Very poor experience, I was treated poorly throughout the entire stay and I had to beg to be discharged from how poor of care I was getting

We have had a medical doctor for years and now they have laid her off or terminator for some reason unknown to us. We also know of others who have left their practices at Mercy Hospital for unknown reasons. Went to ER for a pinched nerve in my neck. First, I was given x-rays, which showed my discs are degenerative, and I would need to see an ortho dr. So, I was referred to one. Made the appt, and to my surprise, when I arrived, I was still in pain, bc ER wouldn't treat me, and sent me to a specialist. I was told this Dr doesn't see neck and spine injuries....I said the ER sent me here. She said well im sorry this Dr can't help you. Go across the hall. So I go to another office and get an appt. They can't see me for weeks. So far, I've been given no treatment, wrong dr, and spent $150. I get in to see the Dr. He says Def pinched nerve, take some steroids and gabepention and start PT," and then we will try Cortisone Shots. I said im allergic to Gabepention. I've been on it 4 or 5 times in 5 years for Fibro, his answer-well, maybe it will work this time....so take a med. im allergic too? He said yes. Then he says if the shots dont work, we will have to operate on your neck. So I followed the Dr's order. I asked how to get through until it settled down, and he said... nothing just wait, and it hurts a lot. So, of course, as I start taking a medication that im allergic to, my chart says it. And I TOLD him, I was in the middle of driving my kids over the weekend, and my BP fell so low I passed out. BECAUSE GABEPENTION, AND LYRICA lower my BP, have trouble breathing and break out in hives.... So now my question is, who's responsible? I have never heard of a dr saying to take a med. you're allergic too, and when I sent him a message telling him im no longer his patient, his response was...just take some benadryl. Do the Dr's realize these are human beings they are playing games with their lives?? I cant believe I actually thought the Dr knew what was best. What action can/will be taken so this doesn't happen to someone else. I've talked to my attorney about options, this is scary and if it happened here, its not the first time. read more

Rehabilitation....one nurse(Melissa)thinks it's a dating site....this his a rehabilitation center to help patient get better not to find a man to live with n have him move in with u!!!!! She bought the patient clothes while in rehabilitation never seen anyone else buy patient clothes.....this is disgusting the rehabilitation nurse needs to be checked or fired... would never send anyone I know to this rehabilitation.... nurse (Melissa) has the patient living with her n dating here seem like a dating site then a rehabilitation center to help patient get better...comon get this rehabilitation right instead using it for a dating site....the nurse needs to be fired it's making the rehabilitation look bad n disgusting...... read more

If I could a no star review I would. Never saw or talked to one doctor nor did a doctor reach out to me. I tried several times to get information and did not. They were taking care of my parents at the same time and had no response. Both my grandparents died there - it was awful. I do applaud the team their childbirth since I had both kids there but at the same time no doctor interaction with my parents and getting information was horrid. NOTE...my kids are 21 and 18 so I can only go back that far. I don't suggest this hospital to anyone. Maybe UC Health or Bethesda. AWEFUL. read more

My husband was having abdominal issues for a few days, and it finally became too much, so I took him to the ER. Mercy Hospital Fairfield is the closest emergency room to our house, so that's where we chose. There was only one patient in line ahead of us, so check in was really quick. I appreciated that they also don't ask for a ton of info, so that sped up the process as well. We didn't event sit in the waiting room; they took us back to a bay right away. The worst part of the visit was an unusually painful blood draw done by a student, but my husband was gracious and a trooper and said "there is no other way for a student to get good at blood draws than by doing reps!". After 20 ish min in the bay, they took us to our own room. It was small, but worked great for what we needed. Several members of the care staff came in for various things, like an IV, payment (we got a 20% discount for paying our co-pay there, which was SO helpful), etc. Most were wonderful and really lightened the mood. Some even got my husband to laugh a little. The dr was fantastic. (Dr. Berg, I think?) We saw him multiple times throughout the visit. He really took his time to explain everything and make sure we didn't have any questions. My husband is very wary of doctors, so it was great to see him so comfortable with this one. Honestly, we both would go see him as a primary care physician if we could. They got everything done within 5 hours and sent us home. Overall, it was about as good of a trip to the ER as one could hope for. We will definitely visit Mercy again in an emergency. read more

