This is the worst place on earth. They must be deleting bad reviews because I have MULTIPLE friends who have gone to this school and they have had the same bad experiences I did. They're unprofessional and extremely hard to work with. Joyce is the sole person scheduling things, and she is horrible at her job. They do not give you your 5-hour cert. They hold on to it, so you can only schedule your road test through them, and you cannot schedule it yourself. They add on months of wait time, as opposed to 1-2 months if you scheduled it yourself. I paid around 1k for 10 lessons, which turned out to actually be five 90-minute lessons. Very misleading!! I have had 2 instructors from them. The first one, Jason, was unreachable after 2 lessons, for some reason. He was okay at his job, not super motivating, but did what he needed to do. Joyce offered to switch instructors for the rest of my lessons, and oh my god. My second instructor, Johnm, was so unprofessional and mean. He NEVER gave me positive feedback, only mumbling about how horrible I was at each and every turn. He was smoking cigarettes before and after every lesson, which isn't necessarily a problem, but very unprofessional to do in front of the client and made the car smell. One time, he cut one of my lessons early cause he wanted a car wash. We got out of the car, and he lit up a cigarette as I just awkwardly watched the car go through. I could not believe this was the lesson I paid for. I did not even end up finishing my course with them, because every lesson felt like a humiliation ritual. I couldn't even get a hold of my 5 hr cert, so I started over at another driving school and passed my test on my first try with a perfect score. read more

Just passed my road test at Kissena Park and it's 10000% all thanks to my amazing instructor Kenny. I took the road test one other time 3 years ago when I went to a different driving school with a not so good instructor that gave zero feedback. I knew I wasn't prepared and failed. I looked for a better driving school and found No.1 where comments were flooded with great recommendations for instructors here. I chose Kenny and I would recommend him to anyone else too! He is extremely hard working, sets you up against his own standards only to benefit you and make sure you pass the road test standards. He gives great pointers that'll ensure your get yourself parallel parking right every time, make your turns super smooth and will always be nice and honest with his comments. Make sure you take into account his feedback and really memorize them and put them into place! It's nothing but beneficial! i can finally say..... i can drive now! i failed a few years back i believe because i was WAYYYYYYY too nervous (palms sweaty, sweating like a rainfall.. you know the deal) come present day 2020. i have a renewed determination because my permit was yet again expiring so i wanted so badly to pass. i researched for flushing's driving schools and after calling multiple sources to check package bundles and pricing, i settled on this one because it was the cheapest. (pic attached) i paid and wasnt given the ability to get specific instructors (i didnt mind who i was gonna get) BUT like many reviewers here have commented on, i got one of the multilingual instructors, KENNY. i bought the 16 lesson package and learned for a straight month. saved the last lesson for the morning of test. kenny was an absolute trooper. i told him my experience that i failed with the last school and that im starting fresh (which he didnt expect) but with his guidance, i was able to understand the things i was doing wrong. IMO, hes a perfectionist but gave constructive feedback on each driving test portion (Left, Right, U turn, pull over, parallel park). he believed in me when there were moments where i absolutely just did not get it like knowing when to stop for parallel parking, but he was patient and believed in my potential. hes also good because he verbally tells you what the "schedule" of lessons should be IN A BIRDS EYE VIEW WAY. so say in a 16 lesson aka 9 lesson deal, it goes from understanding the signs, basics of turning (when, what, how) to fine tuning those turns to learning U turn then Pull over then parallel parking. for alot of people, test taking is just that but for me, it is a nerve wracking pile of fears. a big part of what helped me to pass the test was also confidence and being relaxed. i know i could do the actual steps if not for the test proctor asking me to do it but knowing that the only thing that mattered was those 10 mins was the scary part. you will see 15+ cars all testing probably in groups of 4-6. dont be afraid of big buses coming your way when doing ur road test, just make room for them (keep right). joyce, the lady who will probably be the person you talk to when paying for your package or scheduling will call if any issues arise. they have TONS of students so if you have trouble calling them, id say to go to their office if its not that much of a burden. all in all, my success is due to kenny. i dont think i would have gained this "confidence" if he was not able to break down the schematics of each test portion. read more

