It's a great place to bring your kids, to have parties, to have birthday parties, to have adult parties and BBQs. It's just a great place to get together and do all sorts of nonsense. Has: Baseball field, volleyball nets, covered tables, playground for the little parasites you call children, and a pretty big parking lot to service all your needs. All the equipment is pretty new, so it's even MORE BETTER than when I was a child. There's also a Farmers Market here. Every week? Every month? I dunno how frequently, because I don't live here anymore, but I know they're there. :D

Adjacent tree stands tall with a hallow base. Plenty of room to walk in. Brighter than other sites that are heavily shaded. Disturbingly, several trees lean or have fallen. Awoke by a fallen tree no more than 30 feet away. Starts off like firecrackers then ends with a big crash. No shut eye. Be afraid of them trees. The wild animals come in second. On a positive note, bundle wood are steadily priced at ten dollars.

The roads were a bit bumpy but nothing we couldn't handle. Restrooms were well maintained. We didn't use the showers, but it was nice knowing we had the option if needed... and it seemed like they were nice and hot since other guests were using them and the mirrors were fogging up (not complaining). We did notice a lot of brush piles, so hopefully they are actively taking care of the forest to prevent forest fires. Loved that we weren't too far from the beaches and enjoyed a day at Fort Bragg. We were looking for a place to camp this year and since we no longer want to camp in a tent, I was…read morelooking for a cabin. There are very few within a 3-4 hour distance from where I live and most go quickly. I was fortunate to find a cabin at Clear Lake and we booked for two nights in the middle of the week. That is easier to find than the weekends. We went in early July and the weather was perfect, traffic getting there was clear as well since it was midweek, the last 10 miles winding into the mountains was a bit scary and tiresome but well worth the drive. Someone from the park called that day to check when we would be arriving so they could arrange check in. We got there around 3:30 and check in, which was easy. Note that if you are going to a cabin, make that clear, the attendant assumed that it was a tent site and told us that the particular site was reserved for employees. As I was getting to the point that I was getting upset, he realized that I was talking about a cabin. I didn't realize that I had to clarify that. They gave me a map to the park, which is quite large and very beautiful. Lots of tent camping sites but only one area for the cabins. The only downside was that the cabins, about 10 of them, are very close to each other. Each cabin has 2 bunk beds, a picnic table, a counter top and open closet. They also have electricity and A/C, all on timers. I love that the cabins have Dutch doors! Bathrooms are very close to the cabins and the parking. You have to pay for the showers and buy the tokens from the camp host who lives right by the cabins. You are not allowed to put up a tent in the cabin area. All the cabins have picnic tables and fire pits and they all face a beautiful meadow that is private to the cabins. The park has lots of hiking trails, dogs are welcome, an area for swimming and for fishing. I believe you can rent boats but since we did not do that, I am not 100% positive. The water was not clear but we had a great time swimming and trying to catch fish, we did not succeed but it was one of the best camping trips in memory. I can write pages but in summary, it was a fantastic experience with many wineries within 15-30 minutes from the entrance of the park. I would highly recommend.

It even had AC, which we didn't need to use. But what surprised me the most was the amount of wildlife we saw in less than 24 hours. We saw deer families on two occasions, a gray fox, osprey, great blue herons, black crowned herons, Asian bullfrogs (invasive) and their tadpoles, grebes, quail, scrub jays, ducks, squirrels (of course), etc. (We did not see any otters of beavers- maybe next time.) The campsites looked clean and serene. The beach area likewise. And all the people who worked there were friendly (entrance booth, site host, rangers). Overall, one of the best "camping" experiences ever in my 65 years.

I think there were 8 of us including Tobi. The ride was 90 minutes, mostly on the beach. It took about 15 minutes to get down and back from the beach. The horses seemed well cared for and were very responsive. Tobi knows her horses well and placed them so that they were with their buddies, so there were no "horsey" arguments. I would definitely choose to have this experience again.

We have been going to Blue Lakes for around 10 years. We were very disappointed this stay. The…read morestaff was edgy and unfriendly. The grounds were rundown. The staff stated when we got there that they couldn't wait to get out of there to go home, meaning Texas. Since the captain left the pool is closed. The management was using a mole poison on the lawn where pets and people lounge.Our towel was stained and the floor under the bed unswept.Barbara could use a lesson in customer service. The lake was absolutely beautiful as usual.

This is a very nice property. We have visited to rent boats and enjoy day use many times each…read moresummer. But, new management has been installed and our last visit was a nightmare. We reserved a boat and arrived at the designated time. The boat we were given, we found had an almost dead battery. I called the office from the lake and the manager told us to just click the breaker switch. So doing this we limped a little farther up the lake and then the battery died altogether. I once again called and the manager said she didn't know if she had a boat to retrieve us, but she would call back in 5 minutes. After 15 minutes we hailed another boat from the resort and asked them to tow us in. They said they also had been given a boat with a dead battery but were able to get back in and switch boats . When we got back to the dock I saw the manager and asked for a refund. She flatly refused and had her employees remove us from the property. I was with my 10 year old grandson and my 82 year old disabled husband. We were set to at least use the beach for the day, but no. Now day passes are no longer a part of boat rental . So she had her employees, who were red with embarrassment, pick up our belongings and usher us out the gate. This was such a change from the way the resort was run under the owners. I heartily advise avoiding this business until new management is installed. It's a shame really because we visited several times each summer with family and friends. We won't be back unless we hear things have changed for the better.
