The Mercato Mayfair is essentially an indoor food court living in an old church. It's not particularly accessible, there are quite a few stairs to get to the second floor and upstairs patio (there is an elevator but it's for wheelchair users only) but they do have a nice array of restauraunts. We wished we'd known you can just sit at the patio and order and they'll deliver it to you, but you can also go up to each stall to order and receive a pager. We liked that it was an easy way to eat outdoors (which is what we tend to do while traveling) and that they had quite a bit to choose from. The stain glass window is also really gorgeous as you walk up and down the stairs. All in all, while maybe not a must-do, if you're staying in the area, it's definitely a good stop for eats if you're looking for something simple and easy. read more

It is fascinating and amazing how they utilized the space to make it a place to enjoy food rather then Jesus! Lool It is multiple stories floors etc etc...when you first walk in you are greeted with all these cute succulents for sale and other foliage. It smells great. There is also a banana pudding place to the right. They have signage on the wall that indicates what is available on each respective floor. They literally have everything to choose from. Mexican, Italian, English food and Gelato! Plus coffee! Since I was visiting London I decided to try fish & chips! Wow fried to perfection! The fries were so good, and the fish needs some Lowrys. Stopped by Mercato Mayfair on a layover with six coworkers, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The space alone is worth the visit--set inside a stunning cathedral with stained glass windows and beautiful woodwork, it's unlike anything else in London. Even the pulpit has been transformed into a gin bar, and there's also a German craft beer bar, which just adds to the uniqueness of the experience. The food options are incredible--basically something for everyone. We saw everything from homemade pasta and Napoli-style pizza to British grass-fed burgers, tacos and margaritas, pad Thai, Indian dishes, gelato, wine, and desserts like baklava and banana pudding. It's almost overwhelming (in a good way), and perfect for a group with different tastes. Seating is a bit of an adventure--main floor is first-come, first-served and fills up fast, the upstairs has limited small tables, and the basement offers more intimate, restaurant-style spaces that looked like they take reservations. My advice: get there early to grab a table, or plan to enjoy a drink while soaking in the lively, energetic atmosphere. A really unique experience - its in an old church that is now a food hall with a variety of really good vendors - think really good food trucks. The best is you get to choose whatever you want and your family can too - Each little place is independent and you order there and get a pager. (Keep them straight as you might end up with 3-4 little pagers)... The teriyaki chicken was perhaps the best asian starter we have had in a long time - dont miss that one. Fresh made pasta from another vendor, - also excellent - made with love. And basque cheesecake (my wife had tiramisu cheesecake) from a vendor in the middle. This building gives you church vibes until you step inside and the church that it might have been once there is a magical food/drink place. Everything is made to order, consist of three floors and the basement has a wine bar/sushi and cocktail bar.. the sushi was tasty but wasn't the best. The pizza on the second floor (main floor) was excellent. Simple yet flavorful and fresh ingredients. The third floor has tacos and margaritas but the. There is a rooftop bar that has heating lamps out there so that was a must. You are able to order and take your food anywhere. Annoyed by Front door staff My visit was overshadowed by an annoying staff member . We tried the cacio pepe pasta made in the big cheese wheel- so good! Basque cheesecake - outstanding! Little cart selling mexican drinks- helpful and nice Staff coming around taking away dishes- thank you. Front door guy- you can F right off. We could barely get in the Mercado, he was stopping everybody . He broke his own back, running up to us as we were killing multiple bags from all the shopping we were doing all day , one bag was Selfridges foodhall. He said you can't bring outside food in. I opened the bag, I don't have any outside food to consume now. This was petite fours and cupcakes to take home. He waved us off. Hubby and I found a table. I ordered first. I came back with my pasta. I told my husband they did not have Coke. So whatever he decided to get make sure he brought me back a Coca-Cola.... My husband went to get his food. I was eating my pasta and out of nowhere front door guy comes over and points to my bottle of water and says put that away you can't have outside food. He walked away before I could even collect myself All my husband and I spent about 56 pounds for dinner and got yelled at twice . completely ruined the whole date. First night here didn't know what to get into but this was a hit. There were so many options to choose from it could not fail. Coffee, pizza,pasta, desserts, drinks all on one place! The service was as expected everyone's busy, there are plenty of spots to sit but good luck finding any. Fascinating place and such a great