I was grocery shopping nearby with my hubby, and about to head home when the cravings suddenly hit for shawarma. We passed so many places along the way, but couldn't figure out which one would be a hit or possibly even a miss. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect. My search just had me looking for a place that made fresh food, not a franchise chain, but a place with some great reviews. This is how we found Mister Laffa Shawarma House. Instantly when I walked in and saw the spit of juicy fresh chicken shawarma, I knew we found THE spot! We were greeted warmly when we walked in. 2 gentleman working, one making FRESH (OMG) laffa bread, and the other slicing up the chicken for the people ahead of us. The assortment of vegetables and sandwich wrap toppings were fresh, very cleanly arranged and set up. The juicy glistening chicken had me right away and I made a beeline to the counter to order. Hubby and I ordered 2 chicken shawarma plates. This came with the options of: Rice with lentils - wow this was so amazing - I make this at home myself, so I was super impressed! Salad options including tabbouleh and building your own with options including: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onions Fresh warm laffa bread - I could have eaten 2-3 of these myself (order a sandwich with this bread - you will not be disappointed!) Hummus Garlic sauce Tahini Coleslaw Onions with sumac Some of their options for sandwiches and plates include: Chicken Shish Kebab (dark or white meat) Beef Shish Kebab Lamb Shish Kebab Kefta Lamb Shish Kebab We stuck with salad and tabbouleh, hummus on the side, rice with lentils and garlic & tahini sauce. Each platter came with 1 laffa bread - we loved it so much they gave us 2 extra at no charge. The chicken was so fresh and full of flavour, dark meat that was juicy and not dry at all, the seasoning was perfection. Truthfully, this meal was so fresh and so good, that it tasted homemade. I took away 1 star for the hummus, tahini & garlic sauce. Hummus needed more garlic and lemon, garlic sauce the garlic was really suttle and a bit on the runny side and same with the tahini. Vaughan def has a lot of great shawarma options, that I am really looking forward to trying. The staff are always great. Food is consistently the best middle eastern cuisine in vaughan. Great area and super nice vibe inside.

The food is fresh and delicious, great selection of salads. The service is friendly and will accommodate your food preferences, like over cooking my friend's chicken! It's a casual vibe inside and gets pretty busy at lunch and dinner so I recommend ordering in the phone before you arrive or going a little before the rush. read more

Another shawarma joint in the area. The food here is pretty good. Over the years the prices have kept going up and the size of portions have kept going down. Overall, the food tastes great the quality of the food is good. Service is definitely a mixed bag where sometimes I come and they're really friendly and sometimes they seem to be too busy and it's just a big mad rush. Ambiance is a very typical quick service restaurant with a few tables and chairs and a takeout counter. There is no outline, decor or theme to the restaurant. Laffa (after which the store is named) is a Levantine flat bread. The sandwiches here come with laffa or pita - laffa is huge: much bigger than the pita, and only costs a bit more. Had the chicken shawarma on laffa. The meat was passable - while moist enough, it had no real fragrance and tasted ok. The sauces were pretty good, though the hot sauce was quite spicy. There was a wide range vegetables which were quite fresh and included Lebanese vegetables like tabbouleh. read more

Nice place for a quick bite. Ordered a chicken shawarma on a laffa. The laffa's here are fresh made and so your whole wrap is toasty and warm. Lots of fresh toppings to choose from. Larger than your average shawarma but somewhat more expensive. I would still say good value for your dollar. I would recommend. read more

While it is THE place for shawarma, their shish kebabs and salads are also excellent - juicy meat, excellent flavour, and superb presentation. I want to tell about the miss service I got by Hassan. I have been a devoted customer for years and recently I had 3 bad experiences ( showing how devoted I was and giving a second and third chance ) and I complained to Hassan all three times. He kept telling me I need to go get checked while he would not admit to having a problem or needing to self check his own kitchen. So now after being shameless guided out of the restaurant he tells me to go get checked and I don't want to eat there again. So Hassan I will definitely won't come back and I recommend everyone who cares about his stomach not go there. He could have prevent this review by politely say I understand and I'll do in house check up and offer some sort of compensation, but he chose not to. To sum it all up he gets zero for food and zero for customer service. read more

Good little spot in Thornhill, I have been taking out from this store for over two years, and never had the chance to actually sit and dine in, due to the small and limited space.. Food is good and kind of average with the other similar restaurants in the area. Kind of a smaller menu though, It would be good to add some additional items. My favourite is the chicken schnitzel and the bbq beef, they serve their plates and wraps with the Laffa, so this is just wonderful! Hassan who is the owner/manager of the restaurant does a great job in keeping the place alive and the menu up to standards, he has great customer service skills and a talent in the kitchen. I read the reviews of the guys before me and I wonder if that's the same establishment. I been here countless times and had most things on the menu and still never had a bad experience or mediocre one. It's a smallish place so the service is not super fast but the food is authentic, fresh and delicious. Was in the area and needed to get takeout for dinner. Ordered the chicken shawarma, which came with a side salad and rice. The portions were very generous, but I thought the taste was a little off - someone mentioned that a lot of cumin was used so maybe that was it. Great portion sizes and with enough leftovers for lunch the next day! :) We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and the chicken shish-kabob. The kabob was made fresh in front of us although it was slightly burnt and I think they forgot to season it. Other then that, the rest of the meal was quite nice. I just moved into the area and have eaten at mister laffa a few times, they have Amazing food, great service and great prices! When you walk in it doesn't look like much, but mister Laffa is one of the best places in the area for kebabs, shawarma and laffa wraps! It had so much POTENTIAL...but we were very disappointed. The food was ok considering there are so many similar dining options in the neighbourhood. The service was atrocious. Our server forgot about our order and after 30m we had noticed that other tables were getting their food and we weren't. We pointed this out and received no apology or empathy from the staff. It was obvious that the staff did not how to handle what was a busy friday evening. No compensation was offered. I recommend Sofra over this establishment any day! read more

