention if you buy a gas items from Menards it is not guaranteed. We've been to this location quite a few times and never had an issue to complain about. We've found what we've needed, checked our easily, and noticed the store was clean/well stocked. The employees are always nice and helpful as needed too. Plus, getting rebates is a perk that I wish was available every day. read more

My wife and I needed new kitchen cabinets and a countertop as part of an insurance claim. We gave the associate at the Ralston Menards the measurements from Servpro, ordered the cabinets and countertops. No problem, wait for them to arrive, the end. Wrong. About 10 days before the cabinets were set to arrive, I had measured the upper cabinets for some reason against the window-and noticed the measurements that menards had were 2 inches too wide on either side. I let my GC at Servpro know. She went to Menards... and was told they'd fit. When they arrived and Servpro picked them up and brought them to my house, we measured those top cabinets... and they were 2 inches too wide. To make matters worse, the cabinets we ordered were all in stock... except THESE two... which were going to be another 3 weeks to arrive. At least, I thought, the countertop shouldn't be a problem. After all, we gave the associate at the Ralston Menards the measurements from Servpro. Unlike other countertop places, they take the measurements and print off a template to put over the cabinets and make sure everything lines up. Wrong. Again. The countertop overhang was wrong, the seam that should match the 90-degree seam where the cabinets meet was several inches off to the right of the window, and had up to a 9-inch gap to the left of the window. And the breakfast bar overhang? On an upside-down U-shaped configuration (the left side being where the breakfast bar is), the breakfast bar is always on the outside, right? Not on their template-it was facing INSIDE. So that way, when people are sitting at it, they can block the sink, cabinets, and the dishwasher. Makes TOTAL sense. Why did no one bother to at least call our GC and double check on something that should've seemed very wrong? The manager was kind enough to give us $500 off the cost of our cabinets. For our countertops... we'll never know, because we cancelled the order and went to Lowe's. I don't have a problem with Menard's overall-my issue is with the cabinet/countertop department at the Menard's in Ralston. It is very obvious that the people they hire are either that incompetent that they do not know how to follow measurements, or are just that lazy. Forget saving big money with Menard's-save yourself from a bigger headache and go LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

I needed to pick up either wooden dowels or PVC pipes for an upcoming clinic. Menards was conveniently close to Midtown. Parking was available near the entrance and I went up to the customer service counter to inquire about tax-exempt status. The clerk handed me a flyer that required me to go online and fill out a form that wasn't helpful for me. I couldn't wait another day for the supplies and ended up comparing wooden dowel prices, plastic PVC pipes, and broomsticks. The broomsticks were actually cheaper by 1 dollar over the PVC pipes. Eleven were selected and brought to the cashier station. She wasn't friendly and rang up the broomsticks. It wasn't a memorable experience however, I am happy I was able to find wooden sticks to help with a clinic tomorrow morning. read more

The prices here are very affordable and the rebates are very easy to earn and redeem. Even better, they don't expire. So you can get great deals and there aren't any gimmicks trying to cheat you. You can get almost anything here: food, tools, outdoor, candy, clothes, housewares, pets, etc. The customer service does lack though. It is tough to find help, and the employees aren't specialized. So, you walk around for 5-10 minutes to find an employee, only to have them have to find somebody to help them. When you get up front, if it is moderately busy, you WILL be waiting. There are signs that they will call for help if there are lines, but I stood up front on my last visit and counted 13 customers in 3 lines. It was a weeknight. Good prices and you get what you pay for. If you want low prices and know your stuff, feel free to go to Menards. Otherwise, might want to go to Lowe's to actually get some help. read more

In a covid world online orders have a 25% restocking fee. In the same day that I picked up a Mirror from Home Depot and it cracked after being loaded up and on my drive home, they accepted that (online order too) return whereas for menards it is a 25% of fee (based on your total order amount) for a return... yikes read more

They tarnish the great work by other employees who go the distance.. and yes they are older unlike the younger ones in the garden mgt. circle...a 5 star plus goes to the lighting, paint and cabinet area. I do not care if other people are paranoid and want to wear a mask, but don't expect us to be paranoid as well. I recommend Home Depot, they are not alienating their customers with stupid policies like this and offer military discount as well. The rebate program they offer does not pay out. On two different occasions I made purchases one of $600 and another of $400. Neither time did I received my rebate after mailing what I needed to in. At the end of the day customer service is good and pricing is fair. read more