way to repurpose a beautiful old building. We got nachos and margaritas which were surprisingly good. The only downside of our visit was the menacing "plain clothes security guard" who interrupted our meal to ask us if our small bottle of water was plastic or glass. If plastic, we would need to "hide it away"! (If it had been glass, I guess it could have sat on the table while we ate??). Housed in a former Church, The Mercato Mayfair is a food hall on steroids. It's grand, busy and full of so many options. When we walked in on a Friday evening, it was jam packed. There are many communal dining tables and some smaller intimate tables lining the perimeters. You place your order at a food stall, pay and then they give you a light up pager to let you know when your order is ready. There are multiple levels at MM with food stalls. Pretty much anything you can think of is here: Italian, Bao Buns, Ramen, Lobster Rolls...you name it, you can probably find it here. There is also a mezzanine level that has more food stalls, an outdoor rooftop patio, and a cellar. Most of the hall was filled but the cellar level had the least amount of people in it and was really chill. If you want more of a tranquil setting, check out the cellar. We tried the homemade pasta and gelato food stalls. I would say the food was in the 2 to 3 star range. Not the best- but there are so many food stalls, I'm sure there are ones that serve better food. The real draw of Mercato Mayfair is the atmosphere, and in that realm, MM definitely delivers. I would definitely go back to try more of the food stalls and admire the uniqueness the converted church has to offer. read more

There is Mexican food, Italian food, Indian food, pizza, ramen, steak, burgers, lobster rolls, matcha, gelato, coffee, and more. My mom and I opted to try out the nachos from Club Mexicana. We ordered the loaded nachos. This had tortilla chips, ground beef, queso, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, guacamole, chili lime salt and chipotle oil. This has to be the best nachos I have ever tasted. So flavorful. Everything it had tasted perfect. Portion size was good for 2 or 3 people to share. Wished we tried more of the other food here. Beautiful church turned food hall. So unassuming from the outside and when you walk in it's beyond a treat to see the beautiful stain glass and feel so welcomed. I probably could have tried all of the eateries here but settled on Dez Amore for pasta. A little bummed they were out of the lasagna ravioli but got the carbonara which was still amazing. It was unique experience to be at a bar that used to be a Catholic church. They have kept the altar and key sections of the church. It took a bit of adjustment for me to get comfortable with the idea that the altar was the bar. The place is really nice. The place has a nice old gothic flare that makes the dining experience more enjoyable. We only had dessert during our visit. It's a pretty unique concept - food court inside an old church. We arrived right after their opening time, so it wasn't really busy. Plenty of tables were available. Some of them were reserved for big parties. They have 3 level of foods varies from oysters bar, beef burger, pasta, asian cuisines, gelato,alcohol drinks, etc ... basically, you would easily to find anything to eat here. We ordered a ramen bowl, Thai egg fried rice with prawn and chicken, and Pad Thai prawn. Honestly, we didn't like the food here, but the ambiance was nice. There was staff coming to take your bowl away after you finished. I was very satisfied with the matcha drinks here and gelato. In London on business. It was cold and raining, so we did not want to wander too far to eat. This place was a great surprise find. A beautiful setting, (a grand old cathedral), lots of food choices (a food hall/indoor farmers market type atmosphere). All the places are owner operated I believe, so every chef took pride in making great fresh dishes. We started in the basement and ate our way to the top floor. My friend made reservations for 6 (so crowded it's a must!) and even had to input her credit card # to hold the table. She never received a confirmation email so when we arrived, they said "sorry, we don't know what you're talking about." Re*pur*pose: adapt to be used for a new purpose. This meaning of the term was first thought to be used circa 1984. Well now seems like a pretty solid time to utter it for the first time on Henry's Take, and here's why. The former "tenant" at this location was...St. Mark's Church. Yep, you heard me. Although the church was built 1825-1828, it was deconsecrated in 1974. After a significant period of idleness, followed by a significant restoration effort, the Mercato Mayfair was born in 2019. Sound like an anomaly? Whelp, it just happens to be the only market currently housed in an old church in London. Its current iteration features 2 floors of worldwide food options and a cellar that is worthy of your time, even if you aren't hungry or thirsty. Certainly not your traditional "food hall," it also happens to be dog-friendly and offers live music on Sundays. During our visit we sampled some Italian items from Fresco Pizza Napoletana. Although I (now with some recent hesitation) maintain that, "I'm not a bread guy," the crust featured in both the (Margherita pizza and calzone) were simply excellent.
