Our server, Kate, was outstanding. She was friendly, attentive, and gave us excellent recommendations. She suggested the pork chop, and it ended up being the star of the meal. The pork chop was cooked perfectly. It was juicy, incredibly tender, and honestly tender enough to cut with a fork. It had a great char from the grill that added so much flavor, and the pickled peppers on top cut through the richness of the pork perfectly. The dirty rice underneath reminded me of my mom's rice dressing and soaked up all the juices from the chop. It was one of the best pork chop dishes I've had. My wife ordered the smoke fried chicken, and it was also excellent. The crust was crispy while the chicken stayed juicy and flavorful. The sweet potato biscuits were light and delicious, and the pepper honey tied everything together nicely. For my taste, it leaned just a little on the sweet side, but it was still a very enjoyable dish. My daughter ordered the Social Cheeseburger with just meat and cheese. She loved it, and I was impressed too. Even with such a simple order, the burger was juicy, well seasoned, and served on a fantastic bun. She and my wife both could not stop talking about the hand cut fries. They were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and some of the best fries we've had in a while. This is one of my Wife and I's top 5 favorite places in Louisiana. Their menu as far as apps and main dishes go can fluctuate. More specifically their flatbreads and loaded fries, which I do not currently see on their website. Most of the time they have loaded fries which in the past have consisted of gravies and sauces. One preparation we ordered came with pickled okra. The fried green tomatoes are also very good, especially to start with or share. As far as main dishes go we have tried the following: All Hail Caesar (Flatbread) Spicy Chicken Sandwich Smoke Fried Chicken-N-Biscuits Social Cheeseburger The Mac n Cheese is a must get as a side in my opinion. For my main, I went with the roasted chicken. It was edible, but far from memorable. The skin wasn't crispy--instead, it was gooey and unappetizing. It's a pretty basic dish, and honestly, stores like Costco and HEB manage to get it right daily, even after sitting under heat lamps, so it's disappointing to see it fall short here. On the bright side, the decor was stylish, the drinks were excellent, and the service was decent. Not a bad spot, but definitely room for improvement. read more

What a treat! Social Southern was spectacular, and -- so help me God, I'll be back! The Yelpers have spoken, it's delicious, and the hubs and I decided to give it a whirl only to be completely smitten with the flavors, innovative menu options, and the delicious cocktails. Hands down one of the best brunch spots in Lafayette. This cute restaurant is adorable. From the decor to the wait staffs uniforms, the ambiance is unmatched. Every time I visit this restaurant I order the fried chicken with biscuits. This dish comes with every part of the chicken (thigh, breast, leg, and wing). The flavor is divine. It has a slight upscale/fancy vibe to it, and that was evident by the menu choices. Honestly I didn't even look at the menu prior to making a reservation lol. I saw the reviews and was sold... We ordered the honey biscuits, crab nachos, chicken sandwich, salmon, and steak. All were pretty good. My salmon was good but I wasn't too crazy about the hominy corn. It lacked flavor. The biscuits were really good! The crab "nachos" were okay, a bit fishy. Website says the bar closes at 12 on Saturdays but they really close at 10. Service was good. While visiting Lafayette, Louisiana, for a conference, I took a Uber ride from my hotel to Social Southern. Upon arrival around 1:00 p.m., there was no wait. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was excellent. My server was attentive and available to answer all my questions. I ordered the social cheeseburger and truffle fries. One of the best burgers I've ever tasted, hands down. The truffle fries were also delicious, and I dipped them in the spicy mayo sauce. I know it probably doesn't sound appetizing, but it was. Along with my meal, I ordered a sparkling cosmo (actually 2), and it was just as delicious as the meal. I witnessed tonight the rudest hostess here at this restaurant to a couple. She refused to sit this couple at one of the three open tables in the restaurant. Then had an attitude with head bobbing and snarky comments. We started with the Cast Iron Gulf Tuna, which made me do a literal happy dance in my chair. Just thinking about it has me drooling again! The tuna was cooked to perfection and all of the flavors were perfectly complementary. For entrees, I had the Gulf Fish of the Day and my boyfriend got the Fire Roasted Yardbird. My fish was served with sautéed purple cauliflower, turnips, pickled onions, and more. It was fantastic.
