I wasn't able to get an epidural in time, but she still advocated for me and supported my request to try, which meant a lot. She also guided me through different positions to help me push more effectively, which made a big difference. I especially appreciated her communication when our daughter's heart rate was dipping during contractions. After being unsatisfied by my previous primary care providers due to always feeling rushed and dismissed, I am really glad to have found Dr. Livingston. The appointment did not feel rushed, she asked many questions and also listened to my concerns seriously. She is very knowledgeable and gave feedback on what could be done / tested on my concerns & what wouldn't be helpful, and she also help set up any follow up tests necessary. My only wish is that it's easier to find appointment availability as I had to book months ahead, but I think that speaks to how great she is! Although it was just my first appointment, I'm looking forward to working with Dr. Livingston as I feel like she genuinely cares and will take care of her patients! On top of that, my recent periods were unusually painful, so I was even more worried. But the doctor was incredibly thorough and listened carefully to all of my symptoms. She even showed me diagrams of the uterus and explained everything step by step, which made me feel so reassured. During the transvaginal ultrasound, she examined everything in great detail and showed me the screen while explaining what I was seeing. She answered every question I had, and I felt truly cared for throughout the entire process. All the staff members were very kind as well. After being temporarily laid off due to the pandemic, I was approved for Medi-cal and this was the first clinic that popped up when I searched Medi-cal accepted obgyn. They're located right next to a WIC store too. I felt right at home from day one. The staff there makes you feel like family. Even though my Medi-cal wasn't fully processed, Dr. Joy tried her best to get a hold of them and went ahead and saw me anyway. I was given pre-natal vitamins at my very first appointment. I've been there about 3 times now and everyone is great. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes past my appointment time. They have you in and out. Thank you Doctor Joy and staff! Doctor stated she wasn't seeing me for a UTI and will not address that issue. That I need to go back to my primary with concern or go to Urgent Care. Then went to her staff and argue with them for taking the UTI test for me. CRAZY! AND...DID NOT USE GLOVES FOR PAP SMEAR! I told the receptionist but she didn't believe me. Nobody told me. I would have liked to have gone by his office to say goodbye to him and Eladia who was one of his nurses for years. Dr. Kaplan is the one in 2014 with tears in his eyes, told me at that time I had stage 2 metastatic breast cancer. I saw Dr. Kaplan last December 2017 and shared with him I'm at stage 4 now. I had a very disappointing experience with this office. Before my appointment, I was asked to email…read morea copy of my insurance card and complete all of the new patient intake paperwork, which I did. I assumed my insurance would be verified before my appointment was scheduled and before I was seen. A few months later, I received a bill for over $500. When I called the office to ask about it, they refused to discuss the issue and directed me to their billing department. The billing department told me the office does not accept my insurance, which is why I was being billed. I then contacted my insurance company and was informed that my visit required prior authorization. If prior authorization was needed, why wasn't this addressed before my appointment? The office had my insurance information ahead of time and should have verified my coverage, determined whether authorization was required, and either obtained it or informed me of any issues before my visit. My insurance company also told me they would cover the visit if the office contacted them or submitted a retroactive prior authorization request. My insurance representative even called the office to explain this, but the office stated that they do not submit retroactive authorizations and would not contact the insurance company. Instead, they expected me to pay the entire bill out of pocket. While I was on the phone, the billing department contacted the doctor's office on my behalf. They later called me back and said there was nothing they could do except offer me a discount. While I appreciate the discount, I don't believe patients should be responsible for paying for a situation that could have been prevented through proper insurance verification, prior authorization, and communication. Overall, this was a very frustrating experience. Based on my experience, the office was unwilling to take the steps my insurance company said could allow the claim to be covered, leaving me with an unexpected bill that might have been avoidable. I hope this office improves its insurance verification and authorization process so future patients are fully informed and don't receive unexpected bills months after their appointments.
