Stay away from them. They are the worst of the worst. You will get minimal, if any legal help. Their business model is exploiting the emotionally distraught. Their intake department will solicit you to become a client. They will pretend to be so nice. They will market themselves, telling you how they know everything there is to know about divorce and how they will get you thru this challenging time like no one else can. Once you sign up, you are not allowed to talk to intake. You will be assigned a lawyer who is a legal lightweight, and a trainee lawyer, and a trainee paralegal. That's right, you will have a 3-person team whose only interest is to bill you. They are keen to know every cent you have, and every bit of credit you have. While you are thinking total disclosure, they are thinking how many assets you have so they can bill you. They will run up tens of thousands of dollars in discovery, when it only consists of you and your spouse exchanging bank account information. For the slightest administrative task like eyeballing a half page email, you might get charged the paralegal's hourly rate if only the paralegal eyeballed it. If both your attorney and the paralegal eyeballed it, you get charged both their hourly rates. The paralegal's hourly rate is between $200.00 and $300.00. So, you can imagine what the attorney's hourly rate is. The bills come every two weeks unless you are on the flat fee model. So, you can see how the costs add up. Even if you haven't heard from them in weeks, you will get billed hundreds or thousands of dollars. They will claim they were discussing your case among themselves. To talk to your lawyer, you must schedule a 15-, 30-, or 60-minute meeting via phone, zoom, or in person. It will often take 3 - 4 weeks to get on your attorney's schedule. And a 15-minute meeting, even if you only have a 2-minute question, is going to cost you the attorney's sky-high hourly rate. And these are typically not good attorneys. If you choose to email instead, the attorney will charge hundreds of dollars just for eyeballing the email. They demand payment of their ridiculously padded bills every two weeks. Their goal is to get you heavily invested in them financially while keeping you emotionally distraught, so that you are afraid to let them go. They show very little interest in resolving your case. They only want to bill you for as much as they can for as long as they can. Run from these people. But if you make the mistake of hiring them, fire them immediately after the first time they pull this type of thing on you, because they won't get better. NEVER HIRE M&T! No Exception. This company is structured in a way like corporate america to use you as a money printing machine, and that you are just a client, nothing more. Mr. Kelly Case worked on my case and ever understood anything about the context of my case. I found out later (from later) that M&T failed to disclosed important information that are most relevant to the case years later. I later found out that Mr. Case and the opposing attorney were friends (they knew each other); and right in the middle of mediation, he told me that it would cost me about $100K more to bring my case to trial. A few days later I reached out to M&T and asked them if I can have another attorney who could represent better than Mr. Case; A few days later he filed motion to withdraw from my case on a the basis that I had a balance of $1.5K, and yet they have ate of $60K+ already. They never called me or post mailed anything (just email) to bring up the important matter. A few months later I found out that Mr. had moved back to Houston, TX (From Atlanta), through internet research and from an attorney I later hired. This company is going to scam you and dont give a shit about you. If you want a good lawyer, lookup a family law lawyer in your area, dont go to a big firm like this one. Mr. Case (also M&T) never take the time to understand your case. Their money making tactic is to represent for as much clients as possible and drag the "cases" for as long as possible. Don't use this law firm. Here are my reasons: 1) They are too expensive. They immediately take $5k retainer. That's just the beginning of things, folks. 2) They do not communicate well/keep you in the loop on what's going on. 3) One hand does not speak to the other. I get an email or a phone call every other week (if that) from someone else I've never heard of. Each time I have to start over with explaining what I've uploaded to their sharepoint - she will ask for a document/question and I'll have to tell her I've already uploaded it or will remind her I've already talked to someone else about that topic. 4) Meanwhile, the "lawyer" who's supposed to be handling my case (which I paid a premium per hour price for) is somewhere down in SAVANNAH opening a new office!! I got a consultation from a lawyer named Pat, which was really great. She gave me really great advice and I was really looking forward to working with her. I was not assigned to Pat, but was assigned to Hope Reis. I did not receive any good advice and after $6000 I am still not divorced . I would not recommend Hope Reis or Sherry harden to work on any case. I looked into getting my money back but there was no guarantee and I had to put in our in hours and hours of more work. They are horrible!!!!! Can't even begin to explain the constant errors, malpractice and admitted mishandling of case...over the span of 2 years in what I was told was a "slam dunk dead beat dad case", since my ex refused to pay a single penny in child support and alimony in over 5 years (after refusing to follow the final decree and pay the back 3 months mortgage payments to keep house out of foreclosure), I was told that it would be between $3500 and "up to $6or $7K "depending on how much discovery and forensic accounting was needed"...the