I signed up my daughter for the 5 lessons/2 road test attempts with this driving school because of all the great reviews I read about Kenny. My daughter was very nervous for her first lesson and Kenny allowed me to sit in the back seat. He was very patient and explained everything in detail. I particularly like how he drew on a white board to explain things further. Kenny definitely surpassed my expectation and beyond. I was referred this school by my friend and he told me to choose Kenny as a instructor and i'm so glad I did it . I passed my first Road test after taking 2 class with Kenny. He is so patient and have a great tips for parallel parking , 3 point turn and everything I need to pass the test) I basically know how to drive I was drove in another country about 3 years but on the other side so I feel almost the same driving on the left side in NYC. I have nothing but positive words to say about No.1 Driving School. Jason was my instructor and he's the best! He is patient, straightforward and very insightful of my driving quirks so he could teach me to detect and correct them, even when I didn't notice them myself. His feedback was honest and helpful but never aggressive or condescending - I've had some terrible experiences with driving instructors screaming when I made mistakes, but Jason got his points across and made sure I improved without ever making me feel bad. He's also just the nicest, most personable and genuine person to drive around with, so class time was actually fun. I don't speak Chinese but this was never an issue as Jason communicates well in English. I was a very anxious new driver and thought I would need a few tries to make it through, but after 9 classes with Jason, I passed my test on my first attempt. I found coordination with the office easy - I always came in to see Joyce before or after class if I needed something, and she was able to accommodate my requests. I never tried to call but my text messages were replied pretty quickly. For the most part scheduling lessons was easy; however, two of my lessons were rescheduled at short notice (within 24 hours) so if you have a flexible schedule, that would definitely help. The school also handled my road test booking, etc. and made the test day experience very smooth for me. Pricing was super (almost too) fair for the quality of classes and service I received. I rarely write reviews but I had to do Kenny some justice. He's absolutely amazing, I finally was able to pass thanks to him. Trust me, coming from someone who have absolutely no idea how to drive, Kenny is your best bet. I have so much trouble with turning but Kenny gave me so much advice that I got no points taken off for the 3 main things I was tested on. He even had these whiteboard to draw out the road for me bc sometimes I have trouble understanding the turning part. With the school itself, they only accept cash so that's a head up I was so caught off guard but thankfully they have some big bank around that area. Joyce was very accommodating with my constant schedule change due to school. I would say to avoid calling and leave them a text instead if it's not too urgent, they will get back at some point. If it's urgent, I would say you have better luck visiting their office instead of calling. I am in my 30s, always have had anxiety and fear of driving but with the pandemic and rise in crimes I decided to do it finally. I bought the 10 lessons package plus pre-license course. Took my road test within 2 months and passed on my first try. Mind you, I didn't have a car to practice with so my entire experience before the road test was from my lessons with John. He points out any bad habits immediately and drives home the key points and best practices, drills those into you so I felt prepared the day of my road test. He will make sure to point out any mistakes while driving and show you the techniques to adjust it so that you can pass the road test. He is very patient will to his best to teach you by providing several examples. I had Kenny as my instructor and I am amazed at how his driving lessons and coaching were able to get me the driver's license. Coming from Manhattan, it was not easy to come to Flushing for each lesson but I'm glad I chose Kenny because he delivered what I wanted exactly! I've had total 4 driving lessons with Kenny and passed the road test on the 1st attempt. His lessons are through, logical and he give tips of how the road test is being conducted and what the examiner is looking for. He is very observant and patient. Just passed my road test today thanks to my instructor Kenny. He gave a lot of helpful tips and explains steps throughly for the different turns and parallel parking. He makes sure that you are doing everything correctly and points out ur mistakes on the spot. The school's schedule can be a bit messy and it can be hard to reach them through phone. Came here at first for just a car rental since I have been driving for many years in my home country. The rental was really affordable! Moreover, Kenny gave me a lot of tips and tricks on how to drive in the US even though I never scheduled a class w him. However, I did fail my first test (was too cocky lol) but did bounce back and scheduled another road test and a class with Kenny. I practiced on my own and then had a final class with Kenny in which he honed my driving skills and pointed out small bad habits that I do. I have seen the prices with other driving schools which ranges from an unbelievable $800-$2000 for just 5/6 classes. No1 provides the same service with half the cost. Location- the meetup spot is conveniently located at a small street away from the heavy traffic. The location of the office is right across the street from the library. If you're going to switch dates of road tests or have any questions, I would recommend going in person. The testing location will be at Kissena park. Instructor- I had all my classes with Jerry. As many can tell, he's the most reviewed instructor so with no doubt, if you wanna pass the exam, take him. Fluent in both English and Mando, with a touch of sarcasm, he's very well versed with the testing requirements and will give critical advice. He's not afraid to tell you where you messed up because he only wants to make sure you can pass. You have to keep texting to schedule classes instead of having a set class time every week. Maybe it was just for me, since other people review him favorably, but Jerry seemed to get annoyed every time I did something incorrectly and made me feel extremely nervous so I switched over to Kenny for my second class onward. Under Kenny's teaching, I went from being a nervous & unsure driver to a MUCH more confident one and passed my road test on my first attempt today! Kenny really turns your driving weaknesses into strengths, and teaches everything you need to know for the road test (L/R turns, 3 point turns, parallel parking, pulling over) in ways that make all of them so easy to understand.