A loved one received care at Mercy hospital for a severe health complication in early March, the broad majority of nurses and clinicians were incredibly kind, caring, and helpful, as was reception in directing me to her room. One glaring issue that truly tarnished the care received was one night shift doctor. This doctor did not see their patient personally, in fact, I did not get the chance to even know their name or department, but I was made aware that they prescribed the patient morphine in place of their generally prescribed pain medication which the doctor refused leading to a painful reaction, one nurse also lacked any sense of timeliness leaving the patient waiting hours for discharge read more

I had to have my colonoscopy. I scheduled with my regular GI at a different facility. The day of my colonoscopy, my GI realized we couldn't have my procedure at her in office location due to my requiring special safety precautions. I was sent to Mercy Fairfield. They got me in the same day. THANK GOODNESS. No one wants more colon prep than necessary. My team was a fantastic and inclusive group. I felt very supported. This is not my usual facility but I had a really great experience with what we all know is one of the low points of life. read more

I had surgery on my foot at Mercy Fairfield, the billing has been a disaster, they charged me up front 4900 the day of surgery. They have filed the claim with my insurance multiple times incorrectly. They have not provided the corrections necessary to complete the claim. I have met my deductible with insurance and am still having to pay medical bills due to Mercy's inability to do their job correctly. I would give no stars if that were possible. I was quickly diagnosed as a stroke victim and admitted for medical treatment followed by in-patient Occupational, Physical, and Speech Therapies for 10 days after medical treatment. All of the nurses and various rehab specialists for very well-trained, courteous, and thorough. read more

Over the years, I've heard mixed reviews about Mercy Fairfield. However, I had a great experience with their Labor and Delivery Department. I chose them to begin with due to the convenience of their location and my current OB. Though I had to have an emergency c-section, my doctor and nursing staff were very supportive and informative. The next few days in recovery was also a positive experience due to the amazing nursing staff. They were each personable, knowledgeable, and most importantly willing to help. I would go again if given the opportunity! read more

There is a reason this facility only has 1 and a half stars and it showed today why. Showed up for an MRI and they said we are so sorry but the machine is down. No one bothered to call me to tell me this before I drove 20 minutes one way to get there. I have an upcoming procedure that is now in limbo and may have to be rescheduled because of them. Took my husband to the ER here because he had something wrong with his eye. It's close to the house. We sat for an hour and a half. The y took his vitals and we waited. And waited. I heard the nurses discuss how the Epic system was messed up since to upgrade, how they have no rooms, and how when they move a patient in the system it discharged them! If you have no rooms, why not refer patients a to another hospital? We were the second ones here and by the time we left, there was about 10 people....all waiting! This hospital system has a bad reputation when I left Ohio 6 years ago and upon returning to Ohio, I can see it has not improved! Patient care is NOT stacking them up like dominoes in the waiting room! We left here and went to the urgent care and was seen within 15-20 minutes of getting here. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else! Anywhere else! I will never come to this hospital or any other hospital in their network! Mercy ER is terrible, my husband went in with chest pain and was told he would be admitted. It toll them 5 hours to get a room. this took us past dinner and I asked for him to get something to eat , we waited 2 hours and saw no one, then he rang the nurse to use the bathroom again we see no one till we called again. Also his ER room was right next to the main nurse's desk and we heard all their conversations, calling other staff names and dropping the f bomb quite few times . When I walked out g=to get a nurse there were about 6 nurses sitting in chairs a couple with their feet up on desk. It looked like an after school hang out. When I asked about getting into a room or maybe some food , the answer was nasty and rude. If you do no have to do not use this hospital read more

The nursing staff and aides are great, but avoid their nurse practitioners. I was admitted with Covid, pneumonia, out of control blood sugar, etc. and was told by the nurse practitioner (Madonna) that I didn't meet their criteria to stay in the hospital. I was sent home with absolutely no medication. My PCP is now telling me that I should be in the hospital and if things don't improve within a few hours that I need to be re-admitted. read more

