Beef Kebab with 4 cold sides.

Beef Kebab with 4 cold sides. They were out of Shawarma when we called they must be that good! Ordered Beef Kebab with 4 cold sides , Chicken kebab white meat and schnitzel. The schnitzel was not the thin flat ones it's a little thicker a good flavour. The highlight was how good the cold dishes were as well super flavorful, Babaganoudh, eggplant, hummus with tahini and beet were excellent!

    1) They're really quick. We ordered at the counter, then sat down for like 7mins and were served something. 2) The falafels were super SOFT!!!!!! This was the first time I've ever had any, but my company said that they've never had it softer anywhere else! 3) Israeli salad was as fresh as can be. I REALLY liked it. 3) Coleslaw was v pickled! 4) Lamb skewers (medium well) came out to be medium - which was what we wanted! 5) The rice with was nice and fluffy. It went well with the meat oil/sauce/residue. 6) Tahini and Hummus were both super smooth. No complaints but it's also nothing too special, in my opinion. Apologies for my pictures not being too pretty this time around.. I got too excited to eat and forgot half way through!

Food was nice and filling. Quick like a fast food service type of thing. One thing I didn't like is that my baba ganoush was a tad watery and it tasted like mayonnaise the whole time I was eating my shawarma wrap. I like baba ganoush I just don't like mayonnaise in it. Other than that good service!

If you like middle eastern food you must try the food here. With Arabic food, sharing is the way to go. We ordered a few appetizers; hummus, fattoush, Greek salad, baba ghanoush (not pictured), tabouleh (not pictured). The reason I love going here is because of the appetizers, they remind me of how my mom and aunts make appetizers; in the traditional Iraqi way. The salads are zesty and sour, which is very typical of Iraqi cuisine but it's so delicious. The ingredients are all very fresh. I highly recommend trying the hummus and tabouleh, they're addictive. For our main meal we ordered a giant mixed platter with a bit of every meat (lamb chops, chicken souvlaki, beef schnitzel, chicken schnitzel, beef kebab tenderloin, Iraqi beef kebab). This was so delicious, everything was cooked perfectly. If you only want to try one meat I would highly recommend trying the lamb chops, I could easily eat 20 of those. The schnitzels are quite popular amongst kids, I remember ordering those all the time and they still taste as good as I remember them. And of course all the sides are amazing (especially the fries). For dessert we had tea and creme caramel, a great way to end the night. This place is awesome, we'll continue to go here especially for events (they sometimes bring DJs). The place is very clean as well (bathrooms are spotless).

My go-to place for my Middle Eastern comforts!…read more They make the best pita - thick and spongy and chewy - the way we like it. The salad take outs are solid. Never had a bad product here. Sababa in Thornhill doesn't chase trends--it outlives them. I've been eating here for 30 years,…read morewhich in restaurant time is basically surviving a war, and Sababa is still standing, still feeding people the way it always has: honest, soulful Middle Eastern food that shows up every day and does the job right. This is the kind of place where the menu hasn't been "reimagined," because it never needed to be. The chicken skewers dinner is a personal staple--charred just enough, juicy where it counts, seasoned with the confidence. The shawarma is famous for a reason: shaved hot, spiced deep, and piled without apology. You start with the dip platter because that's what you do here--hummus, tahini, baba ghanoush--the opening handshake before the real conversation begins. Attached to the restaurant is a grocery store that feels like a lifeline--shelves of hard-to-find ingredients, spices, and staples that remind you food isn't just something you order, it's something you live with. There's also a takeout counter with a few tables, perfect for quick eats that turn into longer stays because the food demands your attention. Sam Azar founded the place, and the legend goes deeper than the menu--he even made their lentil soup recipe public, giving it away to the newspapers like a gift, not a secret. That generosity still hangs in the air. Today, his children carry the torch, and you can feel the continuity: same spirit, same standards, same refusal to mess with something that works. Sababa isn't flashy. It's better than that. It's dependable, rooted, and quietly excellent--the kind of restaurant you measure your life around, not your Instagram feed. Find calm fam atmosphere, not TikTok madness with a side of chaos. CHEERS!!!

When we got there, we were left unattended for about 8 minutes or so with no one else in line. I get it, covid 19 times means lots of orders to attend to, no biggie. We placed our orders for 2 chicken shawarma plates. It turned out they charge a small fee for using credit cards. I'm not sure if this was something this establishment was doing prior to covid 19 since this was my first visit but you would think amidst this pandemic that a restaurant would discourage the use of cash altogether, but not this place. Mind you, the fee wasn't anything big but it was the principle that matters. Anyway, the food itself wasn't all that good. The chicken was dry, the potatoes were hard, the rice had this buttery taste and their version of the white garlic sauce was something out of a ranch salad dressing bottle. Also, the hot sauce they provided was from the Red Rooster bottles you would find in Asian grocery stores. I've never ever had this kind of hot sauce from a shawarma joint, lol. Definitely not coming back to this one!

The potatoes are okay but a little on the dry side. The chicken shawarma and lamb shish kebab came with a generous amount of meat and we were happy. The meals came with a hot sauce (small size) and a white creamy sauce (big size). I enjoyed the sauce but we ended up squeezing some lemon juice on our lamb to minimize the gamey taste. There was also salads that came along with the meals. I would say the chicken shawarma was better than the lamb. I think we probably would head back next time.
