I was referred to Dr. Choksy for a routine surgical clearance. I went to him with no prior cardiac…read moreissues, no symptoms of any cardiac problems. On my first visit (and $50 copay later), I had an EKG which I had been told was what was required for the surgical clearance. I met with Dr. Choksy for only a couple of minutes as he looked at the EKG. Everything showed normal, yet he insisted we perform an Echocardiogram before he would sign off on the surgical clearance. I want to restate here once more, all showed normal. I just wanted my surgery so I agreed. Almost a month later I come in for my echo. I was in and out in about half an hour. It took another week and half before the office contacted me. I was told that while yes, everything seemed fine, he wasn't able to get enough clear images to determine my ejection fraction and that he would not sign off on the surgical clearance without that. Mind you, all that is really needed is an EKG, which I had in the initial visit. The Echocardiogram cost me another $400 and was apparently a waste of time according to them. Now they want to perform a MUGA Scan, ofc at an additional cost to me. I have researched this surgery, I am going in for weight loss surgery. It has been proven time and time again that even in patients with a bad ejection fraction, weight loss surgery is known to improve function. So, to me this seems like a waste of time and money to get it when this surgery is known to improve it even IF it is bad. However, none of the tests I have had so far have given any clue to any sort of problem. I have good insurance, so I think this office is bleeding patients and insurances for all they can, dragging their feet before giving any authorization so that they can get every penny they can out of their patients.

It's one thing to be new, but to have gone in and provided my insurance card already. Please get better at your job. To tell a patient insurance is inactive, toss my insurance card like it means nothing on the counter, and say you'll need to pay out of pocket. Not gonna fly on my watch. You should always go above and beyond for your patients. You know it's not like you work at a Drs office. It's not the dmv! And it turns out my benefits are active. Since March 1st, crazy . He has so many stints from heart attacks they call it almost a full metal jacket. My husband was having chest pains today and I called 911 and they sent this squad out. The man was abusive, I was on the phone with my parents and they heard his abusive way. The man raised his voice at my husband and myself and said he was sure my there was no way my husband was in heart failure! I said tell his cardiologist that! He was a big bully! Accused my husband of being an iv drug user and my husband has never done drugs! He has heart trouble and had many hospital stays and the scar tissue on his arms is from hospital stays! When he got my husband in the ambulance (this man was having chest pains mind you) he picked a fight with him about religion!! I called and complained and was told that don't sound like this man b/c he's a preacher. Well he's a bully preacher then! He had no right first to yell at either of us, he had no right to DIAGNOSE my husband long term heart problem just by looking at him!! Not even taken a bp yet! I'm still so angry I won't get any sleep. I