fact that he wouldn't ever even reply or supply any records should have led to an immediate hearing where he should have been incarcerated if he didn't start complying...instead after constant errors in every single order, conversation, attorneys quitting, getting married, etc...he was given 2 years of time, chances, constant emails giving him more and more chances to turn in discovery (so they could bill me for the emails where they didn't even once ask him for any of the child support) instead of using his noncompliance to prove his blatant contempt, they just kept giving him more continuances and never once making a case for me and my kids who hadn't received a penny in over 5 years!!!! They never asked him or his attorney to pay a dime for 2 years...but just kept bulling me upward to THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!....for never getting to ever go before a judge and then after 2 years and 3 awful attorneys in this firm including the "owner" that took over and said she would make it right and there was no excuse for the way my case had been handled after being settled for Pennie's on the dollar in some 5 min backroom secret pretrial that I knew nothing about while we waited in court the entire day for my attorney to even show up...then was told about this insane deal she basically blackmailed me into by saying if I didn't sign it would be another $10K to even come back to fight it ...then when the owner took over and said I would never receive another bill (which part of the deal anyways was that I was told my ex would pay my attorney fees...also not true apparently!!!),...I continued getting billed and it just got even worse...they didn't even write down the joke of a figure that I was supposed to get (spread out over 5 years with zero interest btw!!! My attorney and team were great! Janet was well prepared and a very knowledgeable and experienced attorney. My only complaint were the fees and how I was double and triple charged for items. Like so many others have said, seems like all they are after is your money. No consideration given to the fact that you tell them you have a budget to work with. What should have been easily resolved, in my honest opinion, took entirely too long. I believe it is dragged out so both parties can milk their clients for more money. I don't know how anyone has given this firm anything other than a zero. My experience with this firm has been absolutely horrid. They changed my lawyer three times, they lost or just didn't file critical documents. During the hearing's my lawyer looked dumbfounded when asked for proof of very substantial issues. They failed to file there version of a final judgement when asked for by the court. Not doing so made the court accept my wife's version of the order. They charged me $88,000 to prepare documents they never even sent to the court. Now, I have had to hire an Appellate attorney to appeal my case to the Georgia Court of Appeals. Fortunately, one way to get your case taken up on appeal is to have an attorney who couldn't tie his own shoe laces representing you. If I have one piece of advice for anyone considering or already with them, my advice is to get out and get out fast. If they haven't screwed you yer, they will, the is what they do. Probably the worst possible experience I could have expected for my divorce proceedings. I had used merriweather and tharp LLC previously for a small matter one day and they were very responsive and therefore used them for my divorce. Big mistake. I gave my attorneys a budget of all the money I had to work with, and made it very clear that I was on a limited budget. Not once during the divorce did they look out for my financial interest in this way at all, not once did they say that we could review where we are and what we should do in the interest of staying in budget, not once did they offer any suggestions to make the proceedings less expensive. They simply kept working and billing more and more hours without ever addressing the elephant in the room, my budget which ran over by about $50,000. I at least expected to have an attorney that was well prepared but found myself wondering why they seem to be looking to me for some direction in the middle of Court proceedings as if they didn't have arguments well prepared and I should have written my own arguments to help them along. The results of my divorce in the end we're pretty bad, and I will be in debt for years to come because of it. I cannot in good conscience recommend this law firm to anyone. I felt lost in stacks of billable hours and what seemed to be a standard practice of don't ask don't tell regarding going over the client's budget. In the end I got far less than I should have from this divorce. If I had gotten a better decision from the judge, it still wouldn't excuse their lack of looking out for my financial best interest by holistically involving the budget with the decision making process of how far to go and what motions to present and how much to fight and how much is actually affordable. I am not 10k in the hole for a simple divorce and am currently still not divorced. I am a month behind on my payment to them and they have put a lien on my house. I have communicated with them that my ex has not paid alimony or child support the past month and I am barely keeping the lights on for myself and my kids and they can't be kind enough to help me out. I have paid them over 6k already but haven't as they say consistently paid the past month. I have communicated why and they are a top priority for payment but I have to feed my kids first. From what I'm told from friends that have been through divorce, they are not representing me well. I have to say i agree, but i cant afford a retainer fee for any other lawyer at this point. I understand lawyers are expensive and are a nessesity for divorce. But