I just passed my road test on my first try, so I can say that this driving school has competent instructors. I took lessons with 4 different instructors, but I recommend Melba and scheduled at least 10 of the 16 lessons specifically with her. She taught me everything and gave me the confidence I needed for the road test. I really appreciated the feedback she gave, clear answers to my questions, and her patience. This was my second driving school after my previous one turned out to be a total disaster. The staff at Mercedes Driving School were far more professional and helpful. I'm an older student and don't have the resources to learn or practice outside of my lessons, but my instructor Taso did a great job and went above and beyond, helping me gain confidence and learn to focus on the right things. Another good reason to choose this place is that all of the cars are identical. If you get a different instructor for a lesson or a road test, you're still sure to get a car that handles the same. You don't have to get used to something new every time. That might sound like a simple thing, but in my experience, switching between cars too much while learning can mess up your progress. I found the staff to be very professional in general but I think it really matters who your instructor is. I took classes with two different instructors and the experience was very different. When I first called the office the lady on the phone was very helpful and informative. When I stated my interest she instructed me to go to the office to sign paperwork. My daughter and I went and the young lady in the office was also very helpful. At that time though, there were 2 guys arguing in the other office and we could hear their arguments because they were loud. I think that was a little unprofessional to have loud arguments where clients can hear. My daughter was satisfied with her instructor who gave her constructive criticism which helped her a lot (not unlike the other driving school she went prior where the instructor didn't tell her why and what she did wrong therefore she didn't know how to correct her mistakes). I haven't been here in over a year because this place traumatized me and driving in general. I had a lesson with George and it was the absolute worst and it took me everything to not get out of the car mid lesson and walk home. He was rude, loud (yelled at me if I made any kind of mistake), put the radio on so I couldn't concentrate, and unnecessarily sarcastic. It was only my second driving lesson ever yet he expected me to know everything and towards the end seeing how upset I was, he still tried to convince me to buy more lessons even though I expressed my discomfort and financial issues at the time. He made my anxiety go through the roof when I was already nervous as is. I cried when I got home because of the experience and haven't had a driving lesson since or been back to this place even though I still have my driving test scheduled there. It made me reconsider taking anymore driving lessons in general it was so terrible. It took me so long to write this review because I didn't want to be mean but I think it's important I share my experience to warn other people against this guy and company. He claims he's done this for so and so years, well maybe it's time he retired if he doesn't have the consideration and patience that new people on the road need to succeed. read more

I bought a 10 lesson package and then passed the road test(11min) first try! I started as a nooby and then finished to become a good driver. My instructor George is incredible! He gives great observation, tips, and critique. Esspecially teaching how to parallel park and make corrections easily if needed. I thought I would struggle but I mastered it! I did the 5-hour course remotly through zoom, easy peasy. Be sure to hold onto a few lessons to schedule before your road test date (available after 5-hour course) to freshen up and cover on some weaknesses. The office does a great job as well. Making appointments over the phone is very quick and you get text message reminders a day or 2 before the lesson. read more

I started taking lessons from this school last year with George, who is a pretty good instructor. Personally, I did not respond that well to his way of teaching. I often felt awkward in the car, and even though it was near the height of COVID-19, he spoke negatively of wearing masks (whilst I was wearing one - he wore a cloth covering). Still, his instructions were simple and easy to follow, so I didn't say anything. Unfortunately, I didn't schedule a road test and ended up taking a gap year before resuming my lessons a couple of months ago. With George's instructions, I was able to get the basics of driving and it was definitely a good instructor to start with. The car I used with George was a bit more difficult to drive, I'm guessing it was on the older side - nonetheless, it still worked. When I resumed my classes this year, I asked for a different instructor to see if I would progress differently (which I did!) This time my instructor was Tasos, and turns out his daughter and I were in the same graduating class at Cardozo! Even though I had already taken several lessons, it felt like I was starting all over again, and when we first met, I just asked him if we could go through everything again. He was very patient and encouraging and my first lesson with him was great. I decided to follow through with him as my instructor. I scheduled another five lessons before scheduling my road test. All the lessons went smoothly and often times we would joke in the car about how there's almost no one on the road who respects student drivers. Kostas and George were amazing instructors! I took the 10 class course plus 5 hour class and they were wonderful! George made me feel very comfortable and helped me a lot with my fright about driving around other cars, helped me learn how to do a 3 point turn and also the necessary tips in order to park. my last two classes were with Kostas and he definitely gave me all the tips in order to pass and I did!! on my very first try and let me tell you i was extremely nervous!!! My instructor, Kostas, was a great instructor and thus I passed my road test! On the day of the road test, I was told to arrive an hour early. I was sitting around for 25 minutes until the owner, Harry, came. First immediate red flag was that he walked in without a mask then proceeded to not even wear a mask inside the car! Practicing COVID safety guidelines, am I right? While we were on the way to the exam site, he was raising his voice at me telling me to change lanes even though I had never done it; since I only had lessons around the neighborhood on two-way streets, where I never had to change lanes. I already had anxiety before the road test and him raising his voice definitely did not help lol. George, is an amazing instructor. He is so absolutely Thorough and really put his soul into teaching you. All of my lessons except one (my first) were with him, I had him my with a second lesson of mine a requested him with five of my remaining. He teaches your things that you won't forget! I had taken 4 lessons with him and then returned to school so I put my road test On hold, OVER A YEAR LATER I had taken two final lessons (remembered everything he told me) and passed my road test my first time. I took the road test with them twice. The first time I took some lessons with George, he was a good instructor and will make sure you're paying attention (he'll ask you to turn onto one way streets to see if you're awake), but his car is really sensitive and not the easiest car to drive. After I failed my first road test I took lessons again with Adrian, she was great and her car was much easier to drive. Her style of teaching was a bit different than George and I liked it a bit better, but I can't really describe why. I think I felt a bit calmer when driving with her. If you want to take lessons with them and buy a package, I recommend using your first 2 or 3 lessons on different instructors just so you can get a feel of what their cars are like and what their teaching style is like. You don't want to blow your whole package on an instructor (or car) that you aren't too crazy about. Also make sure to schedule your road test with your instructor (or that you know who you're taking it with), the school can give you a different instructor/car and not tell you as long as they still have you taking it with someone. read more

I just passed my road test today after taking it for the first time. I had a 10 class package with Mike and felt very comfortable driving at the end of the course. He is a very patient instructor. If you make a mistake he calmly explains how to correct it. I really appreciated his approach since I was nervous to drive. Road test was a breeze thanks to everyone at Mercedes!