Horrible stay. Nurses absolutely do not care like they used to years ago. The young ones especially. They act entitled and unfriendly and bothered. And what exactly do PCAs do? My husband was there for 9 days and the one and only thing they did for him was check blood sugar. No baths or even the offer (I did that), no clean sheets (I did that), no water or ice (I did that), urinals never emptied (I did that), taking a walk (I did that). So again I ask what do they do? Mostly walk around doing nothing or sitting at a computer doing nothing. If there tital is PCA = patient care assistant, what's wrong with this picture? I'm not making their pay but I did their job. And the kicker is the astronomical bill we're going to get but couldn't even get basic nursing care. Very sad. I will never ever go back there or have a family member there. Very dirty. Went this morning to have my yearly labs drawn, which I have done for the last 10 years at Mercy. My insurance has not changed in the last 3 years and I have a zero copay for wellness labs. However, after a drawn out check in period of at least 30 minutes I was told I would need to pay $717 for my labs. I told the check in specialist that was not correct--this is covered under my wellness benefit. He said my insurance must have changed and they are requiring a copay now. He said "I did everything right--this is not my fault". I left without having them drawn. I called Anthem--it is covered under my wellness benefit and either Mercy now charges upfront until the insurance responds or it was entered under the wrong code. I am going to Labcorp in the morning. read more

My son has been to Mercy several times for alcohol related issues. He has gotten so bad that he sometimes drinks hand sanitizer. He had a seizure and the squad to him to emergency. They put him in a room, and he seemed very out of it. When I went to take him some things the next eve. they said oh he is released he can go with you. He was extremely drunk - they had left a huge bottle of hand sanitizer in the bathroom. Which he had been drinking all day. When I told them this - I got a shoulder shrug. They released him and basically indicated that he was my problem now. I generally think they do a good job - but they really dropped the ball on this one. Very Upset Mom! read more

If I could give them a neg rating I would. Mom came in for a stroke. Atrial fibrillation. After a...surprise...covid shot.no previous history. The echo tec wasn't just having a bad day, she was horribly BRUTUAL to my mom. Taking it out on her that she had to stay over to get moms echo done. She complained about staff while slinging my mom around on the table. Mom said she was hurting her and she pressed down harder every time while complaining about staff and doctors. This woman NEEDS FIRED. They lost a pill in her bed, didnt chart it or reissue it. At shift change the nurse caught this. Then she had an event where her heart rate spiked to 180 and they started the afib meds early. Here is the fun part. Her iv for afib meds was NEVER STARTED. HUNG BUT NEVER RAN. Neither was her saline solution. And they didnt catch this till FIVE HOURS LATER. She could have had another stroke to do uncontrolled afib. That was serious af. That med was supposed to be ran because they suspected mom was having another stroke. Chest pains. Dizzy the whole nine yards!!!! Night shift nurse was an absolute angel. A total professional. Gabbie deserves a raise, a promotion and needs to be cloned. Total professional and treated my mom like a queen. Very patient and took her time with mom. Never once made her feel bad for pushing the button. Thank you gabbie. Mercy, hire more nurses and quit using floaters who are only after a paycheck and aren't invested in the community and patients well being!!!!! read more

This is one reason I don't come to Mercy. My husband was brought to the ER today. I tried 4 times to contact that department to find out their policy about having a family member coming in with them. Came to the ER regarding my blood pressure ( stage 2 hypertension) instead of brushing it off because I'm young 22 years old, I had a lady who was an MD get my tests and talk to me, went it and came out within 2 hours, and got prescribed the appropriate medication. Already feeling much better, had no idea blood pressure could affect someone that way! I've been the mercy Fairfield for kidney problems and other issues previously, I've seen plenty of bad, but this doctor/lady was incredible, she seemed to care about what she was doing, as well as resolving the issues quickly, hopefully this post reaches her. This is the worst emergency room I have ever been in. They treat the waiting room as a triage area and take you back and forth from taking vital signs then back to the waiting room with people vomiting next to you. If you are there for an injury, you will probably be sick when you leave. Also, I should mention that I was walking past empty room after empty room in the emergency department during my several trips for vitals and scans. By the way if you are as dumb as I am and believe the crap they tell you and you are covered under Medicare after they mislead you about your condition, put you in a room for five hours with no care and the first person to speak with you informs you that you owe $1,300.00 right then for treatment. After telling them how sad I thought they were to deceive me about my condition in order to try to force some unnecessary tests on me, I found out that they billed and received Medicare payments of almost $10,000.00 for five hours in a room with no care. If you care about your loved ones take them to any other area hospital for care and avoid this place at all cost. read more

