This place can be very overwhelming and a little confusing if you have never been to one before. To sum it up they have a little bit of everything! You'll see hardware next to cleaning supplies next to candy. You can buy things for your home office or for your outdoor patio. I hear that they have specific parts and hardware that other major home improvements store in the area don't carry and I believe it. The only problem is trying to find it! This store is huge and not well labeled, if you need to find something specific your best bet would be to ask one of the employees. I also different find a huge price difference here, in fact some things were more expensive compared to similar stores. But I'm sure those who shop here frequently know what items are better to get here. Also, in case you are in need of a lot of lumber for your projects this place seems like it maybe a good option. Never knew what a Menards was until moving here!! I really like this store and the variety of things they offer!!!

Menards is a great store. Their more "advanced DIYer/contractor" oriented in that they just sell you stuff, and they sell it cheap. While Home Depot is oriented more toward novice DIYers who need more advice, informational classes, etc... That all comes at a cost - higher prices. For most things, I know what I'm looking for. Occasionally, I'll have a question about something, which the employees can usually answer. However, the Home Depot folks are usually more knowledgeable, as it's almost a requirement that they have construction experience. Typical hardware store with everything you need for home improvement, but what gives this place a 5 star rating is the great service there. There always seem to be people around to help me find what I'm looking for and give me advice on whatever project I am working on. You don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to find someone to answer your questions like other hardware stores. read more

Menards - Building Supplies Near Me - Rochester, Minnesota

We have ordered a vanity top which has been delivered to the store at Rochester South. We ordered it before the crisis took off, and we have paid for the top but we are unable to pick it up because of the situation with coronavirus. Both my wife and I are very much at risk and cannot enter the store. It is not life or death that we have the vanity top but it would be nice to pick it up sense it is paid for but they are unwilling to help us out by loading it and not making us go in the store. Being a female, I'm not knowledgable about certain power tools or nails, screws, etc. I never have a problem finding what I need when I'm here. Staff are friendly and greet you as you come in. If you're looking lost (which I do most of the time) workers will ask if you need help finding something. They will even leave their department and guide you across the store to help you find what you need. Customer service here is excellent. Parking is plentiful. Good supply of plants in the greenhouse early in the season. Prices are good and sales are plentiful. I don't have to worry about getting it somewhere cheaper because they are competetive. I shop at Menard's South in Rochester at least once a week for home repair and a remote cabin I am building. The three things I like most about it: 1) Consistently the lowest prices in town. Very seldom do I find an item costs less elsewhere. 2) Very easy return policy. This is most important for my remote cabin where I buy more than I need so I am not short on supplies. This place is ridiculous. To get wood you have to go outside, walk across a hugh parking lot and go into a large building with 2 floors. Then you need to find your wood carry it back across the parking lot to pay in the front of the store. No one out there to help you and no carts. Had to carry two bundles of spindles back.into the store. Never going back. Poor customer service and non-customer friendly store floor plan. read more