When any establishment uses Cumin generously it means the food is questionable. Mister Lafta uses it too generously. When I asked why they add so much the waitress shrugged her shoulder and smiled. I didnt even want my family to eat the chicken after tasting it. Tabulli didnt have tomatoes. Humus and fries were okay. Definitely not going again. Guys, I don't know about all the haters, but this place was AWESOME! The laffa was delicious and freshly made right before our eyes, all of the salads and fixins were fresh and tasty, and of course, the shawarma was great! Not to mention, for $10, I can't imagine getting more food - our shawarmas were HUGE! One of the people in our party got the chicken kabob dinner, which included 2 large skewers with a bunch of chicken, a big portion of rice, and a salad or fries (we got the salad). Meat was very tasty and the salad had a great dressing. Overall, it was a good entree, probably big enough to share, but the price was a little steep at $18. Of course we got the baklava, which is freshly made, and it was also super tasty. Not to chewy or too sweet. I would get it again! This was definitely a fast-casual atmosphere and it's great for take out, but if you have time, I recommend eating there so that your food is hot and delicious. Ordered a shawarma in laffa and a falafel pita. The shawarma was over cooked, over dry meat and the laffa fell apart. I had to use a fork to eat it. The falafel was really not good - dry and not freshly prepared. The guy behind the counter used pre-made falafel balls that felt like they were there a long time. Also the falafel mix was very dense - definately mixed with flour or something that's not chickpea. Texture like cardboard. I never had a falafel I didn't like until I ate this one. Very disappointed. Next time I get a craving for falafel or shawarma I'm going to go to a different place - lots of good places in the area. read more

Everything is a-ok! Mister Laffa's was recommended to me by a coworker who lives in the area. I visited one evening and found the atmosphere to be a bit odd. Seems like there was a dispute between the business and a customer as there was a police woman inside taking notes of the situation. This doesn't hinder my rating - sh*t happens, I get it. I ordered a chicken shawarma salad to go. The chicken was a touch dry but still flavourful. The shreds were small, little pieces of chicken shrapnel was scattered atop my salad. There wasn't a shortage of bird on this meal. I asked for turnips and other pickled things, tabouleh, hummus, lettuce, tomato, eggplant, maybe cucumber and topped with drizzled tahini. They were running low on tabouleh so I got the last few scoops. Because of this shortage, the lady told me to get "whatever I like", so I did. Then my salad cost me $15... I still paid and ate and was content. But the price threw me off and I wished there was more tabouleh! read more

Absolutely love this place. I've had the shawarma, falafel, hummus, beef and chicken kebabs, but the star is the laffa. Mister Laffa earns his name by making his laffas cooked as you order in a traditional tabun oven. The laffas are crispy on the outside with a nice soft interior texture. Everything he uses is house made. Sure you can get the same type of food cheaper elsewhere but I think it's worth paying a little more for quality. read more

We love our middle eastern cuisine so soon after Mister Laffa opened we decided to try it out. Big disappointment. The only thing we enjoyed was the rice and lentils and hot sauce. The chicken shawarma was bland. The laffa was average. The dips were awful. Especially the eggplant dip. It was a saucy mess with very little actual eggplant. I would recommend Sofa Grill over this any day, if you're looking for tasty middle eastern food. The service also left much to be desired. Staff could be friendlier. read more

Pros: All the food tastes really good. Good location and menu. They make the laffa fresh and right in front of you. The schnitzel & shawarma is amazing, I definitely recommend it. Overall, it's a great place. Cons: The Caesar salad isn't that great, quantity over quality. The lettuce is too thin (isn't crunchy), doesn't have real slices of cheese, the dressing is too thick and not spread evenly (clumps of sauce in the lettuce), and no croutons. I read the reviews about this place and even though they were not great I decided to try it for myself because I love Mediterranean food and always looking for a good falafel or Shawarma. I got the lamb Shawarma, it's a mix of lamb and beef, it was very good, flavored nicely and the hummus and salads were fresh and delicious too. I was pleasantly surprised when I was asked at the end if I wanted a Turkish coffee and baklava as a free desert. Free. I love that too. read more

The laffa is very nice (fresh and tasty) and the chicken shwarma and falafel are decent. Overall salads are decent, but nothing special. Mainly had positive experience with servers. This fast food self serve restaurant has unaffordable prices. Simple chicken shish-kabob lunch take out plate was $19+tax + tips which makes my lunch just under $24. Tips are optional at self serve but I always leave about $10%. Not sure about the quality of food, I cancelled the order. Restaurant prices have to match restaurant rating and services.