I do not recommend Mercy Hospitals at all, based on personal experience; but I had two experiences with immediate family members in the past few days, one at Mercy West and the other today at Mercy Fairfield that solidify my belief that no one should take their loved ones there. Today I received a call that my elderly parent was at Fairfield in the emergency having suffered a major burn on her hand. By the time I arrived, she had been treated and released. I requested to speak to the Dr.. A nurse practitioner responded. He was rude, abrasive and dismissive. My parent had a burn that covered the entire top of her hand. They had sloppily wrapped it and sent her on her way. When I inquired about her care, he reluctantly answered my questions, repeatedly stating we told her... I explained that I needed to assist with her care so he hurriedly answered questions and sent me away. I immediately contacted the burn unit of another hospital that informed me that they would have drained the burn and properly treated it. Mercy didn't drain her wound, but left the massive bubble in place and sent her away. The huge bubble burst in their lobby after they sloppily wrapped it and sent her away. They didn't retreat the burst burn bubble. The entire wrapping came off of her hand quickly. The burn unit can't get her in until Monday, so I went to Walgreens and consulted with a nurse practitioner who took the time to explain all of the different supplies that I needed to protect the hand from getting an infection, over the weekend, which based on the size of the wound, is a huge risk. Mercy Fairfield did not treat her with antibiotics; did not give her antibacterial ointment for the burst burn bubble; and did not give her pain medication. The wrapping Mercy applied looked so bad that it appeared a child put it on. It was so unprofessional that it needed to be immediately rewrapped. The fact that I had to immediately consult another facility to determine how to treat my parent's burn upon leaving, based on their poor care, poor treatment and poor bedside manners speaks volumes as to how lousy they are. I am very disappointed and am most certain that the bill will not be reflective of the horrible service my parent received. read more

I've had both of my babies here and I'm about to have my third baby and let me just tell you, I've had the best experiences! it was great! The nurses were so personable and made me feel comfortable. No issues anywhere, other than the fact that when I was 4 1/2 centimeters dilated with my second baby, they sent me home because my contractions weren't close enough but they were STRONG. I came back 2 days later and I was 6 cm ready to have a baby. I had my baby 3 hours later. Other than that, great experience! read more

Terrible service all staff. I came through the ER I had a terrible car accident me and my dad. They had no rooms for us and they took my dad to the waiting room without even checking on him first. I'm pregnant so they got me one room and I had to wait for hours and one of the nurse try to force me to sign a paper to have some X-rays done wish I refused to. I was afraid that this X-rays could hurt my baby. The nurse had the humor to tell me that they will not let me go if I don't get that done. The male ER doctor refuse to help me mistreated me and diagnosed me until I came back again with my symptoms life threatening then agreed he misdiagnosed me I was admitted then once I was there for a day and the ICU center I was mistreated and basically pushed out the door and not helped whatsoever I came back hours later trying to continue the treatment I was told I needed and the same male ER doctor I heard him talking to another nurse telling me basically f****** he gave me his chance and would not allow me to continue the treatment the doctor above him told him necessary was a black man with a African accent I was supposed to say in the hospital for 5 days and get treatment on my organs that were shutting down the ER doctor refused to see me and would not help me again and let me continue my treatment to save my life he is the primary doctor in the ER I have been going there since I was 15 years old and he works there constantly I heard him intentionally tell one of the nurses f****** I had my chance you only get so many swings at the plate and refuse to treat me and help me to save my life so he's playing god with life refusing two treat me now the ER doctor mis diagnosed me once I came back Days later almost dead finally admitted me then when I came back he refused to see or treat me again and said to his closest head of staff f*** him he had his chance let him die what type of hospital treats patients who are coming there trying to save their life that way I tried coming back hours after leaving with the same issue twice and was refused help by those same doctors knowing my health issues and problems also I was never disrespected or combative I was uncomfortable and not pleasant but I never disrespected or offended anyone there and that's the treatment I got from your mail ER doctor and your primary nurse in the ICU center all this is on tape documented I even had a camera in my room to document me Adam was in the ICU center with me it's obvious I woke up to someone going through my pockets and searching me in the middle of the night and then proceeding to make me take a piss test and basically kick me out of the hospital obviously pushing me two leave I hope I look at the tapes u have a bad ER doctor an a bad nurse working there read more

