The decor, including the microwave and refrigerator, were chosen to provide a retro vibe. I just feel this could have been a lot better, especially for the price of the room. The manager was not here when we arrived at 5:00 pm and was unavailable by phone. It would have been nice to be able to talk to someone because this is kind of a remote area, no cell service and the wifi didn't work, so how could we know what's available around here? There were ants everywhere in the room, though I'm sure that's not normal for this place. The yard was nice (though showing some neglect), but we weren't sure where it was ok to sit and relax because -- again -- the management wasn't available. The ice machine was broken. TL/DR: Potentially nice, but for the money we've stayed in much better historic hotels on our route.

The check in time is better than most places: 2pm. They have a decent little motel breakfast in the lobby (gravy and biscuits are included and not terrible). There's a popcorn machine that guests are welcome to grab a bag from for free. Ice water is in the lobby when you get in from a long, hot day on the river. We've never had an issue with noise or an insufficient amount of pillows/towels. Parking is plentiful. The 1st floor rooms are accessed from the outside. Elevator always works and is sizable. There is only 1 luggage cart, but I'm guessing people who are staying at a Super 8 aren't bringing multiple suitcases. Price is reasonable for what you get ($99-120 depending on where you book; we pay $99 on Expedia in the summer months). This is our go to spot for after floating lodging (we're past that camping period of our lives haha).

There's popcorn in the evening, complimentary toiletries, the rooms have a fridge/microwave, the beds are reasonably comfortable, and the prices are always super reasonable. Parking is always ample. If you're floating in Steelvile and done with the camping scene, stay here. It's located right on the highway and a 25 minute drive from the major floating outfits.

Couple hours later my wife is barged in on by the manager and told that there's only supposed to be one person in the room. They do not allow "white whoXXs" in their hotel. That she needed to get her shxx out and while she was at it take mine as well. Once I showed up and confronted her she back peddled of course. I asked her "wouldn't the proper course of action be to tell me there was a charge for additional guest and not speak to my wife using racial and derogatory names?" I say racial because the manager was of a different decent than Caucasian. I would hate to see anyone support a business that was ran that way
