I don't normally write reviews beyond giving stars, but this is the exception, because I have found a handyman service that is exceptional. I have now used Mend It Now Handyman five times (and counting) for almost every kind of thing you can think of: putting furniture together; various plumbing installs and fixes; cement patching; wood gate repair; wood deck repair; closet door repairs; and even moving boxes from 3 different levels into a U-Haul for me! There seems to be nothing they can't do! What I love about this company: They are local. Their pricing is beyond reasonable. If you don't like the work, they will fix it until you do. And most important to me: They are problem solvers and think outside the box. Rather than ripping something out and starting over with a hefty price tag, like a contractor, they can figure out good repairs and work arounds for previous contractors' bad installs and shoddy work. In my case, I have an old DC row house that was a quick flip 20 years ago. The work was subpar, at best. And we have spent too much money fixing some of the more egregious errors over the years. tldr: things started off strong, got a little bumpy and then ended strong and I would highly recommend Mend It Now Handyman Services. I filled out their online form on a Friday afternoon and received an email saying it would be reviewed by the team but if I wanted a quote quicker, I could call so I gave them a ring. I ended up talking to the owner of the company because his team was in a training that day. He thought the items I needed help with were straightforward, booked me for the next day at 11am with Remy ("he's excellent"), told me the base rate was $130 and that his technicians were never late (he must have said that at least 5 times). The next day at 10:59am I receive a call and text message saying that my technician is running about 15 min late. And I get it, things come up and I probably would have cared less if the owner didn't keep repeating it to me that his technicians were never late. Remy, and Leslie (I think that was correct and if it's not, sorry sir!) showed up at 11:18am. They came up, looked at my two projects -- fixing the collapsed shelves in my custom closet and fixing my broken laundry door -- and said no problem and went back down to get their tools. They were gone for at least 15 min and in that time a woman called to let me know the estimate was $200. I told her my conversation with the owner and the $130 rate and she told me he shouldn't have said that and that they estimate once they see the project, which totally makes sense. I did tell her that as a woman welcoming a stranger into her home I didn't realize two people were coming and a heads up next time would be helpful and she appreciated that. Remy and Leslie were there for two hours and they completed both projects and I'm very happy with the results. Once they completed the work, Remy called back to the office and I spoke with the same woman and confirmed that I was satisfied with the work. Within an hour I received my invoice to pay online -- super easy.
