I had to take out one of the pieces, as 3 is just too much personally. I would say, outside of the herb sauce, and the prosciutto I really am not sure why it's $18. That's threw me off a bit. Do I think it's worth the money? Not necessarily, but I would go back with friends to try it all again. The service was okay, we were not checked on a whole lot. I had to remind her about a sauce I wanted. Mind you the restaurant wasn't busy, so that was kind of meh. However when at our table she was very kind and helpful! I knew when I saw Lil Wayne behind the bar at Mercy Kitchen that I was gonna like this place. Can we talk about the freaking decor here??!! It is just absolutely STUNNING. There is no place like it anywhere in Lafayette. Good luck concentrating on your dining companions because you will be so busy checking out the funky vibe you might get accused of ignoring them. Oops. I mean just everywhere you look there's something spectacular to see. Not only in the restaurant but outdoors as well-there's a oh so instagrammable (is that a word?) truck outside on the patio complete with a DISCO BALL y'all. I just love a disco ball. Not only that, taking a nod from Nola, Mercy turned the restaurant into a house float for Mardi Gras. That's a first in Lafayette and hopefully a trend that catches on in a big, big way here. We were looking for lunch after a busy morning, and decided on Mercy Kitchen which was a first for us. Nice space for parking, which was nice. Inside was warm and inviting, as we were greeted and sat quickly, you have a choice of regular seating, or seating in the bar area. The iced tea was refreshing and had a good flavor, the mock cocktail midnight Gucci was amazing. I had the shareable steak and frites, and the sweet potato frites were great along with the skirt steak, which was very flavorful, the mercy burger was really delicious, the beef the tomatoes, and sauce compliments each other, we chose the Mac and cheese with this, so creamy, cheesy and noodles had a nice chew. Everything ghat we have tried was so deliciously flavorful and all had different homemade accompanying sauces/butters that fit so we'll with the food. Presentation was great. The charcuterie tray was presented to our table with a solid pink sea salt board from the Himalayas I believe but may be wrong. Rubbing the meats upon the surface imparted a mild salty taste. This place has heavy Magazine Street vibes which I love - no other spot in Lafayette looks like it. It's very cute in that regard, and which is why I gave it an extra star... Well, I will also say that my drink was the best part. Forgot the name but it had this orange flavored foam which was so good...and it was STRONG. I'm not sure what happened, but the food was just not great the day I went. The beef and polenta...not bad but the meat was salty and a little dry. I had the Shrimp Salad...it was just okay. A bit heavy on the strawberry vinaigrette which was a bit much since there's also dried cranberries, hated eating it in a bowl instead of a plate. Also tasted my friends salad and didn't love that. Not a thing really stood out for me (except the drinks). I'm sure things will get better. It is otherwise the type of eclectic environment that I love and is close to my house. The barkeep made recommendations as to what she regarded as the best sides to go with my take out burgers. She was right. The hot-honey dipping sauce went perfectly with the fried sweet potatoes. The Swiss and Mushroom (the S&M) burger was the best I'd ever eaten from what I recall after over 60 years of burger experience. The perfectly cooked beef tasted fresh, was accompanied by nicely melted Swiss cheese and a couple of slices of thick, well-smoked bacon. I love the red wine and the cocktails. Now on to the food. I ordered the short rib polenta and the hangover salad. The burger on the salad was giving me very much burger king and not in the good way. I told the waitress I was fine with a medium cooked burger but lo and behold I bite into a charred mess. The inside of the burger was edible at least but tasting 'burntness' throughout my meal wasn't particularly pleasant. Other aspects of the salad was decent though like the avocado, sauce and fries. Open Mondays! My two best girls and I came out for lunch and drinks last Monday, the Christmas decor I saw pics of has since been put away but their decor is fun, eclectic style. I tried two different drinks off of their drink menu, the mercy-lago which looked different than I imagined but was delicious and the seasonal cotton headed ninny muggins that was cute to boot but I hated it.