This review is strictly for the pick up department. I ordered a sleep innovations mattress and went to pick it up. The staff member pulled it off the rack and the bottom of the box(which had the wheels for rolling) fell open. We should have stopped him right then and checked out the mattress, but we didn't. It was the last mattress in the store. He taped it up and we helped him put it on a cart and we left. We took it out to our truck and carefully placed it in the bed . When we got home we lifted it out and tried to use the wheels to roll it into the house. The entire base was shot! We carried it into the house and carefully unpacked it. I've taken pictures of the box and mattress. It says to allow 24-48 hours for mattress to fully expand. It's been over 24 hours and still significant dents and marks from wheels and packing. Very disappointed. Plan on contacting Serta too. read more

I typically love Menard's and their customer service. My husband and I own rental properties and frequent Menard's quite often and prefer Menard's over other home improvement establishments. However, I had a very negative experience at the 72 and L Street- A worker named Gabi was very rude. We placed our items on the counter... Gabi approached the cashier and began talking to the cashier... while we were waiting... they did not say -- "hold on" or anything to acknowledge us. I then asked if the cash register was in operations... Gabi rolled her eyes and the cashier tried to start ringing us up... and Gabi said "I guess- just go ahead and ring them out" and THEN rolled her eyes and walked away. When we walked out the door- she rolled her eyes at us. At this point, we asked to speak to a manager-- Gabi then rolled her eyes AGAIN! I am still trying to figure out why we left a bad taste in her mouth... as she was the one that displayed poor customer service by not acknowledging us and I should not have been treated this way because I simply asked if the cash register was working-- (which was my nice way of saying--- HELLO!! WE ARE HERE, TRYING TO CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR RETIREMENT [I.E. pay for our items] LOL). When we asked to speak to another worker-- the employee at the front door wanted to know why we asked to speak to a manager and who we were complaining about and why... that stroke me as being a little unprofessional but... it was insignificant in the scope of things... but still odd! I special ordered a window in May 2020, we picked it up, installed it and realized it didnt have a screen. Went in to Menards with the oreder/receipt to ask about it, they informed me at that point, not when we picked it up, that the screens were on back order. August, September, followed up, they said it should be in by the end of October. November, followed up, nope, still on back order, no idea on when. December, went in to the store, we weren't on the list they had of deliveries they had set for the end of the month. Called Jeldwen the window company that the windows actually came from in January to inquire about this significant back order, they are sending me a window by the end of the month. Menards didn't inform me of the back order initially, it has been 8 months of no answers, follow through or any sort of inquiry or investigation on fulfilling my order. I continue to frequent Menards more often than I should (not because I'm picking up milk, mind you) because they have competitive pricing, great location and pretty decent customer service (not to the front door stalky greeter who immediately inquires to your needs, like the other place - but you can't get milk there). Had an issue with a space heater that was purchased over a year ago but lightly used. First time this year we fired it up and it simply did not work. Went to exchange it but since we didn't have a box or receipt the return desk was reluctant to provide an exchange. Menards has anything that you might want or need. By this I mean you could name anything and they most likely have it and at a great price. Their sales are fantastic and they often have rebates which you send in for store credit that make things an even better deal. I have found their lighting department to be the best amongst all the similar type stores in the city. I have compared them in other departments also including plumbing and fixtures and they always have a better price and selection. I always go here first to save myself hassle and frustration at the other stores. Another thing they are really good for is Christmas decorations. If you have never been here, and you own a home, I don't know where you are shopping for your home improvement needs, but I suggest you go here. Stopped in to price toilets and check on a special order status. Went to the contractors area and was assisted immediately by an employee that was obviously in a bad mood. The employee was helpful but not friendly at all. We found that our special order item had arrived on july 29th but menards failed to notify us. When asked why we weren't notified about our order having arrived the employee stated it was our responsibility to check on the status of our order not menards. How it differs from Home Depot is having employees hanging around doing their own thing, but not salespeople who are experts in their dept. They don't ask if they can help you. Sometimes it takes a lot of searching to find help & then they have to find help. One time 5 workers were standing around with me trying to figure out how 120 & 240 volts work. Jeez. The place where you can find almost anything ... from dog kennels to shampoo to weed killer. Sometimes their service is hit or miss. But last night when I went in for assistance with my mower not starting. The gentleman, unfortunately I didn't catch his name, was super helpful. He suggested multiple options for trying to work out my issue. The lady at the checkout was the problem. I think the unhelpfulness sometimes comes on the weekend when it's packed or teenagers who don't care as much. But this could easily be biased by the slackers i knew who worked at the Bellevue location in the 90s! read more

I am very disappointed in this store. I ordered shutters over two weeks ago that still aren't in. I had to call the vendor MYSELF where I learned that all shutters are on back order. The vendor also stated that Menards is aware of the problem. Did Menards bother passing this info on to the customer?? NO!!
