I would've been fine with just accepting that they're appointment based for the day off the simple fact that when I called someone answered!! He was patient with my request and not dismissive because I didn't have an appointment. The vibe is definitely simple and straight to the point which I like. No sheep in wolves clothing. I waited no longer than the time he asked me to wait and got my cut by a professional who made sure to clean his hands and equipment before event seeing me, with great customer service and to be honest the same amount of talent as the barbers at "the groomsmen of Long Island". So if you ask me, I would rather spend my hard earned money here than anywhere I have to worry about a barber lacking customer service and also becoming threatening to a female. Other than that, I consistently paid premium prices and trusted this salon (specifically Eleanor). Last month, I brought my daughter in for a keratin treatment. Both Eleanor & the owner clearly explained that it was not 100% guaranteed to get her hair to be straight and that it's a process that requires maintenance. I understood the risk & agreed to proceed. Eleanor spent about 2 hours on my daughter's hair and the cost was $200 + tip which I willingly paid. After one wash, her hair returned completely to its original frizzy state. I took photos & called to speak with Eleanor--not to ask for a refund, but simply to understand what happened and discuss a possible solution. Instead, I was met with unpleasantness, unprofessional attitude & defensiveness. Eleanor said, "I spent 2 hours on my feet doing your daughter's hair & we told you it's not guaranteed." I calmly repeated that I wasn't asking for my money back--just an explanation or guidance. I never called back again to discuss the keratin treatment because I felt she was so defensive and they will not offer me any other solution. A week later, when I called to book my usual root color appointment, I was told--after checking Eleanor's availability--that I was no longer welcome at the salon. After 7 years of loyalty and spending a significant amount of money, this is how I was treated for simply asking a question. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and respect for long-term clients is extremely disappointing. I do not recommend this hair salon to anyone. Their customer service and sense of loyalty to long-term clients are far below what you would expect from a professional business.

I scheduled an appointment online for a wash and blow-dry, with the advertised price clearly listed as $38. Upon arriving for my 12:00 PM appointment with my two young daughters, I greeted the two male employees at the front desk. Neither acknowledged my greeting. When I informed them that I had an appointment, one responded in an aggressive tone, asking "For what?!" I clarified that it was for a wash and blow-dry. He then demanded "How many?!" and when I said it was just one appointment, he loudly instructed me to "Go wash!" while pointing toward the back. As this was my first visit, I asked for clarification, and only then did a female employee approach me. The female staff member asked to see my hair, as I was wearing a head covering. My natural hair texture is soft, manageable, and would not take longer than thirty minutes to wash and blow-dry. However, upon viewing my hair, she immediately stated that the cost would be $100--more than double the advertised price. When I asked why my service would cost $100 when the posted rate was $38, she replied that "this type of hair" required that charge. At no point on the website or during booking was it indicated that pricing was "starting at" $38 or that texture-based surcharges applied. I refused the discriminatory upcharge and chose not to proceed with the service. I have attached both a copy of my booking confirmation and a photo of my hair for reference, to illustrate how unreasonable the $100 charge was. In addition to the blatant price discrimination, the staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and the premises smelled strongly of cigarette smoke--further reflecting the lack of professionalism. This conduct is unacceptable. It reflects racially discriminatory business practices and constitutes false advertising. I will be pursuing further action, including filing a civil complaint. This type of business has no place in Lynbrook or any community.

Looking like a fool, I pulled up yelp and looked for barber shops in my area that were open. Rockville Barber Shop came up and being that it's literally down the block, I thought why not give it a try? MAN did I make the right call! I was immediately greeted when I walked in and Ronnie took me right away. I showed him the damage and he sat me down, talked me off the cliff, and assured me he would take care of everything. During the course of my haircut he not only made great conversation, but made sure I was comfortable and walked me through exactly what he was doing, step by step. I've never had a barber who did that and it was such a relief, especially given the situation I was in. A short time later he was done, and I was incredibly pleased with the results!