I took my wife to the ER, and she spent 4 days being treated for COPD. From the start in the ER, throughout to her release, the staff treated her with professionalism and caring. Quick treatment in the ER makes a great impression, allaying her fears and relieving her pain. The caring doctors and nurses on tower 3 made her stay as comfortable as could be. We appreciate their kindness and great care. read more

I had a UTI (found that out a month later after going to another ER after I had another episode) & they told me they weren't sure and I got told I had "abdominal pain" duh. I was in horrible pain. I went on my records when I got my urine results & saw things weren't looking right. I called.. took me like 20 years to even get someone on the line. The initial interview with all my symptoms to help doctors diagnose my condition was not shared with me and was totally a fabrication. She was not listening. Information is not shared with patient period as if we are objects. I was not diagnosed after 30 or so tests for which I could get no cost . We are objects without the right to know what is going on. I made an agreement with Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio to pay down the portion of my hospital bill that was not covered by insurance. At the time I made the agreement it was clear that the debt would take 18 months to clear. Mercy made no mention that they would turn my account over to collection even if I made payments as agreed. Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio knew the debt would not be paid in a year. I have been making the payments has agreed upon for almost a year. Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio just turned my account over to a collection agency out of Texas. The reason given was that my account had aged to where it triggered referral to a collection agency. As far as I am concerned Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio in was dishonest in making their agreement with me I will continue to make the payments as I have promised but will have to take a hit on my credit report because of their dishonest business practices. Terrible service in the weightloss management. Not the nurse staff but the doctors and program itself. 4 week wait to get to see a doctor. You could die of a heart attack before then. They also changed the program, again. I went through it once and lost a lot of weight when it was all product then slowly back on food. The only program that ever worked for me. Then a couple years later wamted go back. Don't want the surgery to risky and invasive. Just the product they sell was all I needed before. Used to be if you went through the program and were on maintenance you could buy product as needed and attend the groups if you wanted once on maintenance. Now you have to see the doctor to get the product and you have a 4 week wait. Honestly you can get the same product on line for the same or cheaper price delivered to your house. read more

Mercy Hospital is amazing, staff has saved my life more than once, literally. Great heart doctors and facilities. No hospital is perfect every time. Lots of improvements made over the years, and I've always found the staff friendly and ready to help. I'm not one to expect perfection from doctors or hospitals--they are people and collections of people. I keep a very close eye on everything done and ask lots of questions. Then do my homework. All in all I've been very happy with Mercy, the doctors, nurses, and all staff. Be confident when you go to Mercy Fairfield. And educate yourself & don't be afraid to challenge your doctors. I went in at 8pm on a wednesday night because i was having a miscarriage. they weren't that busy. i waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half before they had a room for me to go to. once i got in my room the doctors took a while before coming in. when they came in, they told me what was happening and the doctor seemed shocked that i was crying. he said it with no sympathy in his voice. like it was just another day to him. once he left i waited another 2 hours in my room. still bleeding from my miscarriage, no nurse offered a pad or anything to protect my clothing from the blood. i didn't see anyone the whole 2 hours i was waiting. my fiancé went and asked what was taking so long and they said they had to call an ultrasound tech in but they will send a nurse to my room. another hour goes by without a nurse. no pad. nothing. hit the nurses button, no response. he went out again and they sent her in. she would barely step foot in my room and told me that the ultrasound tech had 5 other ultrasounds to perform. (i thought they had to call one in?) once he came in i was wheeled to the ultrasound room. the ultrasound itself took an hour. he was silent. couldn't and wouldn't tell me what he was looking at. mislead me to believe i heard a heartbeat and had a chance that i was wrong. got back to my room and waited another 30 minutes before the doctor came in to tell me they couldn't tell what was happening with no sympathy yet again. when he left a different nurse came in my room because my nurse was "too busy". finally got a pad after i asked (it wasn't offered) at the very end after bleeding through my clothes already. i didn't leave until 1am after getting there at 8pm. This hospital has made me feel neglected and alone while going through the process of losing my baby. they ignored me multiple times and made me feel unimportant. before i left they said "i hope you feel better" with the cheeriest tone. and the worst part? they didn't even give me an answer. i will never recommend this place and will never return. i hope this place is shut down.