they should try to do right for their client, and this firm is not a firm that puts their clients needs ahead of their own. My ex-husband and I filed signed settlement agreement and parenting plans the day we filed our divorce papers. I had been a stay-at-home mom and he had agreed to support me for the 6 months it would take for me to finish my education. This was a private deal because we didn't want the court in our financial lives. Considering we divorced over cruelty issues, trusting him here was a big mistake on my part. Two weeks later when his son and I were literally surviving on rice for every meal, I filed a motion for Scrivnors Error for the alimony he had promised (I had his promise in writing). Even though I only filed for what he had promised, he interpreted as an act of war. Despite having excellent legal counsel (Joann Williams), you are truly at the mercy of the judge. Our hearing wasn't even for alimony, it was to determine whether our original Settlement agreement should be enforced. Sadly, our judge actually said on our hearing date that she didn't have time to listen to our legal arguements and we needed to work this out ourselves in the hall. We had filed a lot of paperwork before this hearing and had tons of evidence, but our judge refused to hear it; threatening us with "the axe" if we wasted her time. If she had read our case, there was no evidence of it. I am shocked that sometimes the legal system is so broken. Despite such a disheartening experience in court, I know without a doubt that Joann Williams represented me much better than anyone else would have. I am also confident that, with a different judge, our outcome would have been very different. Joann researched and well-documented everything. Lolita Beyah was my attorney but was absolutely terrible. My ex husband did not have an attorney and she acted as his at times. He agreed to give me the house outright and she put in the papers he was to get 30%. She never went over the papers, I had to proofread and catch it myself. She never went over any of the papers, I had to read it and try and interpret it myself. She stayed busy during our whole appointment and never once sat down with us. I caught the part about the house and questioned her about it, she said since he didn't have an attorney, it would look fishy to the judge and she "had to protect her name." She also had me making more than I do and my ex husband making less on the child support sheet. I pointed it out, and had to fight her to change that as well. Originally I was to get less than $200 for 2 kids, and I had to FIGHT my attorney for more, even though he was there and willing to sign corrected documents. My divorce was completely uncontested and they charged me thousands. I spent over a thousand just to fight her to fight for me, yes I was charged for that too. She stayed on the phone longer trying to give me personal advice, charged for that. I even had problems selling the house because of Lolita's failure to care about her clients. I got so screwed over in the divorce by my OWN attorney. Complaining won't do you any good, they'll say your divorce is complete "and we wish you the very best." I used to deliver to this office for years and had a good working relationship with these people, that means nothing. They got some documents for discovery, filed the divorce and scheduled mediation and that cost me $10,000 and this is a no fault divorce. RIP OFF. I did all of the work, I let them know that some of the discovery documents were fake and the documents were incomplete. I hate to post negative reviews, but this firm Really earned it. After spending a year and over $4000 to have my son's name changed which is suppose to be a simple legal matter, They withdrew from the case and still nothing has been done. They literally spent $4000 on emails on emails going back and forth and NOTHING was done. Very disappointed as this is my first experience with a law firm. They were completely useless, and could not get a name changed for a 7 year old child who has not met the absent parent. I should of read the reviews before hiring them. read more

Well...its been at least a year since i had my divorce with this company. Divorces are rge hardest, toughest times and this company or let me rephrase a few lawyers here and paralegal took this time as a money making time. They were horrible, representation was not the best as i am still finding things they should have advised otherwise. They did NOT do their job ...they tried to cherge me 20000 for an uncontested case ...if it was not for my scrutiny i would have been messed up. Run...go to the small practice forget abt large firms...they are more about billable hours ...my experience i would never recommend. Before you signanything with this law firm you need to research the definition of padding and tasking on your bills. This law firm charged my daughter 6 times to send . We were rushed due to the judge was ready to gog homea email. 1 time for a thought of sending an email, 2nd time - to type email, 3rd time for a conversation about email, 4th - 5th & 6th time for god knows what. There was no prep for court and court was in the middle of no where - No place to eat a decent meal and court went until 7:30pm with no food or water. Our attorney was not worth the $41,000.00 we were charged. If you are choosing an attorney for anything at all... DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OFFICE!!! You have a better chance defending yourself. This will not be the only review I put out in the world.I will write a letter to the Georiga Law Board and I am blasting this on every social media site I can find and share. If I save 1 (one) person from the finanical burden, emotional heartache, and the complete disappointment of the attorney who was paid an absurd amount of money to do nothing.
